With a new r/NFL class incoming, I thought I’d take some time to look at the new wide receiver creates. Successful offenses in the NSFL usually have a few stud receivers, so the position is always in need. The previous two r/NFL classes in S15 and S18 only netted the league about 8 active receivers after a few seasons, so the league is in need of some players to step in and be a big boost to an NSFL offense as a pass-catcher.
S22 has already brought in a whopping 26 new wide receivers (as of this article). We’ve got a nice variety of users, archetypes, and initial spending in TPE. I’ll go through each of the receivers and provide some basic info to start, and then I’ll be providing updates throughout the draft, and into their hopefully successful DSFL careers.
In no particular order, here are the WR Prospects as of now:
@Gwdjohnson
Garfield Despacito Jr.
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 77
Hands: 60
Endurance: 60
Notes: Garfield Sr. had a short lived career as an o-lineman, so he’ll get a little bump amongst the unknowns of this class. He’s got an update page, so that’s a great start so far. Time will tell if he decides to stick with this player a little longer. Generally WR should be at least a little more exciting than OL.
@youngcricket
Mike Lee
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 65
Speed: 80
Hands: 55
Endurance: 60
Notes: A recreate from a legendary user who has had an HoF player in the past, I imagine he’ll be one of the first receivers off the board in the DSFL draft, though he is a little behind some of these players time-wise. He’s got the track record of being successful in the league, and that’s a huge consideration come draft night. Looks like he put just about all of his initial TPE into speed, so he’ll be ready to go against secondaries in the league.
@MushroomMan89
Scott Scott
Archetype: Route Runner
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 70
Hands: 70
Endurance: 60
Notes: Looks like Scott Scott’s only activity was to create his player, and he hasn’t been around since. Hopefully he’ll come back around to start earning TPE and updating, but for now he’ll be lost amongst the other users who do not update.
@SwishaSteve
Steve Alvarado
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 65
Speed: 80
Hands: 55
Endurance: 60
Notes: Steve also went all-speed with his TPE at first, and did go on to claim his first free training. Not much activity since then, so look for him to be drafted later on in the DSFL draft.
@StamkosFan
Thomas Passmann
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 65
Speed: 80
Hands: 55
Endurance: 60
Notes: Stamkos has the dual threat of not only having created a very successful player in the league, but it was the wide receiver Tommy Helanen. I imagine he’ll be right up there with the Mike Lee’s of the draft who are taken with an early selection to find someone who can get close to the 250 TPE cap and be able to contribute to a team’s success. Not a surprise to see Passmann with 80 speed, as well.
@tan5o4
Tan Johnson
Archetype: Possession Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 70
Hands: 70
Endurance: 70
Notes: Tan got off to a blazing start, having completed his rookie tasks as well as creating his update page. I imagine DSFL teams will keep a close eye on this prospect as he already has a chance to really separate himself from the rest of the pack with knocking out these tasks so early. He went all 70s with his build, so he’ll be a nice balanced weapon for teams out of the gate.
@ronanb23
Ronan Briscoe
Archetype: Route Runner
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 75
Hands: 65
Endurance: 60
Notes: Ronan is off to an okay start. He just recently posted for his AC, and I’m sure teams will be reaching out to see what his level of activity will be going forward. If he can get started on training and maybe some media, he’s got a good shot at being a mid round pick in the draft.
@sakrosankt
Michael Witheblock
Archetype: Possession Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 65
Speed: 70
Hands: 72
Endurance: 70
Notes: Witheblock has been making waves among scouts this week, as he’s completed some tasks, but has also created his update page and put out two quality media posts; a great sign for a rookie. He went with the possession receiver, which I’m sure his team will appreciate for the extra stability for their fledgling DSFL offenses. I think we can expect him to continue to pull away from the low activity players as we near the draft.
@CJPJD
Cal Cutta
Archetype: Route Runner
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 74
Hands: 70
Endurance: 60
Notes: Cal got off to a good start with some tasks and updating his page. He hasn’t been around for a few days, so hopefully he checks back in soon to complete some tasks and continue earning TPE for this week. I, for one, will enjoy seeing his ManningFace pfp around on the forums if he sticks with it.
@QuirkyTurtle
Eddie Jeeta
Archetype: Route Runner
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 70
Hands: 70
Endurance: 65
Notes: Eddie’s done a great job integrating himself in the league right away. He’s tweeting, earning TPE, and updating. What's most impressive, though, is the completion of Ultimus Week already. No small feat for a rookie with limited knowledge of the league going in. I imagine he’s near the top of receiving draft boards right away. Keep up the good work!
@Coterminity
Kevin Koh
Archetype: Route Runner
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 70
Hands: 70
Endurance: 70
Notes: Another possible stud in the making, Koh has completed the usual tasks in addition to Ultimus Week and a Mock Draft. Look for him to go early in the draft to a team needing a receiver, and the potential to make it big in the NSFL, as well. His build is the all 70s approach, but I imagine a good DSFL GM will get him started on getting his speed up as quick as possible.
