S22 of the NSFL had finally begun after a very eventful offseason featuring expansion and numerous roster moves. As new faces pop up in the fields and many of our familiar stars donning different uniforms, the first 3 weeks of this season is already done and dusted. In this article, I'll be recapping the game results for every team's first three games and the roster moves they made after the NSFL draft.

Week 3: 25-14 W vs
<Roster moves>
- Acquired WR Jake Dropson from Liberty with S22 10th round pick(116th overall)
- Traded CB Quentin Sinclair and S23 2nd round pick to Hawks for S Logan Uchiha and S23 3rd round pick
- Called up DT Mo Magic, WR William Lim, DE Ismael Sanchez, TE Gronk Robertkoswki, CB Rotticus Scott from the DSFL
The Yeti is off to a great start for the season as they won all three games they played so far. Their most prominent strength is their defence, which feature last year's DPOY Mo Berry and superstar cornerback Louisiana Purchase among many others. They generated many sacks, forced fumbles, several interceptions and a pick six, and most importantly allowed only 40 points in first 3 games despite facing strong offenses. The Yeti offense is also doing great, despite losing their former WR1 Laszlo Forty- two in expansion draft in offseason. The receiving corps are as strong as before with addition of Jake Dropson and William Lim, along with huge progress from Red Arrow. That, plus the strengthened rushing offence spearheaded by newfound rushing ability of quarterback Wolfie Mcdummy alongside already elite Ashley Owens, had propelled the Yeti offence near the top of the league despite concerning numbers of turnover.
On the roster side of things, the Yeti acquired wide receiver Jake Dropson from Liberty with a surprisingly low price of only a 10th round pick. Even though Dropson had been mostly inactive, he was seen in the Yeti locker room shortly after he was traded. Dropson saw some action as WR3 for the Yeti so far. Also, the Yeti acquired safety Logan Uchiha from the Hawks as they sent IA cornerback Quentin Sinclair to them. While he is also been inactive for about a month and a half, Uchiha still has about 120 TPE more than Sinclair, and is expected to contribute as an additional piece of already strong Yeti secondary.

<Roster moves>
- Acquired TE Jammerson Irving and S23 8th round pick from Outlaws with S23 3rd round pick.
- Called up TE Jeffery Phillips, DT Big Edd, DT(LB) Deshun Jones and RB Tatsu Nakamura from the DSFL
The Otters are also undefeated so far in this season. The Otters are elite in both offense and defense, especially with their secondary generating 4 interceptions and a pick six and their offence having 7 touchdowns in 3 games. Despite the loss of tight end Johnny Blaze and wide receiver Dexter Banks II, both big contributors in last season's Otter offence, there wasn't a huge decline of productivity for the offence as rookies and existing players filled in the gap while the running game held steadfast with the addition of Rookie Tatsu Nakamura.
On the roster side, the most notable move from the Otters was the Jammerson Irving trade they executed with the Outlaws. The Otters acquired Irving, who is still one of the better tight ends in the league despite being inactive, for a relatively low price of next season's third round draft pick with the whole of his Salary being paid by the Outlaws. Irving will most likely see about two more seasons of playing as he is currently in his first season into regression, so he'll be an ideal stop gap option for the Otters to let rookie Jeffrey Phillips fully develop.

<Roster Moves>
- Traded WR Jake Dropson to Yeti for S22 10th round pick(116th overall)
- Traded QB Tom Sofa to Sailfish for S22 5th round(60th overall) and 7th round(80th overall) picks
- Called up WR Flash Panda, LB Spike suzuki, DT Tristan Gronlie, CB Jonathan Altidor, CB Brandon Booker, S Wesley Eriksen, S Matt Cross and K Lefty Louis from the DSFL
The Liberty was near the bottom of the league last season, finishing with a 3- 10 record. However, they seemed to turned the tide around in a short time as the Liberty is coming off a strong 2-1 start in the 3 games they played so far. Their only loss- the Yeti game- had been a close one, and they had a very impressive blowout win to start out the season against the butchers. The Liberty defense saw a lot of improvement during the offseason and is among the top offense of the league, especially with their secondary, led by rookie phenom Matt Cross who is tied for the lead in interceptions with 2, racked up league leading 5 interceptions and a defensive touchdown. The offense got slightly more pass heavy than last season as quarterback Brock Phoenix progressed a lot through the offseason, but that didn't had a lot success apart from the Butchers game so far into the season.
