Brick Van Sanzo - DE - University of Minnesota
Ht: 6’4” Wt: 280lbs
Player Bio
He was rated by Rivals.com as a four-star recruit and was ranked as the third best defensive end in his class, eventually committing to his home town gophers, immediately in his first season Brick started 11 of 14 games while recording 40 tackles and 8.5 sacks. From that point on everyone knew this would be a turning point for that defense, as he quickly climbed his way up to a staple on the defense with teammates saying things about him such as "That dude scares the hell out of me" and "I changed position from Oline after watching him for 10 minutes in practice"
Overview
A combination of speed and strength, he gets off the line and relies on power to push off lineman to get to RBs and QBs with the precision of a ball of razor blades.
Strengths
-Great speed and strength off the line to send tackles off balance
-Great run stuffer
-Great awareness
Weaknesses
- Speaks in mostly grunts and threatening gestures
- Not the best tackler despite his strength and speed
- Scares his own offense sometimes
