S22 DSFL 3 Round Mock Draft
Disclaimer: This was created using my own research and also with the help of many scouting media that has already been released by you lovely people, so thank you for the help, but I must say I’m no expert, these are my thoughts and are not to be taken as anything more than entertainment, and anyone left off the list, I do apologise but remember this is only a mock and is likely inaccurate. Also being a S22 rookie myself, I try not to be biased in my predictions even though I do think I’m great.
Team Breakdown:
Dallas Birddogs
The first expansion team with a selection is the Birddogs. As everyone is quite aware, with no roster whatsoever, the needs of this team are all of them. However some positions are more important than others, just the way the game is so look for this team to be grabbing up their QB of the future.
London Royals
As the second expansion team, Royals got the short straw and get the 2nd overall pick. The situation is exactly that of Birddogs so same applies. The direction these teams go will start to appear more as the draft goes on, however it’s likely another QB coming up at pick 2.
Portland Pythons
Pythons season did not go according to plan. Finishing with only 2 regular season wins. What seems to be their most pressing needs is in the defence, especially the back end of their defence. But a spark to their offence wouldn’t go amiss either. I expect Portland to target defence units on all fronts early on and look to grab some weapons on offence later. Luckily they have 2 back to back picks in round 2 to play with.
Tijuana Luchadores
Tijuana are in a not so ideal place after the emergence of the two expansion team, as they likely look to fill that QB spot. No matter, plenty of viable QB options available in this draft luckily. However, with strong talent emerging in CB and DL positions, perhaps the Luchadores may lean towards a BPA approach instead.
Kansas City Coyotes
Kansas City could go many many directions at 5. They’ll be losing strong talent at WR, and much like the Luchadores, DT and CB is looking awfully compelling to snatch up in the 1st round.
Norfolk Seawolves
Norfolk had the 1st overall last season, and that didn’t quite go to plan. While Cal Lidous had all the fundamentals and star qualities, sometimes the bright lights are just too much. Depending on whats available Norfolk could get a position of need in QB, and while its hard to tell what they’ll need from other positions until after the NSFL Draft this Friday, I assume BPA approach.
Myrtle Beach Bucs
So close yet so far. So so far. Ultimini Runners Up are losing star safety Prince Vegeta, who played a vital role in this incredibly fierce defence. A great deal of high caliber players will likely leave for NSFL and so a lot of spots opens up to hungry rookies. With such a strong defensive class, I expect the Bucs to find that defensive squad once again early on and look for WR/TE in the later rounds, although they may wish to spark a little excitement in their offence after a dismal Ultimini performance.
Minnesota Grey Ducks
Champions of the DSFL. Unfortunately, the NSFL is essentially the Grim reaper for these DSFL GMs. They build a perfect team to take home the gold, only to have their squad ripped away from them weeks later and the rebuild begins again. What a shame. Oh well, get over it. Back end DBs are lacking in this team. Any direction could be made right here for CB, S or DT. It also never hurts to bulk up on that offence.
With all that said. Lets kick it off!
Round 1.
Pick 1 – Dallas Birddogs
QB, Monterey Jack
First things first, Gotta get that QB to kickstart the franchise. And it’s to not much surprise that Monty is the first overall selection. A recreate from the San Jose GM is about as reliable as it comes and he knows what’s what when it comes to this league. On top of being a piece on this team to build around (at least for this season) he is a great person to help the new GMs hit the ground running.
Pick 2 – London Royals
QB, Colby Jack
The Jack brothers make into DSFL history by being the 1st and 2nd overall picks in the S21 DSFL Draft. Like his brother, Colby is a recreate from another NSFL GM which comes with a ton of reliability and know how to help kickstart this new franchise in the right direction.
Pick 3 – Portland Pythons
CB, Tyler Oles Jr.
Cornerback has become a largely premium position and is one of great need across the board. Pythons were able to pick up this young DB from Maryland and I believe have grown very accustomed to his presence in that backfield. They’ll be thrilled to bring him right back.
