Hi all,
It’s been a long time since I’ve spoken publicly about football, the league, and what my career has meant to me, but now it seems time to do so. I was able to hit exactly 1500 career TPE in this last update of the season, and on that note, I would like to officially announce my retirement at the end of the post-season. I’ve been around since S9, when I was convinced to join because my best friend [irl husband], the longtime Sabercats defensemen Ben Horne, joined this league. There have been a lot of changes, growth, and dramas along the way but I definitely have enjoyed my experiences. @Jiggly_333 and @enigmatic paved the way for me as a female football player, and I’ve been pleased to see a few more join in the seasons since.
My career as a cornerback has had the classic U shape - in my early years, I had noteworthy stats, then as I became more skilled, and even became the top-ranked CB. My stats didn’t reflect that due to my match-ups, and fame went to the younger guys. Now, in my veteran seasons, I’ve been able to beat the rookies I’ve been matched against and get some stats, though my skills have been slipping a bit as I’ve gotten a bit creaky. We tried to prove this trend many seasons ago, and collected a lot of the data for a study, but it ended up being a bit too large of a side project in the peaks of our careers.
My starting years in Tijuana during S9 & S10 saw us win two Ultimini’s under the strong leadership of @iseedoug and @nunccoepi , jump-starting their fame as GMs with a commitment to analytics that brought a Moneyball moment to DSFL strategy. After being drafted first in round 2 of the S10 draft by @ckroyal92 and the Sabercats, in S11 I joined the revolution to bring the Sabercats their first Ultimus in team history. We finally achieved that goal in S14, with many strong playoff performances leading up to that and in the following seasons. We weren’t able to land another win in the year that followed, so I made the tough decision to jump to the rival Baltimore Hawks, to rejoin Ben Horne, @iseedoug, and @nunccoepi. We also had many strong playoff appearances in those years, and when leadership changed and many of my friends moved on to different teams, I decided to stay with the Hawks and see what we could make of this. Sadly, we haven’t been able to win in the finals since I have joined the team, but maybe this year will be the year.
I’ve also enjoyed my side job for the past ~10 seasons working with the Outlaws and keeping their stats, and I’ll be stepping down from that, as well. It’s been a nice side outlet for my technical background, but I’d like to reclaim my weekends for a bit. Retiring will give me an opportunity to travel more, take Nax for more casual walks, and spend time with my family. We’ve kept it on the DL for a while, but Ben and I have been together since our early days in the league. We also have a beautiful daughter [not irl], who we’ll be training up to join the DSFL in the next few seasons. Thank you again to all those who helped me in my career and those who made this an enjoyable ~decade in the league, and stay tuned for more from our family!
