I intend for this to be a series, with each post being about one player who is coming into the NSFL this season. So without any more time wasting, let's get into our first player: Chester Sweets.
Chester was drafted by Kansas City for his rookie season and dominated on the field. 16 passes defenced is frankly ridiculous, and quarterbacks in the NSFL should be wary throwing anywhere that Sweets is. He was able to collect a pair of interceptions in his first season as well. A well rounded and very skilled Cornerback, Chester is finished dominating in the DSFL and he's ready to destroy the NSFL next.
Sweets was drafted 5th overall by San Jose and even that early, he's a steal. He's been a monster on the field, and a cornerstone in the locker room. He will be sorely missed in Kansas City, but rumors around the league say that while the GMs of the Coyotes are very sad to see such a great player leave the team, they are excited to see what the future holds for Chester Sweets. San Jose made a great decision to grab Chester, and they definitely won't regret it.
This young Cornerback is already a proven commodity in the DSFL. No one in the league is expecting him to fall short in the leap to the NSFL. Good luck to San Jose in contract negotiations, as Sweets is going to command a massive salary. Any team would be foolish to not pay this beast of a man. If San Jose doesn't, someone else will pay him what he deserves.
As someone who played with Chester last season in the DSFL, I can say with confidence that having him on the field is calming for our team. He's a performer and a team leader, and while he is very active in the locker room, come game time, he's serious and ready to play as hard as he can. A very popular team member, Chester has consistently been active in Kansas. We wil lall miss him.
Chester has also been a tackling machine during his rookie season, with 54 tackles in the season. Recievers in the NSFL should be wary of being matched up against Chester Sweets. He takes no prisoners and will destroy any team that underestimates him. Off the field, this hulking cornerback is friendly, approachable and level headed. It's good to see constant praise not going to his head. I look forward to seeing Chester take his no holds barred style of football to San Jose, and eventually the hall of fame.
Chester Sweets has no obvious weaknesses. He may struggle to keep up with NSFL players at first, but he's an incredibly dedicated player, and it should take no time at all for him to catch up with more veteran players; especially because the only thing he's lacking at this point is top level experience, something the NSFL should give him in spades.
Overall, I think San Jose made a fantastic choice in Chester, as he's easily the best cornerback in the draft. I would rate this pick 10/10. Good luck Chester, see you out there next season.
