We asked about player retention, test simming, what to do about draft picks. Everything. And we couldn't really find enough of a professional reason to not accept them as GM. But it just bothered us by how much of an unknown quantity they were.
We sat back for a moment. We all were voting yes to them just because it felt like what we were obligated to do. But as I said, something just didn't feel right. We started talking about what if we said no.
1. You know I love you Jiggly, and I have no doubts you're doing everything in your power to help the team. This is just my outside take on the matter:
2. This seems like... a conflict of interest. You were presented a valid candidate, and the warroom was in favor, but then suddenly switched? Obviously this is NOT the actual case, but "we couldn't really find enough of a professional reason to not accept them as GM" sounds an awful lot like "they're qualified but we don't like this thing about them" - aka discriminatory hiring practices
But to be more directly on topic... it's pretty clear you're presenting yourself, and Oles when he reaches the team, as good GMs to save the franchise. My concern is that you were both GMs before, but left due to time constraints, if I recall ? (please correct me if I'm wrong!!!)
I'm worried that you're rushing back into this due to the emotional aspect, and I get it. I've wanted to return to GMing for a while. The feeling of leading a team, leading a BRAND you're in love with, is a very good one. But... it wasn't viable long-term and I knew it. Are you sure you and Oles would be good long-term GMs? Even if y'all come in and are excellent GMs who lead Chicago back towards success, what happens when you both run out of time again? Who takes the reigns? If that time is going to come either way... why not give a chance to the good candidate? You'll be there to advise them regardless
(Disclaimers: I have no idea who the candidate is lol, and 2. just my late-night two-cents.)
