With the draft just around the corner, it's time for my picks in the first 2 rounds. I've had the distinct privilege to be a part of two locker rooms this year and gotten to know many people both on and off the field. While PickSix is sad he did not ultimately win a championship with Myrtle Beach, he is looking forward to the next chapter in his life and will not forget the friendships and rivalries he has forged while in the DSFL.
Without further ado, here we go.
Round 1
Jeffrey Lavert (Vegeta) - S Myrtle Beach : Almost to no ones surprise, Vegeta goes number 1 here to Orange County. A safety with speed off the line to deliver thunderous hits, I have witnessed his ability first hand sharing the field of battle with my former rival has really allowed me to see just how good this guy really is. Covering both sides of the field with lightning fast speed he is able to close the gaps to help the corners with their coverage (Not that *I* ever needed his help, but I mean... He *WAS* on Dax Frost's side a lot...) Maybe that's why Dax switched to RB who knows.
Otis Allen - DT Portland Pythons : I think San Jose goes with the big DT out of Portland here. I had the opportunity to play with Otis for the first 6 weeks of the season and his pass rushing is out of this world. San Jose should be looking to shore up some defensive holes on their roster and Otis makes sense here. I expect him to pressure NSFL QB's for quite some time in the league
Chris Kross - WR Kansas City : Philly sticks with what they know best and pick up another weapon on the offensive side of the ball. They may have holes in their defense as well, but without owning a 2nd round pick in this years draft, they know they're not going to be able to plug all the holes they have so they're just gonna score points in bunches and hope their young talented offense can just score 50 points a game and win blowouts.
HeHateMe PickSix - CB Myrtle Beach : San Jose shores up their secondary with the 2nd member of the No Fly Zone defense. There is a lot of question marks and red flags surrounding this pick as last season has shown. If PickSix is in an environment where he isn't given the freedom to be himself, he will struggle and flat out not put up numbers. However, if left to his own devices, where he is given opportunity to make big plays he will tear up the league as evidenced by his trade to Myrtle Beach and his subsequent awakening during the last 9 games of the season.
Dax Frost - RB Myrtle Beach : The cornerback turned Runningback and third member of the No Fly Zone defense goes off the board here. I think Dax has a future as a RB as he wasn't getting much love on the defensive side of the ball last year with MB. He has the ability to make the big plays, and Baltimore could use a big time playmaker on their team. Losing an offensive threat in Landers means they'll be replacing him with Dax for many years to come
Rotticus Scott - CB Myrtle Beach : The final member of the No Fly Zone defense from MB goes off the board here. Chicago needs a lot of help on the secondary and this is the best player available. With the shocking retirement of Murphy just a day before the draft Chicago goes to their backup at this spot and they land a talented corner. He was moved to the safety position during his DSFL year and excelled at that spot. While lacking the big time play of a PickSix or Vegeta, he has shown to be very accommodating to the locker room and a much better person than PickSix.
Immanuel Blackstone - DE Tijuana Luchadores: Colorado doesn't have a specific area of need, and they are absolutely thrilled they can add sack machine Blackstone to their already formidable defense. Adding a solid piece to their core the Yeti look primed to make a run to the championship next year. This is simply a matter of taking the best player available and they are both shocked and thrilled that Blackstone fell to them due to other teams taking players that filled bigger holes for their schemes.
Osiris Firestorm-Fjord - TE Portland Pythons: Fjord is the pick here. With his blocking ability as well as being able to run as well as catch the ball, Osiris is a triple threat on the offensive side of the ball and NOLA will look to include him in their schemes. A jack of all trades Osiris gives the Secondline offense a lot of different looks and should be a valued member of their locker room for years to come.
Leon McDavid - TE Myrtle Beach: McDavid was crucial in MB's push to the Ultimini last year as he remained a threat on the slant as well as creating holes for Sarvepally when needed. The wraiths will be looking for similar production from McDavid out of the gate as they hope to #changetheending and finally be the bride instead of the just the girl at the dance. It will be interesting to see how McDavid can adapt to a scheme that will allow him to make the big plays.
- Sardine Beaner - DT Minnesota Greyducks: Beaner goes from Champion to Champion here as the Copperheads look to add the impressive Tackle to their already stacked defensive line. This ensures that they will not have to worry about pressuring opposing QBs or stopping the run for years to come as they ride that success into the new year. The Copperheads look to give opposing QBs nightmares and with Beaner on their line, QBs may need to throw that ball away in a hurry.
