It’s been a very long time I wrote one of these, so I decided it was a perfect time to revive LeafTalk as an unbiased, article from the views from the users themselves.
Today I sat down with the owner of the butchers, @Jiggly_333 to discuss the current situations surrounding the butchers organization.
1. How do you feel of the current direction of the team?
"1. I'm uncertain of the short-term direction. Is it possible to win the Ultimus this year or this coming year? Maybe not. But I think that this team is putting pieces in place to build into a better future. We have the budget, we can build in free agency. But it may be a better idea for us to play the long game."
2. Since Valor and Steel have joined the team, sweeping changes were made to make them well on pace to make the playoffs very soon, How do they properly execute this?
"2. I think that all they need to do is not get distracted. Choose to focus on the right things, the most important things. There were rumors of relocation, but they are obviously false. But at the same time, that sort of thing caused a distraction. While controversy may be fun to those in the media, handling those sort of things get in the way of the things that matter and when you're a team with a lot of ground to make up, you need to limit those distractions. While I'd view it as highly unlikely that the Chicago Butchers win a championship soon, the only way that it could happen is if the GMs are focused and determined to succeed."
3. Do you have any ideas for the butchers to embrace over the next few seasons? If so, how would they affect the team?
"3. I think there's a saying for running backs that's applicable here which is "Keep your head down and your legs moving." It's going to be rough. We have gone through a lot of turmoil in recent seasons, but we will get out of it someday. Maybe sooner than we think, maybe longer than we think. But it's not just going to happen without us doing anything about it. We all need to keep pushing and keep driving to be the best that we can be."
4. What is your outlook on the season with this current roster (Not factoring the draft and Free agency), and can they possibly make the playoffs?
"4. One of my main mottos in sports is "Something Stupid Always Happens." Sometimes stupid bad, sometimes stupid good. That's why I don't like making concrete predictions because they are easily undone. This past year we saw a massive increase to our passing game and I'm excited to see where that leads the team, but you don't win on just one side of the game. Everything needs to fall in place."
5. How do you feel about the S21 draft, and free agency, who would you take to fill the holes on the roster?
"5. You know, I let the GMs handle that sort of thing. All I know is that we're set at a couple of different positions right now and all we need to do is identify the right people who will fit into our locker room here in Chicago."
