BENOIT BLANCO | NORFOLK SEAWOLVES | WR
AGE: 18
HEIGHT: 6’4
WEIGHT: 192lbs
HANDEDNESS: Right
BORN IN: Gatineau, Quebec
NATIONALITY: Canadian
DESCRIPTION OF PLAYER
Benoit Blanco is one of few French-Canadian football players to break out into the professional leagues. At a young age he was told by his parents that whatever he chose to do with his life, they would accept it and help him prosper, but they could have never known that dedication behind their son would lead him here. Blanco is a versatile receiver who is known for his speed, agility and hands, he loves to dance around defenders and will make people look silly doing so. His acceleration is bar-none and a lot of people cannot keep up with him when he truly get’s going, which is scary for a lot of defenders.
Teams that know Blanco know his work ethic, he shows up to training camp to work as hard as possible, he’s constantly training through the off-season and throughout the season, making sure to check in regularly with his team and coaching staff, listening to their advice on what to improve and putting his mind to the matter and not letting them down. His dedication is also something to keep in mind when looking at Blanco, he is very loved by his teammates once they get to know him and as long as the team has his back, then the team is always his main priority.
SCOUTING QUESTIONARRE
Will you change position? : A lot of people have asked this question and I think it’s a good thing to ask. When looking at Benoit Blanco, while he is performing very well as a rookie receiver, he has openly admitted and stated that he will change position. When asked if he has a preference for changes, he has mentioned several including quarterback, cornerback, runningback, safety and tight end. While this information is now public, it may make people take a second glance at him.
Will contract money be an issue? : According to Blanco, he’ll sign for the minimum his whole career and have absolutely no care for contract money. His main sources of income will prove greater than a contract once per-season and if it helps the team, he is drafted to with their finances to sign guys who actually need the contracts, then he is happy to abide.
How will you earn money each season? : Very easily, shall we say. Blanco’s agent xQCFamous has made a name for himself in a short amount of time for making a lot of graphics for other agents to display their players and this will likely be his main source of income with about 10 weeks’ worth of requests lined up already to be posted on the forums. Blanco has also stated that his agent really enjoys writing media articles so you can expect him to post these types of articles from time to time to earn additional income.
What is your activity level expected to be? : When it comes to his dedication and commitment to the team and the league, he is at an all-time high and his plans to continue that remain adamant. Blanco has stated that he will ensure that he is around when needed and he is going to do his best to show everyone that he is in it for the long haul. This also means that people can expect consistency and reliability which is hard to find nowadays.
Are point tasks an issue to do? : Absolutely not, is the straight forward answer. As soon as there is an option for a new task that goes up, whether it is predictions for the upcoming games, the actual main point task, or the trivia that goes up, as well as any ‘special’ tasks that may arise, you can count on Blanco and his agent to be one of the first to get it done and always ensure he is claiming the max possible points to get ahead of the curve. Blanco wants to be known as the best, and so he will do all he can to become the best.
What ‘type’ of team is Benoit looking for? : At this point in time, Blanco has kept a very open mind when it comes to the team that drafts him. He has no needs outside of activity and just enjoyment, as long as a team can provide those things, the stage they are in within the league plays no part into how Blanco feels about them. A lot of teams may look at Blanco as being quite young, and because of this, he can understand that it is very likely to be a rebuilding/re-tooling team that selects him, however if he goes to a contender, he will be just as happy with his position and his role on that team.
Is Benoit okay playing in the DSFL again? : Again, a very simple answer here in yes, he is. Blanco has evaluated the skill level and the practice hours needed to make it successfully in the NSFL and he realizes that while his talent is sprouting, he is not quite there yet and likely will not be there by the time the draft occurs. Because of this, he is absolutely okay with playing another season in the minor league while his talents continue to blossom and he proves his worth to his NSFL team, at which time they will likely call him up and use him to the best of his abilities.
PROS OF HIS ABILITIES
SPEED: A major part to the game that makes up Blanco’s abilities is his speed and being able to just blow past the opposition whenever he is needed. This is a particularly good skill to have as it allows him to get away from defensive players, as well as get open when other players may not be able to due to being slightly slower. Another reason this is such a key aspect of his game is because it means a quarterback can feel confident in throwing the ball deep and really getting an open reception because of his speed and being able to make it down the field before other players, after juking them of course.