@TMoney
Tyler Curtis
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 72
Speed: 70
Hands: 65
Endurance: 60
Notes: Unfortunately, Tyler only created his player and hasn’t done anything else. For now, he’ll be relegated to a late-round pick.
@Sutj
Friedrich Vequain
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 75
Hands: 62
Endurance: 60
Notes: Vequain’s got nice speed to start with, and has completed a few tasks so far, so he’ll be a player to keep an eye on to see if he comes back and continues to be active. For now, he’ll be decent option for a DSFL team that needs someone with good speed and the chance to be active in the weeks to come.
@2Burkeulosis
Susan Cash.Jr
Archetype: Possession Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 60
Speed: 70
Hands: 70
Endurance: 70
Notes: Susan has been doing some earning and has been pretty active on the forums so far. Not quite enough to put her in the top tier of receivers, but definitely one to keep an eye on going forward.
@yonggarius
William Lim
Archetype: Possession Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 60
Speed: 71
Hands: 75
Endurance: 65
Notes: Lim is off to a strong start. He wrote a nice backstory for his character, has an update page, and is already knocking things out like his wiki and a mock draft. He could be a darkhorse candidate as an early round pick if he keeps this up and impresses GMs in interviews. He invested a large amount of his TPE into hands, which will make him a reliable option right away once drafted.
@tbone415
Terrell Brister Jr.
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 65
Speed: 74
Hands: 70
Endurance: 60
Notes: Brister is a recreate from a 2018 user, but does not appear to have done anything besides create his player, unfortunately. Not sure if he plans on being more active going forward, or not.
@Obscure
Nathan Bigelow
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 70
Hands: 65
Endurance: 65
Notes: Another in a long line of speed receivers, but hasn’t done anything since player creation.
@senseichen
Bryant Moreland
Archetype: Route Runner
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 70
Hands: 74
Endurance: 60
Notes: Inactive since he created his player.
@EliteFlame7
Curious George
Archetype: Possession Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 65
Speed: 70
Hands: 74
Endurance: 65
Notes: Inactive since player creation.
@His Dark Materials
Henry Saxe-Coburg-Gotha
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 65
Speed: 75
Hands: 60
Endurance: 60
Notes: Henry completed some initial tasks like the rookie survey, his first free training, and an AC, but hasn’t been around in about 10 days. Might be worth a late round flyer over some of those who just created their player and dipped.
@morsy
William Alexander
Archetype: Red Zone Threat
Key Attributes:
Agility: 60
Speed: 70
Hands: 70
Endurance: 65
Notes: The lone Red Zone Threat receiver in the class, and he has already made a name for himself by tweeting, completing his wiki, and some of the other rookie tasks. I’d put him in the middle of the pack/upper tier receiver with a chance to move up past some of the others if he continues earning and updating.
@TheLordPred
Donovan Smith
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 65
Speed: 75
Hands: 67
Endurance: 60
Notes: Inactive since player creation
@penbleezus
Bobby Black
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 72
Hands: 70
Endurance: 60
Notes: Has only created his player and chosen his likeness, so not a whole lot of info to go on yet.
@ForSucksFake
Daymond Brooks
Archetype: Possession Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 60
Speed: 70
Hands: 76
Endurance: 65
Notes: Quite the username, but has only created his player and made a comment. Hopefully he comes back around soon.
@Raistlin
Logan Marshall
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 65
Speed: 74
Hands: 63
Endurance: 67
Notes: Mostly inactive other than claiming training camp.
@NoobPanda
DeSean Hill
Archetype: Speed Receiver
Key Attributes:
Agility: 70
Speed: 70
Hands: 70
Endurance: 65
Notes: Noobpanda created a little earlier than most of this class, but hasn’t been back in a couple weeks.
A couple of facts about the incoming class as a whole:
-Key attribute averages in the initial builds are:
Agility: 66.81
Speed: 72.77
Hands: 67.04
Endurance: 63.15
As you can see, most players have decided that, correctly, speed is the most important attribute for a receiver. Per usual, we can expect plenty of drops for these guys in DSFL, as well as lower agility and endurance. Some of this has to do with the high percentage of Speed Receiver archetypes, so the threshold for speed is obviously higher.
-Archetype counts:
Speed Receiver: 13
Route Runner: 6
Possession Receiver: 6
Red Zone Threat: 1
It looks like this class has either been informed of the Speed Receiver meta, or just likes the idea of wanting to be a big play receiver. Nothing wrong with that. An even amount of Router Runners and Possession Receivers, with a lone Red Zone Threat player so far. I thought I’d see some more Red Zone Threats for the players wanting more TDs, but it wasn’t a popular choice in this class.
All in all, a really solid group of players, and by far the largest wide receiver class in the last several seasons. Hopefully the retention rate is higher than some of the previous classes, as even S15 and S18 only produced a combined 8 wideouts that made it very far in their careers.
That does it for the first look at this wide receiver class. I’ll post again after the draft to see where everyone ended up, and will probably continue to track the group as a whole for a while to see how they fare going forward.
S22 has already brought in a whopping 26 new wide receivers (as of this article). We’ve got a nice variety of users, archetypes, and initial spending in TPE.
