Eric messes with his tie as he stands backstage. He has been called for an interview with a major newscast called "Gooe Morning London", and he was slightly nervous. Not about talking about his teams performance, oh no. They have gotten off to a great 2-0 start over the Kansas City Coyotes and the Tijuana Luchadores and he has been impressing a lot of people with his 22 total tackles, making him second in the league in tackles.
What he was nervous about was talking to the interviewer. He has always been a strong silent type, and he never felt good talking under the lights. Worse still, he has decided to go alone to prove to himself that he didn't need his parents and fiancé always over his shoulder. He started to do the breathing exercises to calm himself down, which helped a little bit.
"You're about to be on Eric" a producer told him "don't be nervous, you'll do great"
"Thank you sir. That does help" Eric smiles as the show starts.
"Welcome back to Good Morning London" the interviewer Alice Maria says as the show goes back on air "our next guest is a rookie linebacker for the London Royals that has impressed a lot of people in the league with his production on the field, everyone please welcome Eric Richards!" Eric smiles and waves as he heads out of the curtain, wearing his best suit "Eric welcome to the show it's a pleasure to have you"
"Thank you Alice" Eric says as they shake hands "I am very happy to be here"
"OK I know it must be quite a culture shock to go from a small town in the United States to a big town like London England"
"Yeah it has been" Eric chuckles "the small town is called Sheperdsville by the way. Hey Joey if you can see me, which i doubt you can but the internet does exist, you still owe me a Pepsi when I eventually come back." The audience gets a good laugh out of that, which relaxes Eric a lot
"Well I am do hope he'll pay you back soon" Alice says, getting another laugh from the audience "now I noticed that you mentioned that you would love to meet the queen soon, have you done so?"
"Not at this moment, though I do see her at the games and practice. I am just too nervous to go up to her right now until I have really proved myself"
"Oh that is completely understandable Eric. I was extremely nervous meeting her too she has such a presence about her" She drinks some tea before moving on to the next question "now what are your favorite teas currently? Or do you not have any?"
"I don't drink tea much" he chuckles "though I do love some sweet tea every now and then"
"Well that is good tea" the interviewer agrees "now have you been to any landmarks in London?"
"Actually I was taken to the Big Ben and that was an experience. It actually went off close to me, which was cool to see. Oh! And I was taken to the Tower of London! And I could swear I heard a ghost there, but I can't prove it"
"Well the Tower does seem like the type to be haunted, what with it's dark history."
"Yeah i heard all about that, especially the torture" he shivers a little
"It seems like an odd landmark to visit tbough"
"Oh my fiancé Clair Jones was curious about it and convinced us all to go on a tour. She has always been into medieval stuff"
"How has your family took to living in London?"
"It was an insane culture shock for them too, but they seem to have taken it well. Actually better then I thought my dad would, he has never left the US"
"Quite a crazy way to move out of the country, I can see why it was crazy at first." She then put on door highlights of Eric as she asked "now what do you have to say about your hot start?"
"Well hopefully I can say something without jinxing it" everyone laughs at that "but I think its more then just me. Everyone on the team has played thier hearts out in the first two games, and i am proud to be a part of it" she then showed his interception near the end of the Luchadores game "oh hey i actually caught an interception, that's something I don't do every day"
"Oh I have seen your highlights in college, I know you don't" more laughs at that "but still it must have been an incredible feeling for you"
"Yeah it definitely is an incredible feeling" Eric smiles "our team played hard when everyone thought we would have a rough start, and I love proving people wrong"
"I am sure your teammates feel the same way" Alice smiles "well that's all the time we have for today, I want to thank you for coming here Eric"
"It was definitely a pleasure Alice" Eric says as they shake hands and he goes backstage, proud of how he did in the interview despite his nervousness. Now it was on to week 3, and he was ready for the next challenge.