HANDS: As a receiver, if you don’t have your hands to rely on, then what do you truly have? Now Benoit is French, he knows how to use his hands in many ways (hello ladies…) however in the game of football, his hand-eye coordination and his ability to snatch the ball at weird angles, in the air, on the run and so on is phenomenal, and not only is his ability to catch the ball great, but his ability to keep the ball during pressure situations is even more stellar. If you want someone that is reliable as can be on all aspects of offense and receiving, this is your boy. Maybe just don’t introduce him to your girlfriend right away…
AGILITY: A big part of being speedy, is also being agile. This means being quick on your feet, getting the first hop on a play and also being able to turn on a dime, see plays quicker than anyone else, and make plays that people may have not even thought possible. The more agile the player, the better they are and Blanco is about as agile as you can get. A defender is going to have a very hard time stopping this man on the run, once he gets going, he doesn’t stop, and he’ll break your ankles or leave you in the dust if he has to, embarrassing the opposition and likely making them want to cry home to their mothers because of how embarrassed they got. If you want someone that is going to make people cry with his moves, then this is the guy for you.
ABILITIES THAT COULD USE IMPROVEMENT
STRENGTH: While Blanco is a very big boy with a lot of muscle and conditioning, currently his speed and his agility is more of an important game then using brute force to break a tackle or shove people off of him. It’s not to say if someone grabs at him or insults him, that he won’t make sure they pay for it, but currently in the minor league, it is just not a main focus. But don’t worry GM’s, this is far from a concern because he knows eventually it’ll have to be incorporated into his play and he will make sure that it is done as needed.
INTELLIGENCE: Don’t worry, Benoit went to school and was actually very smart while doing so, currently still studying in college, however this intelligence we speak of us more “on-field” than anything else, and again, really shouldn’t be a concern for the long haul, just more of the short-term. When it comes to his game, Blanco can do just about anything needed as a receiver, that said, speed and agility still triumph a lot of the other little bits needed to make up a well-rounded game, and because of this, intelligence falls down the list of things needed, for now. Please keep note that this will rise as the player continues to get better, and he will likely be good when it comes to being at an NSFL level.
ARM/THROWING/KICK POWER/ACCURACY: All of this stuff…unless he magically changes positions, very far off his required needs at the moment. Because they are literally “1”, it will not change his game in any way and again not affect it unless a position change is required, at which point it will be updated substantially and worked on. All GM’s take note, right now, he is not some weird hybrid player, so you do not need to worry about these abilities, as he is not worried about them in the slightest.
QUOTES FROM TEAMMATES
@hotdog - "Benoit Blanco is known for having one of the best names in the DSFL - though it sounds more like the name of a undertalented trap rapper who made a ton of money slinging drugs and then funded his own rap career (a la Waka Flocka Flame and Gucci Mane) but eventually got 6-7 for unlicensed firearms, he's actually just a wide receiver prospect for the Norfolk Seawolves. I enjoy matching up against Blanco in practice, and after practice we go back and forth seeing who can make meaner faces."
@J0EB - "Blanco has been an awesome presence in the locker room and talking with him has been a blast. He's been a stud in games too, averaging nearly 10 yards per catch. Despite being a late addition, he's put in some great work and really fits in well with this talented receiving corps"
@Blasoon - "Blanco's a good teammate. He can be quite intense sometimes, but I think that's a good thing. I was told he often visualises how he wants the games to go. I thought it was just metaphorical or something until I saw it. It was kinda magical, y'know. Of course if we lose, he takes it real hard. There's often a lot of French rants, but of course I only understand the cuss words. Overall, I'd have to give him a Laval out of ten. It's a nice place, and he's a nice player, but I believe they're both a bit under the radar, and if more people checked it out, they'd be quite pleasantly surprised."
@Aenir - "Yakka Foob Mog. Grug Pubbawup Zing wattoom Gazork. Chumble Spuzz."
@Confictional - "Benoit is a great teammate. A true competitor when it comes to playing on the field. I love him because even if we play a little scrimmage game, he always acts like he is playing a championship game, the same kind of spirit I have honestly. There was a few things that we both learned off from each other, since we both play wide receiver; however, I think he taught me the most things that I implement in my game. Without him, I would say I would not be as good right now if it weren't for him. He is truly a gem for Norfolk and any NSFL team would be very lucky to have him on their team."[/div]
