[div align=\\\"center\\\"]A look at stat priorities for Cornerbacks
[/div]
Greetings!
Today I'm going to be presenting the data on cornerbacks. (Slowly working my way through the defense).
I'm hoping I will have finished all positions by the time season 2 starts. The main reason for this is so we can see how attributes change and scale differently as seasons go on.
Alright first up is the CB stats.
and then the CB attributes
And now for the correlation
First up is tackling:
The stats priority seems to be
Speed >> Strength = Hands > Endurance > Intelligence.
Speed is king. I'd like to point out that Speed is generally very good across the board and this differs from LB's needing more tackling. It seems like CB's don't need as much tackling to bring their targets down. If recievers have high agility then I'm not entirely sure what the cause is other than maybe something like strength or weight playing a factor.
I'll post tackle for loss just for fun, but honestly there is very little data on this.
Stat Priority:
Speed > Agility
Next up is forced fumbles.
Similar to TFL, this isn't too frequent and kind of random so take this with a grain of salt. Interestingly enough, this is the first time we've seen endurance top the charts on anything. Strength and speed following seems normal. Pretty interesting either way.
Alright, enough teasing. Time for the thing everyone is interested in.
Interceptions:
Stat priority:
Speed > Hands >> Intelligence > Tackling
Speed and hands are both very important. Intelligence seems like it helps get interceptions, but about less than half that speed does. Again, if you look at the CB archetypes, Man is performing super well and this has a lot to do with it. I'm hoping later on that zone with high intelligence or agility to ball hawk instead of getting burned. However everything seems to favor speed, the god stat.
Next up is passes defended.
Stat Priority
Speed > Endurance > Hands > Tackling > Strength > Intelligence
Speed on top again. Surprised? Well you shouldn't be. I do like to see how important endurance is to a CB, playing this man to man coverage and running so much would be incredibly exhausting and I'm glad that the sim is taking this in to account.
Now again, football is very random, this simulation is very random and I don't have a ton of data to work with. These results come with the "use at your own risk" disclaimer.
Speed is definitely the most important stat for CBs, After that. I think Endurance and Hands are both pretty great and then you can sprinkle some points in to strength, intelligence and tackling.
I wasn't sure if I should lump safeties and CBs together.
I know one safety played as a CB all season and got some really solid stats for S1. I'm open to suggestions about that. If you want me to add that player to the CBs and then do Safeties without him, that's fine or I can just do it as listed player position.
Anyways, Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for reading!
