Preface: I'm very new to football, so my analysis is gonna be very bad lol. Also this is my first article so hopefully I get the 2x pay!
A season of DSFL has come to an end, now we can revisit the draft and see how the rookies performed in one season and how well did the teams draf
LONDON ROYALS
Pick 7 - Juan Domine - LB - 246 TPE
Pick 14 - Busch Light - LB - 234 TPE
Pick 23 - Harrison Andrews - DE - 215 TPE
Pick 36 - Bob Smith - DE - 98 TPE
Pick 39 - Tre'Darius J'vathon - WR - 218 TPE
Pick 41 - Frank Michell - TE - 139 TPE
Pick 43 - Charlemagne Cortez - QB - 212 TPE
Pick 47 - Gunnar Thorbjornsson - WR - 212 TPE
Pick 55 - Jay Mccowski - DE - 57 TPE
The London Royals started their draft with two solid Defensive Linebackers. Juan Domine and Busch Light. Domine lead the league in tackles with 166 and had 3 TFLs. He also had a solid performance in the Royals' only playoff game with 10 tackles as well as 2 PDs and 2 Interceptions. Light was slightly behind in tackles with 116 but was solid in defending passes with 10 PDs, the most by any linebackers. Being the only two human linebackers as well as max earners, they were valuable additions to the defensive lineup. Continuing down the draft, they drafted 2 more defensive ends in Harrison Andrews and Bob Smith. Harrison has a nice TPE gain ending the season with 215 but Bob ended with under 100. Harrison had a nice rookie year contribute a solid 44 tackles and 7 TFLs. Bob didn't have as much of an impact as Harrison with only 34 tackles and 1 TFL. The London's first offensive pickups come in Tre'Darius J'vathon and Frank Michell. In the draft, there were 5 wide receivers that reached over 200 TPE and Darius was the second last one to be picked out of that group. Playing the second WR, he performed as well as the other rookie WR with 43 receptions for 519 yards and 3 touchdowns (the most out of all of the rookies). Frank Michell wasn't effective/used in the defensive lineup but played also as another receiving option with 40 catches for 281 yards and 2 touchdowns. Charlemagne was drafted as their backup catcher but didn't have the greatest first season. He only completed 48.7% passes and had the second lowest QB rating in the league with 55.7. Lastly, the Royal's last notable pickup is Gunnar Thorbjornsson, another WR who is similar to Tre'Darius. Thorbjornsson leads all of the rookie WRs with yards gained at 587 and to a solid 13.3 yards per catch. All in all, the Royals made solid gains in their offense with two solid WRs as well as a QB (with bad luck) for next year improving their offense points to be second best in the league from fourth last season. The two linebackers are solid replacements for leaving players resulting in a small improvement in defensive team stats
MINNESOTA GREY DUCKS
Pick 6 - Alejandro Chainbreaker - LB - 256 TPE
Pick 9 - Woodrow Brooks - DE - 135 TPE
Pick 22 - Azarius Ranger - DE - 157 TPE
Pick 34 - Rashad Hillard - CB - 145 TPE
Pick 54 - Oliver Sloan - S - 124 TPE
Pick 62 - Timothy Martins III - RB - 50 TPE
With the Ducks first pick, they selected Alejandro Chainbreaker, a linebacker. Alejandro played briefly in S22 with the Ducks and since they liked him enough, they picked him up with their first pick. Alejandro has had a great season this year. He only had 102 tackles and 2 TFL but forced 4 fumbles and recovered 2. He also defended 9 passes, the second most by a linebacker this season. His performance earned him Linebacker of the Year as well as Defensive Player of the Year beating Juan Domine in both categories. The next four picks are more defensive improvements, however none of them creep back 200 TPE. Woodrow Brooks despite his low TPE produced the the second most TFLs in the league with 18 and Rashad Hillard was very solid with 7 interceptions, the most in the league, and 55 tackles. Rashad placed second in voting for the DPOTY ending behind Chainbreaker. Overall, this draft was great for the Ducks defensively this year, but the TPE earned is not up to par compared to other teams.