Pick 4 – Tijuana Luchadores
QB, Jim Waters
Tijuana should be targeting a QB with their first pick. Unfortunately their QB selection from last year didn’t pan out as the Xekutioner fell IA and it hurt this team greatly. Jim Waters I believe is as good a QB as you could find and honestly, even at pick 4 is a steal. He knows exactly what’s up to get that QB success and has been incredibly active even with his tedious duties as Updater. Not to mention he getting that monayyy.
Pick 5 – Kansas City Coyotes
DT, Phat Boi
What can I say about Phat Boi that he hasn’t already said himself. This man is gonna be a FORCE. Bet on it! And with DT being a very scarce position for actives, KC waste no time in selecting the best DT in the draft by some considerable margin.
Pick 6 – Norfolk Seawolves
QB, Ben Slothlisberger
Norfolk can’t believe their eyes as the Sloth falls all the way to 6, even after many mocks had him at 1OA. Slothlisbergers past life is one of defence as his LB was held in very high regards with a mountain of TPE. He recreates as QB and Norfolk snatch him up to replace their busted 1OA pick just a year ago.
Pick 7 – Myrtle Beach Buccaneers
S - Johnny Hellzapoppin
Myrtle Beach losing Prince Vegeta is going to hurt. A Safety to replace him should be a top concern for them moving into this draft. While the Safety position in this class holds little in elite options, there are certainly a few that are. A standout favourite of mine is Johnny Hellzapoppin. His activity is great and is posting solid media and gfx, even including an animated DSFL gfx. Awesome!! My money is on him becoming a top TPE earner with this kind of output.
Pick 8 – Minnesota Grey Ducks
CB, Zamir Kehla
Zamir is oddly viewed in some eyes around the league as a hit or miss candidate. Not in my eyes. His activity and drive is the most I’ve seen of any CB, and let me tell you, that’s really saying something. He’s been earning excellently and GMs should want this man on their squad. Minnesota get a quality player in a position of great need at the end of the 1st.
Round 2.
Pick 1 – London Royals
LB, Stanislaw Koniecpolski
Royals got their leader on offence in the first round, now they get their defensive leader. Stanislaw I believe is the only recreate in the LB class and a highly touted and well known recreate at that, as he was previously a HoF WR. It’s always good to have that league veteran on a team to help guide the newbies.
Pick 2 – Dallas Birddogs
RB, White Goodman
Not much to say here. Birddogs are forced to take their GM recreate right here in running back White Goodman. I wouldn’t call this a reach however as I see this RB finishing the season as one of the top in the class. And ain’t no one a GM trusts more than themselves anyway.
Pick 3 – Portland Pythons
DE, Danielle Hunter
First Defensive End off the board comes early in the second round. Hunter is a recreate with good experience on the defensive side of the ball. Pythons want to get to the QB more often and bring up the sack numbers. Danielle Hunter is the man to do just that.
Pick 4 – Portland Pythons
WR, Mike Lee
With Portland next second round pick, they take another top player at their position, this time on the offensive side. Mike Lee already championed the defensive side in that of his Hall of Fame LB. He’s now decided to tackle the same goal on offence. Mike Lee will be a strong target for all teams but Portland are thrilled to spruce up that offence with Lee as a their star pass catcher.
Pick 5 – Kansas City Coyotes
CB, Alexander Hamilton II
Hamilton is another CB that is extremely active and on top of what I’m positive will be extremely high caliber play, he’ll bring a strong presence and energy to this locker room. Not new to sim leagues in general, Alexander certainly makes my list of elite DBs in this draft and a great selection for the Coyotes in the middle of the second round.
Pick 6 – Norfolk Seawolves
CB, Cadillac Harris
Oh these Corners are coming flying off the board now it seems. While 3 of the 4 first taken Corners in this mock are not recreates, some might call to question the reason for this. I’m aware recreates are generally taken earlier but that’s primarily because of their reliability to keep improving. These corners may not be recreates, but man they talk massive games and have quickly formed strong rivalries that give me great confidence in their ability to become elite in this league. Harris is no exception! I like his odds of becoming that lockdown corner for the Seawolves.