For the roster moves, the Liberty traded away wide receiver Jake Dropson for a S22 10th round pick which they selected cornerback Alexander Hamilton II with. This move is most likely executed to make a roster spot for Flash Panda, a second round selection of the S21 NSFL draft. As Panda is active, and will most likely exceed Dropson in TPE by midseason, he will be considered an improvement to Dropson. The fact that the Liberty got an additional semi active player was a good bonus. The Liberty traded quarterback Tom Sofa to Sailfish after selecting him with the 56th overall pick in the S22 draft, receiving 5th and 7th round picks in return. The Liberty later selected cornerback Jonathan Altidor with the 5th rounder, and selected tight end Dontello Arrabiata with the 7th round pick. This was most likely a pre arranged trade with the Sailfish, as Liberty had absolutely no need for a quarterback because of Brock Phoenix having multiple season ahead before even regressing. The Liberty gained two active players from this trade, one of whom is currently called up, while the Sailfish gained their quarterback of the future. This trade can be said as a win win.
New Orleans second line
<Game results>
Week 1: 23-12 W vs
Week 2: 20-9 L vs
Week 3: 36-14 W vs
<Roster moves>
- Called up DT Magnus Rikiya, CB Andrew Witten, LB Ugarth the Dissector, WR Ed Barker and DE Dorfus Jimbo Jr.
The defending champion Second line currently sits at second place in ASFC, with the 20-9 loss to the Otters in week 2 being their only loss. The Second Line saw some decline in both offense and defence after they saw the departure of many key players in both sides of the ball like wide receiver Jed Podolak and linebacker Johnny Slothface through expansion draft amd retirement. However, rookies had been filling in those gaps quite nicely and that decline in preformance will be quickly remedied as those rookies progress through thr season. The second line defensive line is still standing strong, as they generated 11 sacks- third most in the league- through the first three games, and new addition Ed Barker had been filling the gap of Podolak quite nicely.
On the roster side, the second line had a relatively quiet offseason without any trades involving player movement. It seems like that the Second line had chosen to fill in the few existing holes in their roster via draft and callups rather than seeking help from outside the organization. As those called up rookies are contributing forbthe team right now, I'd say it was a wise move.
Yellowknife Wraiths

Week 1: 34-12 L @
Week 2: 44-3 W vs
Week 3: 24-14 W vs
<Roster moves>
- Acquired S Chase Jansen from Sailfish with S23 3rd round pick
- Traded QB Chris Ramos and S23 2nd round pick to Sailfish for OL Laszlo Forty- two and S23 3rd round pick
- Called up S Johnny Hellzapoppin, DE patrick Money, DE James Cho, RB Acura Skyline from the DSFL
The Wraiths are currently coming off a two game winning streak after they lost the season opener to the Yeti at Colorado. Their offence is still strong, with aging veterans Cooter Bigsby and Nate Swift still holding strong and younger players like Mathias Hanyadi and rookie Acura Skyline doing well alongside them. Their defence, on the other hand, is a lot stronger than last season especially in the secondary with trade acquisitions and rookie help. Their defensive line also got revamped with addition of two rookie defensive ends- Patrick Money and James Cho- and had been much more productive, generating league leading 12 sacks through the first three games.
On the Roster side, the Wraiths acquired safety Chase Jansen from the Sailfish in exchange of S23 third round pick. Jansen, despite being inactive, still has more than 700 TPE and will provide several seasons of service even though he is entering the first season of regression currently. As the Wraiths needed help in the secondary, I'd say third round pick was a fair price to pay. The Wraiths also traded away quarterback Chris Ramos for Laszlo Forty- two, a lineman who changed positions from wide receiver. Forty- two has more than 1100 TPE and will anchir the Wraiths offensive line for seasons to come. And Ramos being traded away was somewhat inevitable, as GM flyeaglesfly29 had recreate as quarterback Colby Jack, who is now slated as he heir apparent for aging Bigsby. Ramos, whose TPE level is a little row to be a quarterback, didn't had much chance to win the competition. However, he can get some opportunity in the Sailfish, whether as a quarterback or a skill player. This trade is win for all parties involved as Forty- two also wanted a move to a contending team.
