Everytime, before a game, I always listen to certain artists or pieces of music that really get me in the mood to work. I’m not really a fan of modern pop music, but I'm more of a fan of contemporary classical music, such as the works of Steve Reich, Chirstopher Rouse, and other contemporary classical composers. With this, I also listen to other modern genres, like more electronic or fusion pieces. Below are some of these pieces that I listen to to get in the mood for the field.
Steve Reich- Music for Pieces of Wood
Who knew that a piece of music of just people hitting wood could help you for the game? The main purpose of this piece is to create a rhythm in my internal clock, which from experience really quite pushes me to getting the success that I so desire. Great listen for those getting into minimalist music.
Steve Reich- Electric Counterpoint
This piece is one of the many pieces that I listen too that also create a vibe of thought and movement, like the other Steve Reich piece mentioned previously. The mixture of many guitar lines in the counterpoint chaos throughout this piece all centered around one central idea sows the seeds for enlightenment and thought, which I know help me take what I think here, and apply it to the field.
Christopher Rouse- Gorgon
Jesus. This piece is brutal. It’s a cavalcade of wild melody and loud, clashing ideas that make me angry, for some reason. This piece is a true adventure to listen too, and I use this more than others to hype me up and increase my adrenaline flow.
Sungazer- Electro
The complex chords and rhythm in this piece is a whirl of creativity that fosters clean thought, especially after listening to the chaos of the Gorgon Symphony. I appreciate listening to this piece among others, because I genuinely love this band and all the songs they create. This one is just used a lot to get me going.
So, these are just some of the couple pieces that I used to greatly improve my game, get blood flowing, get adrenaline pumping, etc. Please take a gander at some of these pieces, because they may help you get your game up too! Thanks for reading.