Pick 7 – Myrtle Beach Buccaneers
WR, Thomas Passman
Myrtle Beach select a speedster WR with their second, in this former Pro bowler recreate. MB flaunted that elite defence all season, but the sting of that Ultimini game still burns deep. They decide to spruce up that offence and it starts with playmaker Passman at wideout.
Pick 8 – Dallas Birddogs
S, Buck Thornton
Dallas have QB and RB sorted. It’s time for some defensive pieces. Many solid options at this point, it’s hard to go wrong, but I like Buck Thornton here. Super active and putting out that media is gonna earn gold stars for him on GMs draft boards and earns him an early round selection. The defence in Dallas starts off looking strong.
Round 3.
Pick 1 – Minnesota Grey Ducks
DT, Mo “Mamba” Magic
Mo Magic is the elite DT option behind Phat Boi. Quite frankly I can see him being taken a hell of a lot earlier than this, but this is how the chips fell in this mock. He’s been cranking out great scouting report media and earning that money. Pay no attention to his age. At just 19 this kid is gonna spark fear in the hearts of offensive linemen. A steal for the Grey Ducks with the first pick in the 3rd.
Pick 2 – London Royals
WR, Eddie Jeeta
After securing a top QB and top LB with their first two picks, the Royals decide to pick up a weapon for Colby. Elite WR options are fairly few this year and round 3 is where they tend to come flying off the board so you don’t wanna miss them. Jeeta is one of those options. Extremely active and quickly stacking the TPE points, he should be an early target for a lot of teams. I don’t like to toot my own horn but this is a true stud in the making.
Pick 3 – Portland Pythons
TE, Jeffrey Phillips
Pythons already selected their WR in Mike Lee, but what’s to stop defences from doubling up on him. I know! How about another premium recreate pass catcher at the TE position. As a recreate from a potential hall of famer, Phillips is no doubt on top of draft boards for all teams. A fantastic selection early in the third.
Pick 4 – Tijuana Luchadores
CB, Thubba Bumper
Barring a trade up, Tijuana finally get to their second pick of he draft taking a Corner. Thubba Bumper is a recreate and comes with a ton of upside. He only falls this far a his drive to be elite has been vastly overshadowed by others at his position and discord chat may scare GMs at the thought of a potential position change or early retirement. Although I may be greatly mistaken. Anyhow a great pick and potential massive steal for the Luchadores.
Pick 5 – Kansas City Coyotes
WR, Kevin Koh
I told you WRs would start flying off. Coyotes pick up Kevin Koh right here as a potential stud in this league. He’s built up a ton of TPE already and plans to feed that speed stat of his which is sure to turn the heads of GMs. Also has a lot of activity in the forums. An excellent addition to the KC Coyotes.
Pick 6 – Norfolk Seawolves
WR, Susan Cash Jr
Yet another WR taken. How can you not love his guy with the username ‘2Burkeulosis’? Love it! The Boy named Sue is one to keep your eye on for sure! Activity in discord chat and forums gives strong hope to his future career. Norfolk need a young playmaker at wideout to help QB Jim Waters excel and that’s just what they get in Sue.
Pick 7 – Myrtle Beach Buccaneers
TE, Daniel George
Daniel George specialises in making stacks on stacks on stacks on stacks. It’s truly remarkable how much media this man has delivered in such a short amount of time. That speaks heavily to his overall activity and potential TPE gain. I don’t think anyone doubts he’ll be a top TPE earner in this league. MB nab themselves a future star at TE.
Pick 8 – Minnesota Grey Ducks
LB, Derred de Ville (The Red Devil)
To cap off the mock, Minnesota get themselves another rich, rich man. After securing dollar for a 4K article, the potential in this LB is astonishing. Active in all aspects of the word and no sign of slowing down his TPE gain. This one is going to be fun to watch.

It’s likely way out of whack anyway and in that regard, if you see something you think is drastically out of place and just wrong please let me know. I’d be super interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