PORTLAND PYTHONS
Pick 2 - Dorothy Zbornak - DE - 222 TPE
Pick 10 - Joel Drake - S - 203 TPE
Pick 18 - Myles Smith - LB - 133 TPE
Pick 26 - Sam Howitzer - QB - 261 TPE
Pick 30 - Mai Fukushu - RB - 246 TPE
Pick 31 - Korbin Brown - WR - 224 TPE
Pick 42 - John Price - CB - 67 TPE
Pick 46 - Alpha Centauri - DT - 59 TPE
Pick 50 - Sebastian Low - DE - 57 TPE
Pick 52 - Ruhu Rush - S - 57 TPE
Pick 58 - Jason Polinger - S - 50 TPE
With their first 6 picks, the Pythons have managed to draft 5 players that have over 200 TPE. With the second overall pick, they picked Dorothy Zbornak a 222 TPE Defensive End. Dorothy mustered 46 tackles but only 10 TFLs. Joel Drake comes in at 10th overall with 203 TPE. He was also solid as the Free Safety getting 60+ tackles and 22 PDs (2nd highest). Sam Howitzer is the primary and only QB for the team and was okay as a rookie QB with 2157 yards passed in 192 completion but ultimately wasn't enough as the Pythons rank last in pass yards in DSFL. If he stays down for another year, he will definitely be one of the better QB in the league. With Picks 30 and 31, the Pythons picked up a pair of offensive players, Mai Fukushu (RB) and Korbin Brown (WR). Both were not too impactful on this season as Mai was playing backup and Korbin was the second option WR. Nonetheless, both will definitely secure starter roles next season and will be impactful then. As the Pythons settle for last in their division this season, they did draft some solid offensive pieces that will definitely help them push to a better record next seasons.
KANSAS CITY COYOTES
Pick 1 - Asher Montain - DE - 265 TPE
Pick 15 - Joshua Campbell - WR - 252 TPE
Pick 17 - Brach Thomaslacher - LB - 236 TPE
Pick 25 - LeBong Simwell - DT - 200 TPE
Pick 33 - Sergio Kitchens - RB - 207 TPE
Pick 49 - Delta Airlines - LB - 50 TPE
Pick 57 - Nacho Davis - TE - 50 TPE
Like the Pythons, the Kansas City Coyotes drafted well with their first 5 picks being over 200 TPE at season end. With the first overall pick, the Coyotes drafted Asher Montain who was 2nd in TPE behind Zoe Watts. Asher was solid on defense with 11 TFLs and 60+ tackles. With their 3rd and 4th picks, they improved their defense with Linebacker, Brach Thomaslacher and Defensive Tackle, LeBong Simwell. Thomaslacher had 8 TFLs (highest for LB) and 100 tackles while Simwell has 7 TFL and 3 sacks. Ultimately, these picks did improve the defense to be one of the best in the league from when their defense in S22 was middle of the pack. Onto the offsenive side, The Coyotes drafted receiver Joshua Campbell with their second pick and running back Sergio Kitchens with their 6th pick. Campbell was very solid as the second WR, receiving over 500 yards for a solid 13.6 average per catch and Kitchens as well going almost 1000 yards rushed. The last two late picks are for purely depth as they haven't earned any TPE. Nonetheless, the Coyotes drafted very well which propelled them from last in S22 to first.