San Jose Sabercats
<Game results>
Week 1: 23-14 L @
Week 2: 33-28 W vs
Week 3: 28-16 W vs
<Roster moves>
- Called up DE Chip Otle, LB Lawrence Bass, LB George Fisher, CB Chester Sweets, CB Cadillac Harris and K Matthew McDairmid from the DSFL
The Sabercats are also in a two game winning streak after they lost the opener to the Second Line. But as those two victories were against Outlaws and expansion team Hahalua- not particularly tough opponents to play- it is early to decisively say that the Sabercats are a playoff caliber team. Their matchups against stronger teams like the Otters the Second line will be their true test. Their offense had improved a lot than that of last season, and now sits inside top 5 in both passing and rushing yards. This will be mainly because of their young offensive skill players gaining TPE and entering their prime. Their defense, however, is mostly comprised of first or second year players amd will most likely need some more time to develop. But as the Sabercats are fundamentally a rebuilding team for now, I'd say they had succeeded in that matter.
On the roster moves, the Sabercats didn't made any trades involving players after the draft. This was expected, as the Sabercats roster is mostly conprised of young 'core' players, whom the Sabercats will be unwilling to trade away as they are part of their kong time plan. The possibility of acquiring players through trade is also quite unlikely as the Sabercats are very likely to value future draft picks for their rebuilding.
Sarasota Sailfish
<Game results>
Week 1: 17-13 W @
Week 2: 44-3 L @
Week 3: 25-13 L @
<Roster moves>
- Acquired QB Tom Sofa from Liberty for 5th and 7th round picks
- Traded S Chase Jansen to Wraiths for S23 3rd round pick
- Traded OL Laszlo Forty two and S23 3rd round picks to Wraiths for QB Chris Ramos and S23 2nd round pick
- Called up QB Zack Vega, RB Dax Frost, S Eric Barlow, WR Michael Witheblock, LB Fawn Dillmiballs and LB Haha Mango- panda from the DSFL
The Sailfish lost two games in a row after they upset the Baltimore Hawks on the road in the season opener, to the surprise of many people. However, as those losses were all away games, I'd say that the Sailfish is doing well for an expansion team. They are dead last in passing yards and their rushing stats are also near the bottom with their 3.5 ypc being tied for the last place. But that was expected, as the Sailfish is playing with young and relatively low TPE players especially in the offence with their quarterback playing his first season in the NSFL and many key players being S22 or S21. Their defense, however, had fared a lot better with 3 sacks, 3 interceptions and a defensive touchdown through the 3 games. They also had the largest amount of pass deflections with 22. The Sailfish secondary is mostly younger players while three S18 and one S12 player make up their defensive line. As this defence is performing well despite mostly being young and green, I think they will have great potential.
The Sailfish had been busy this offseason, making 3 trades involving players among many others involving picks and cap spaces. First, they acquired quarterback Tom Sofa from the Liberty in exchange of 5th and 7th round picks during the draft. As current Sailfish quarterback Zach Vega is a bit low on TPE level to be a franchise quarterback, Sofa will most likely be the long term plan for the position as he had been max earning so far. The trade was basically a trade up in the draft, as Sofa had been just selected by the Liberty with the 56th overall pick when the trade was made. Then they traded away safety Chase Jansen and lineman Laszlo Forty- two to the Wraiths. Jansen was inactive, so the Sailfish front office must've thought that a 3rd round pick, which will most likely mean a active player in next season, will be more valuable for the locker room and in long term. Forty- two's case was a bit different, as he requested the trade stating that he wanted to go to a contending team. A move to the Wraiths, a most definitely contending team, will satisfy Forty- two and gained Chris Ramos and a Second rounder for the Sailfish. Ramos will be in a competition with sofa for the long term starter job, but will most likely change positions as his TPE levels are also a bit low for a quarterback.
Honolulu Hahalua
<Game results>
Week 1: 17-7 L @
Week 2: 27-14 W vs
Week 3: 28-16 L @
<Roster moves>
- Called up WR William Alexander, DT Phat Boi and RB White Goodman from the DSFL
The Hahalua is in similar situation with their fellow expansion team, the Sailfish. They're 1-2 in the season, with all their losses being in the road games. Their passing offense is second to last in the league in yards, but they are among the highest in quarterback ratings and is in the middle range with 4 touchdowns. So this lack of many yards will be a product of run favored offence, especially as Hahalua passing offence is quite well off with quarterback Corvo Havran and Wide receiver Jed Podolak among many others. The running game is along the lwague average, which is impressive stat with rookie Goodman taking the lion's share of the carries. Their defensive line is also decent, having generated 6 sacks so far. Their secondary, however, might need some improvement in the future as they onl had 1 interception so far.
