Welcome to Tylus' s23 DSFL prospect big board!
Thank your for tuning in and checking out my article! I am a very new player and user, so this mock is based on the information I've been able to gather on the prospects during the short time I've been involved with the league. I'm not an expert and the depth of my knowledge on this subject is about as deep as a kiddy pool that's evaporated some of its water in the hot sun. You will notice a large portion of the first round being recreates and GM's. It seems that being a recreate or a GM makes your player a lot more valuable, for obvious reasons. DSFL GM's know if they draft a recreate they are almost certainly getting a solid player, and a consistent earner. While this draft may be deep in prior experience, it also has a few new faces looking to make a name for themselves. This article will be focusing on who I believe are the top 10 prospects to watch out for in this years draft and dsfl play. I will be focusing on player attitude, performance, and drive to be great. I will only be posting players I've seen listed in the prospects category in the player database.
Number 1 - Bane Ka’anā’anā(DT)
Even only being here for a few days, I've heard all I need to about ADwyer87 and the unbelievable amount of growth from a player who has been here as long as he has. I've heard how he changed the game with his OL insights. Him being a GM only adds to the value. DT seems to be a very important piece for teams, from what I've learned about the league and how games tend to play out. Any team would be ecstatic to have a player of his caliber at this position on their squad. You cannot go wrong with this pick The unquestionable #1 player in this years DSFL draft has to be BANE.
Number 2 - CJ Riley(DE)
Huskies311 saw himself going at #6 to the Grey Ducks. But being a GM, consistent earner, as well as posting great media content so far has him at #2 on my board. Defensive end seems to be another position of importance as well. The more I learn about the league, the more it seems that battles are won and lost in the trenches. Riley, being a power rusher, would add strength and consistency to whatever defensive line he ends up playing for. While slightly less valuable in my eyes than Ka’anā’anā, I still find this to be a no brainer pick, and I personally don't see him falling past 4 for any reason other than a severe team need that I'm not aware of.
Number 3 - Kevin Malone(OL)
Yet another GM, and yet another trench player. As the league has done a 180 when it comes to thoughts on offensive line, we see our 3rd GM off the board. I don't know too much about TubbyTim69, but I do know he is a very active, and very strong user. If you need a strong offensive line player, this is the best of the bunch. Another "cant go wrong" pick. I see a team picking him up within the top 5, especially one that might be weaker at offensive line this season.
Number 4 - Adélie de Pengu(S)
There are a good amount of safeties in this years draft, but Adélie is probably the best of the bunch, yet ANOTHER GM in this draft, Adélie will be a strong player for years to come, and most likely be an immediate impact upon whichever team drafts them. This is the type of player who prevents big plays, and for some of these teams, they need an anchor like that on the back half of the field. Adélie de Pengu is my #1 DB in general in this draft.
Number 5 - Water Chestnut III(DE)
Our final GM on the list, once again at a trench position. Water is also a power rusher, similar to CJ Riley. I'm giving Riley the edge here, only because I've heard more about him. When it all comes down to it, Water could end up being the stronger player, so there is definitely a battle to be had here. I have them both in the top 5 because a GM at a trench position is going to be strong no matter which one has the slight edge. Almost certainly an immediate impact player looking to work his way into the NSFL.
Number 6 - Videl-san(WR)
As much as I'd hate to admit it, Videl is almost certainly the strongest wide receiver in this class. A strong earner and veteran of the league, Videl is pushing to be drafted in the first round. Her picture has to be my favorite out of all the prospects. She is active all over discord from what I've seen, and very competitive. As much as I'd like to put Tychondrius as the #1 wide out, I cannot cap like that. Videl is your #1 WR in this years draft as of writing this article. (I'm coming for you valor)
Number 7 - Reginald Covington III(QB)
The only QB in my top 10, I have heard good things about his user, PDXBaller. I think there should always be 1 QB in the top 10, and Reginald gets on the list easily. There seem to be a team or 2 who are in need of a solid quarterback, and Mr. Covington fits the bill. Very active and from what I've heard, a great locker room presence. Any team in the market for a QB need not pass his name on the list. Being a game manager, he might not throw for 400 yards a game, but he will put your team in situations to succeed. A safe, yet strong pick at QB.
Number 8 - Tychondrius Hood(WR)
A new user to the site, Tylus(aka me) has come into his own as a strong beginner player. He's completed every PT possible, as well as making a wiki, twitter, and completing his rookie pt. Tychondrius is a speed receiver, and plans to be the fastest wide out in this draft by draft day. This user has many things going for him that place him in a tier of his own. No life, no job, no car, and best of all - no friends. He plans on being the best wide receiver in this draft, and may surprise the league and end up being the strongest receiver on the board. So this list could turn on its head closer to draft day. With all of this going for him and his competitive drive at full speed, Tychondrius is a first gen player to keep an eye on.
Number 9 - Eric Richards(LB)
Another first gen user, Eric Richards is a natural run stopping thicc boi linebacker. While he has taken some time to learn the site and get his player set up, he has come into his own, writing multiple media piece, and getting all of his pt/wiki/twitter done. If you need a hole-plugging, line-cracking linebacker and don't care how long a person has been on the site, Eric Richards is the man you want. A Kentucky product, he's been eating beans and cornbread every day since he was 6 months old. Teams with a need for a bad to the bone rush defender need look no further.
Number 10 - Dre Matthews(WR)
Our last player on the list, also a beginner. Like Eric Richards, he has come into his own, and taken the initiative as much as he can to learn the site, and get his player started. A route running receiver, he is a crisp, fluid, and dynamic receiver. Him and Tychondrius Hood played together at Florida, so I have a soft spot in my heart for him. And while he may have been the #2 wide out behind Hood, the skill gap between them is very slim. Dre played in the slot better than any of wide receiver in this draft. A solid new user and a quick learner, any team needing a possession wide out would be in great hands with Dre.
Honorable Mentions
Heinrich Kackpoo(LB) - First gen user who has made waves with his solid start to this offseason.
Griff Oberwald(WR) - Strong WR and a seemingly veteran user.
Ray-Ray Jackson(CB) - Solid CB who has gotten off to a great start. Probably the best CB in this draft.
Danny King(RB) - The strongest RB in the class at this point, a team with a need in that position would be picking up a great speed back.
To Conclude
This draft seemingly has a great mix of new and veteran players. While newer players might end up getting drafted behind the elite recreates and GMs, I believe there are some rookies who will outperform some of these vets. There are a lot of players who you know will be strong no matter what, which gives the DSFL GMs some flexibility in who they draft. I expect the first round to be almost completely recreates unless a GM finds a diamond among the newer players. I've tried to do my best to research these players and give the most accurate assessment of them I can with the limited information I have. Do you agree, or disagree with my list, and why? Would love to hear some opinions from the more ancient users here. Thanks for reading if you did, and I hope you enjoyed!