DALLAS BIRDDOGS
Pick 4 - Zoe Watts - RB - 268 TPE
Pick 12 - Nerdy Name - S - 154 TPE
Pick 20 - Taro Raimon - WR - 237 TPE
Pick 28 - Mattathius Caliban - QB - 251 TPE
Pick 38 - Sasha Medvid - DE - 108 TPE
Pick 60 - Garry Winthorpe - S - 50 TPE
In this draft, the Birddogs mainly focuses on offensive players. With their first pick, they picked Zoe Watts fourth overall. Zoe has accumulated the most TPE (3 more than 1OA Asher Montain). Zoe was very productive in her rookie season, with 1160 rushing yards over 237 attempts for an average of 4.9 yds and 9 touchdowns. Her best performance came in week 12 where she rushing 110 yards in 23 attempts for 3 touchdowns in a crucial 31-28 wins over the Coyotes. That performance was voted the 3rd best offensive performance of the season. At the end, she was voted the 2nd best offensive rookie (behind WR C. Theeks) and 3rd in best running back. For their second pick, the Birddogs drafted a Safety, Nerdy Name who sits at a modest 154 TPE. He had a notable performance in Week 5 where he induced 11 tackles, 1 PD, 1 Interception and even got a touchdown. He received votes in the 'Defensive Performance of the Year Category' for that performance. With the 20th overall pick, the Birddogs chose WR Taro Raimon (that's me!). Taro performed well as the second WR, going 562 yards in 42 passes. He will be the number 1 receiver for the team next season and could be in contention for WR of the year in S24. With their fourth pick, they chose Mattathius Caliban who was used as the only QB for team. Caliban performed the best out of all rookie QBs passing 2325 yards which is the second most out of the league. Caliban earned votes in Rookie Offensive Player of the year and QB of the Year. Sasha was picked in the late rounds with a below average 108 TPE. Nonetheless, she still performed well with 12 TFLs. All in all, all of these offensive pickups are solid and I believe all of them are staying down for another season which solidifies a portion of the offensive team for the Birddogs in S24.
NORFOLK SEAWOLVES
Pick 5 - Quentin Button - S - 246 TPE
Pick 13 - Sigismund Sternenstaub - DT - 197 TPE
Pick 21 - Captain Rogers - RB - 195 TPE
Pick 29 - Rickie Vaughne - CB - 176 TPE
Pick 37 - Ragnar Krashwagen - TE - 173 TPE
Pick 44 - Chad Simpson - DE - 129 TPE
Pick 45 - Thad Pennington Jr. - OL - 113 TPE
Pick 53 - Logan Hex - WR - 63 TPE
The S23 DSFL Champions Norfolk Seawolves picked Quentin Button with their first pick and utlized him in the strong safety position. He was relatively average through the season with 60 tackles and 2 forced fumbles. With their second pick, they picked up defensive tackle Sigismund Sternenstaub who just ended the season barely under 200 TPE. He was also relatively average with only 26 tackles and 1 TFL. Continuing on defensive improvements. They picked cornerback Rickie Vaughne with their 5th pick who has 176 TPE. He was pretty solid with almost 60 tackles, 2 interceptions and 8 PDs. Wrapping up the defensive additions, the Seawolves drafted Chad Simpson and Thad Pennington Jr. with the 44th and 45th overall picks. The pair are a long way from joining the ISFL squads with only 129/113 TPE but have been great for the Seawolves. Pennington Jr. plays on the OL and was tied for the 2nd most pancakes with 49 and 0 sacks allowed charged to himself. Chad Simpson produced 15 TFLs which is the fifth most in the season. On the offensive side. Captain Rogers was drafted with their third pick with 195 TPE. He lands around the middle of the pack compared to other RBs but has rushing a solid 998 yards for 4 touchdowns and an average of 5.1 (2nd best among qualified RBs). He had an amazing performance in the DSFL Ultimus bowl with 100 yards rushed for 5.9 avg yards. Ragnar Krashwagen was picked at 37th overall as a Tight End and played as a receiving option. He was okay with 326 received yards and 3 touchdowns. The last Seawolves pick was wiode receiverLogan Hex who is going to be a full-time DSFL player with only 63 TPE. Nonetheless, he still gave the team 3 receiving touchdowns. All in all, the draft picks that the Seawolves drafted aren't the highest in TPE, but did help them improve their defense to be the best in the league and ultimately help win them the Bowl in Season 23.