The Hahalua focused on building their roster through expansion draft and NSFL draft, so they didn't particopate in many trades involving players after the draft as their main target was more picks in S22 draft. And they also called up only 3 rookies, which is one of the smallest callup class in the NSFL, amd opted to mainly play the veterans forbthebfirst season. Their strategy here is to let the rookies develop into enough TPE levels to cokpete in the NSFL level. Their call ups had only been in the positions which needed a player as there were not enough.
Baltimore Hawks
<Game results>
Week 1: 17-13 L vs
Week 2: 36-3 W @
Week 3: 19-15 L vs
<Roster moves>
- Traded S Logan Uchiha and S23 3rd round pick to Yeti for CB Quentin Sinclair and S23 2nd round pick
- Called up OL Byron Dolls, QB Chika Fujiwara, TE James Lewandowski, RB Rick Scuff, LB Derred De Ville, DT Nuniq Annastesia, CB Eldrick Avery and CB Ben Stackinpaper from the DSFL
The Hawks had saw some decline of performance from last season as they went from a playoff team to a 1-2 start for the season. Offensively, their passing game isn't that elite as they are 10th in passing yards and tied for 9th in passing touchdown. This was expected as they lost their Framchise quarterback Corvo Havran to the Hahalua and rookie Chika Fujiwara will likely struggle for some time until she gains 700+ TPE. So, the Hawks rand the ball the most in the leaguebwith success, averaging 4.5 yatds per carry, which is 5th in the league. Defensively, the Hawks defensive line had been productive and generated 10 sacks so far, while the secondary didn't record any interceptions. That is most likely because the Hawks just finished remedying the hole in the posituon in S22 draft, and many starters in the position are rookies. They'll Certainly get a lot better as they progress.
For roster moves, the Hawks recently traded safety Logan Uchiha to the Yeti for cornerback Quentin Sinclair. The Hawks' main focus in this draft would most likely have been in the 2nd round pick they received from the Yeti, as the next draft class is in the smaller side and one round can have some significant difference in player level available. There might not be a max earner available in the 3rd round in classes this small. So, the Yeti gained a better player to help them win now, and the Hawks got a better future value. This trade can be said as a win win.
Austin Copperheads
<Game results>
Week 1: 24-24 tie @
Week 2: 27-14 L @
Week 3: 37-23 L vs
<Roster moves>
- Acquired RB Ryan Leaf Jr. From Butchers With S22 9th round pick
- Traded S23 3rd, 4th and conditional 5th round pick to Butchers for S Jack Rambo and S23 4th round pick
- Called up WR Eddie Jeeta, DE Troen Egghands and S Gregor McGregor from the DSFL
The Copperheads' situation is very peculiar. They are most definitely built as a contending team, and yet they are near the bottom of the league in this stretch of the season. It is rumored that there were some problems with the Copperheads sim file, which had their win rate drop for a significant bit. In my opinion, wither the rumor is true or the Copperheads are extremely unlucky. Stats show that their rushing offence and defence as a whole had a significant drop in performance despite not suffering heavy loss in the offseason, while turnovers increased a lot in passing offence. Whatever is the case, I'm quite sure that the Copperheads will return to higher up in the league as season progresses as they certainly have the roster enough for a legitimate Ultimus contender.
The Copperheads had acquired two veteran players from the Butchers. The first of whom is runningback ryan leaf Jr, who had been traded for a 9th round pick after demanding trade from the Butchers. The Copperheads were able to get leaf- a 900+ TPE runningback despite regression- in a bargain price of one 9th rounder because they had the upr hand in the trade due to the fact that the Leaf wants out isbcommon knowledge. The other addition is Safety Jack Rambo, who they had acquired with a third, swap of the fourth rounders, and a conditional fifth rounder. Rambo, despite regression, still has almost 550 TPE, and will be a serviceable starter for some time. It is most likely that he will play as a cirnerback or as a nickel in the Copperheads secondary which is full of safeties and lack a cornerback.
