The following audio recording is courtesy of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. They are offering a one million dollar reward for any information that can be used to determine how the hostage was taken or the motive behind the kidnapping. Some viewers may find the content you are about to hear disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised.
“HELP! HELP ME! My name is Justin Helanen. This crazy guy has me locked up in the basement. I...I got this old radio to work. Please you have got to get me out of here. I have been tortured for months. He has all sorts of...tools, contraptions, things....he is a monster.
He talks a lot and it doesn’t always make sense. Wears this weird hood and he has drained my blood with needles. Keeps bags of it, has a whole supply of it. He poured some of it in a glass and drank from it right in front of me. His laughter was terrible, he thinks he’s a vampire.
He grabbed me while I was sleeping in my own house. I don’t know how long ago, I’ve lost track of the days. He says he killed Thomas...my son. Oh god, he’s back. I thought he left, I heard him leave....if anyone can hear me, please save me. I need someone, anyone as quickly as possible. Call the poli...
*sound of a door opening, slow footsteps, and maniacal laughter*
No please. Please! Not again. I’ll...
*SHRILL, AGONIZED SCREAMING*
*NEARLY INCOHERENT* HELP! GAH, STOPPP! PLEASE! HELP!
*recording goes dead*”
The victim heard in the tape, picked up by an FBI surveillance team situated outside of murder suspect and Arizona Outlaws wide receiver Thomas Passmann’s residence, is believed to be 52-year-old Justin Helanen, father of former Wraiths wide receiver Tommy Helanen. He identifies himself as such in the recording. After his son died of a heart attack a little over a year ago, bringing his NSFL career to an abrupt end, Justin disappeared a few days later. It was as though he simply vanished off the face of the Earth. No messages or notes were left behind, and he did not contact anyone before disappearing. There was no trail or indication of where he had gone or of what had happened to this poor grieving father.
His boss filed a missing persons report after he failed to show up for work or notify them of his absence for a week. Police officers were dispatched to the Helanen residence but no sign of Justin was found. There were no signs of foul play or a struggle either. No blood, no fingerprints, no DNA; everything was searched by crime scene techs top to bottom, just to do the job thoroughly. There was no nothing, not a single clue. But given the grief Mr. Helanen must have felt after losing his son, detectives found it likely that he had wandered off to commit suicide.
The FBI surveillance team that picked it up was monitoring Thomas Passmann’s house from a white van parked down the street. The Bureau wanted any evidence that could help put him away at his trial for first degree murder, which will finally happen next week. The pandemic has pushed back this trial, delaying it many times for logistical reasons, but the federal government believes that Passmann is such a serious threat to public safety that it can not wait any longer. If Passmann wipes out an entire city block first, then who the heck cares about the coronavirus? Coronavirus can’t kill people if Passmann does it first, so clearly getting him put away is the top priority and must take precedence over all other concerns.
Anyhow, the FBI’s listening devices picked it up and recording the entire thing. It was given to the media at a press conference a few hours later. The signal was narrowed down to one of three houses, either Passmann’s or his two neighbors, but they are almost ready to rule out the other two without even asking. When you have to decide whether a Satanic vampire is a blood-drinking, hooded, sadistic kidnapper, or whether it’s two normal average Americans, the vampire seems the logical choice.
The FBI announced that they were currently executing a search warrant at the residence and detaining Thomas Passmann at the time of the press conference. They were still conducting the search, in cooperation with local law enforcement, at the time of publication, so it remains to be seen whether it will turn up anything.