MYRTLE BEACH BUCCANEERS
Pick 3 - Jeremiah Zelos - LB - 157 TPE
Pick 11 - Arlington Heights - DE - 180 TPE
Pick 19 - Grummy Bear - S - 130 TPE
Pick 32 - Joseph Joestar - QB - 257 TPE
Pick 51 - Ne Mo - TE - 200 TPE
Pick 59 - Wyatt Fulton Jr. - CB - 50 TPE
Pick 61 - Michael Cera - DT - 50 TPE
Holding the 3rd overall pick, The Myrtle Beach Buccos selected Jeremiah Zelos a linebacker. Zelos has been solid on the line with over 100 tackles, 6 sacks and 7 PDs. Arlington Heights was picked next as the Defensive End and he was amazing as well. He got 17 TFLs and 7 Sacks along with 45 tackles which helped him get 2nd in voting for the Defensive ROTY. Grummy Bear was picked 19th overall as a safety. With only 130 TPE, Bear produced some good numbers on the defensive side with 68 tackles, 5 sacks and 2 interceptions. Joseph Joestar was drafted next to become their main QB. Despite being a max earner, the performance he gave on the field was very below average. In 260 attempts, he has only completed 47% of passes which is the lowest among other QBs. Ne Mo was the 51st overall pick with 200 TPE at the end of the season. As the Tight end, he was very good at his position receiving 350 yards which the second highest among other TEs. On paper, the Buccos drafted players who performed well on defense which helped the team be a top 4 defensive squad but ultimately still placed last in their division possibly due to an underperforming rookie QB.
TIJUANA LUCHADORES
Pick 8 - Maverick Bowie - S - 225 TPE
Pick 16 - Adam Schell - LB - 209 TPE
Pick 24 - Crowbar Theeks - RB - 202 TPE
Pick 27 - Lee Out - DT - 133 TPE
Pick 35 - Icebox Riposte - OL - 154 TPE
Pick 40 - Petra Sabor - LB - 94 TPE
Pick 48 - Mike Boss Jr. - QB - 203 TPE
Pick 56 - Greg Young - TE - 50 TPE
The Luchadores drafted one of the best performing rookies in this draft. Skipping to their 3rd pick, they picked runningback Crowbar Theeks with the 24th overall pick. Theeks has been solo carrying the rushing job on his back. With over 300 attempts, he has amased 1592 rushing yards which is 300 more than the next person and 11 touchdowns. I'm pretty sure he has rushing over 100 yards every single game except Week 14. His rookie performance gave him two awards: Offensive ROTY, Offensive POTY; but somehow he didn't earn Runningback of the Year losing to Danny King. Despite Theek's amazing performance, the Luchadores rank last in yards rushed due to their more reliance on passing and receiving startegy. Back to their earlier picks, they picked Safety Maverick Bowie and Linebacker Adam Schell. In terms of points given up, the team ranks dead last. Bowie was above average in getting tackles with 79 but lacks any other stats. Schell was below average in stats compared to other linebackers despite his decent TPE earnings. Lee Out was drafted after Theeks as the DT with 133 TPE. He was relative average with 30ish tackles and 2 TFLs. Icebox Riposte was their OL pick and he was a middle of the pack linemen with 32 pancakes but with 3 sacks allowed. Going to their 48th overall pick, they drafted Mike Boss Jr. as their backup QB and he struggled in his rookie season. He only completed 45% of 161 attempts with 10 interceptions. This gave him a rating of 36.7. Hopefully he can improve in his next Luchadore season. The Luchadores in terms of getting high TPE earners drafted decently well, but underperforming rookies didn't help them get in the playoffs again after a very strong S22 season.
A season of DSFL has come to an end, now we can revisit the draft and see how the rookies performed in one season and how well did the teams draf
LONDON ROYALS
Pick 7 - Juan Domine - LB - 246 TPE

Lastly, the Royal's last notable pickup is Gunnar Thorbjornsson, another WR who is similar to Tre'Darius. Thorbjornsson leads all of the rookie WRs with yards gained at 587 and to a solid 13.3 yards per catch. All in all, the Royals made solid gains in their offense with two solid WRs as well as a QB (with bad luck) for next year improving their offense points to be second best in the league from fourth last season. The two linebackers are solid replacements for leaving players resulting in a small improvement in defensive team stats
