@Billybolo53
What do you feel needs to change as far as the agent rules/Tampering rules?
There are a couple things that I think can be changed.
- Agents should be able to talk any and all GMs regarding their clients, but have to refrain from going into actual contract details until the "legal tampering" period at the end of the season. This will help players move around a bit more, which has been one thing people have wanted to see instead of everyone staying with a team for 12 seasons before retiring.
- have a special Agent/Player "tamper period" that extends past the normal period. Sure, this may not be too useful since I believe we already have three days before free agency opens, but it makes it worthwhile for players to sign with an agent so they can use this period to their benefit.
- There should be some sort of compensation for either the agent or player. Again, increases the amount of people who would use an agent if there is some sort of compensation involved.
- maybe some sort of media share for articles specifically about the player/agency. This is a further out there idea and I would totally understand if it gets shut down because of how they dont like media sharing already.
Beside contract value, what is the biggest thing you do for your clients?
I will write media and tweets regarding the players in my agency. If they are entering a draft, I will write up a draft profile, highlighting their pros and cons to get their draft stock increased. I might also do something for players about to hit free agency or maybe an end-of-year write-up detailing what my clients have been doing.
I will be doing research based on other players at their position to see what they are being paid and asking for in their contracts to get my clients at least on par, or even greater than what is currently out there. I want contracts to have more bonus clauses in them to pay those that perform over their current contracts. It will be beneficial to the teams to have these clauses since if they are not met, they have additional cap space for bonuses at the end of the season that they may dish out however they like. I currently have 27 unique clauses that I hope to use, or at least discuss at some point with my clients.