Arizona Outlaws
<Game results>
Week 1: 24-24 tie vs
Week 2: 33-28 L @
Week 3: 36-14 L
<Roster moves>
- Traded TE Jammerson Irving and S23 8th round pick to Otters for S23 3rd round pick
- Traded QB Georgr O'Donnell to Butchers fir S23 3rd round pick
- Called up S Quinn Hughes, RB Baby Yoda, CBs Atlas Quin, Zamir Kehla, and Tyler Oles Jr, WR Thomas Passman, TE Heath Evans, DT Calude Miller II, DE Sandro Ryeu, LB Stanislaw Koniecpolski, OL Bruce Buckley and OL Clavin Golladay from the DSFL
The outlaws are tied for the bottom of the ASFC with two losses and a tie. The passing offence looks good with passing yards and touchdowns leading the league. However, their rushing offence had suffered in their stead as they only got 312 yards and 4 ypc. The defence made enough big plays with 9 sacks and 4 interceptions, but there might be some problems there as they allowed the average of 31 point per game in this 3 game stretch. However, all things considered, the Otlaws are doing good as they are a rebuilding team, and will need some time until the young core that they drafted with their numerous draft picks in this draft develop into good players in NSFL level. For rebuilding, the Outlaws are doing a great job as they essentially rebuilt the team in one draft, and significantly shortened the rebuilding period.
The Otlaws traded away two players this offseason. First, they sent tight end Jammerson Irving to the Otters fir S23 3rd rounder. While Irving is still one if the better tight ends in the league, he is regressing and inactive, hence not suited for a rebuilding team. A 3rd round pick for an inactive player is a big value and rookie Heath Evans will exceed Irving's TPE levl in a short while. Then they sent George O'Donnell to the Butchers for another 3rd rounder. This is mostly because of the fact that O'Donnell had no place in Outlaws roster because of Jay Cue still being young and having a lot of prime years left. Butchers, on the other hand, desperately needed a quarterback of the future as Rose Jenkins is set to retire at the end of this season, so were willing to give a relatively good value of 3rd round pick for him. All in all, this is a win win for both teams and O'Donnell, who'll get to play in NSFL next season.
Chicago Butchers
<Game results>
Week 1: 51-10 L @
Week 2: 36-3 L vs
Week 3: 24-14 L @
<Roster moves>
- Traded RB Ryan leaf Jr to Copperheads for 9th round pick(103rd overall)
- Acquired QB George O'Donnell from Outlaws for S23 3rd round pick
- Traded S Jack Rambo and S23 4th round pick to Copperheads for S23 3rd, 4th and conditional 5th round pick.
The Butchers are sitting at the rock bottom of the NSFC as well as the entire NSFL with 3 losses and no wins. They are near the bottom in both offence and defence. This was expected, as the Butchers are just entering rebuilding mode after several failed attempts to win now. The Butchers didn't had many draft picks, was short in cap space, and many star players like Ahri E, Rose Jenkins and Ryan Leaf Jr. Either retired or wanted out. So they had to make due eith what they had, and use the pick capital they had very carefully. The new management there had been doing great jobs with turning the team around with trades and a good draft, but they still have a long way to go. They will most likely need a couple of seasons before they can be conpetitive again.
The Butchers had been busy in the offseason. Forst, they finally traded runningback Ryan Leaf Jr. To the Copperheads for the 103rd overall pick after almost half a season after he requested a trade. Given the situation, I'm quite sure that a 9th round pick was about the maximum the Butchers could get from Leaf, especially after he regressed. The Butchers , however, drafted active safety Abbas Muhammad with that pick, so they got some decent value out of it. And then, they traded away their safety Jack Rambo to the Copperheads for a 3rd, swap of the 4th, and a conditional 5th in the next draft. This trade is simple. The Butchers needed as much picks that they can gather, and it's not like a regressing amd inactive 550TPE safety can do a lot to help them win, anyway. So the Copperheads got a serviceable player and the Butchers got a much needed draft capital. And finally, they traded for George O'Donnell with a 3rd round pick they just got from the Copperheads. This was a wise trade as the Outlaws had no room for O'Donnell because of Jay Cue, and many teams had filled their quarterback needs through the draft, which dropped O'Donnell's value. So the Butchers only had to pay a relatively lower price of a 3rd round pick while gaining the quarterback of the future and a active user in the locker room.

- Traded OL Laszlo Forty two and S23 3rd round picks to Wraiths for QB Chris Ramos and S23 2nd round pick
