Prospect Bowl – Power Rankings Week 1 & 2
I’m going to do a power rankings and predictions following each of the simulations for the Prospect Bowl week. The first two games were very exciting and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the week unfolds. There are a couple teams who stumbled out of the gates and a couple who exceled. You never know how things will turn out though and these rankings could really change after weeks 3 & 4 tonight!
6) Brooklyn Atlantics (0-2)
This team Is having a rough start to the season. They had a double header against the Amarillo Tumbleweeds who have one of the best defenses so far to start this young season. The team was only able to muster up a measly 13 points in the first two games, which is worst in the league. Peterson at Quarterback especially had a rough start completing less than 50% of his passes with 3 interceptions for the worst rating in the league at 35.7. The defense has been solid held up by their Linebacking trio of Guy Fields, Richard Leaking and Jeff Haraldson who were tackling machines.
Next two games: Liverpool Llamas (1-1) and Tokyo Drifters (0-2), predict they go 0-2 to start off 0-4.
5) Tokyo Drifters (0-2)
Even though they started off 0-2 I think this team is better than Calgary but because of the head to head matchup I had to give Calgary the higher ranking. Tokyo played close games and if they had a couple things bounce their way they could easily be 2-0 to begin the season. They’re currently ranked third in offense tied with Liverpool and third in defense. I think the offense is going to explode in the next two games with the dynamic duo of Jackie Daytona and his stud WR Mark Walker. I see the two combining for over 100 yards and two touchdowns in the next two games.
Next two games: @Calgary Cavalry (1-1) and Brooklyn Atlantics (0-2), predict they go 2-0 and get back to .500.
4) Calgary Calvary (1-1)
As previously stated the only reason Calgary is at 4 is because of their narrow victory against Tokyo by a safety. The team didn’t show up in Week 2 against Tiburon. They got shellacked 26-3 giving up over 300 yards and were held scoreless through 3 ½ quarters when they got a lowly field goal in the fourth quarter. The team has only put up 15 points to start the season a number I don’t see going much higher in their next two games. Uncle Rico has been serviceable at QB and that’s the only bright spot on this team.
Next two games: Tokyo Drifters (0-2) and @Amarillo Tumbleweeds (2-0), predict they go 0-2 and fall under .500 at 1-3.
3) Liverpool Llamas (1-1)
Just barely beating out Calgary in the rankings. This team also ran into the brick wall of the Landsharks losing 27-6. The team is currently ranked last in points against giving up 46 points in their first two matchups. Quarterback play has been good as Trent Blackburn currently leads in passing yards with 350 over two games. I expect that number to only increase as the Llamas will probably be playing from behind again against Tiburon.
Next two games: @Brooklyn Atlantics (0-2) and @Tiburon Landsharks (2-0), predict they go 1-1 with a win against Brooklyn and a loss to Tiburon and stay at .500.
2) Amarillo Tumbleweeds (2-0)
Now we get to the easy part of the rankings. The Tumbleweeds rolled in and took care of business in their double header against Brooklyn. The held the Atlantics to 13 points in the two games which puts them at second in the league and scored 40 points which is also good for second in the league. This is a very well rounded team on both offense and defense. Bill Brasky and Zach Crossley are putting up great numbers. The front seven on the defense is no joke putting tons of pressure on the opposing quarterback amassing 6 sacks and 3 interceptions. The real challenge will be in their week 3 game against the team at the top of our rankings the Tiburon Landsharks.
Next two games: Tiburon Landsharks (2-0) and Calgary Calvary (1-1), predict they lost to Tiburon and beat Calgary going 1-1.
1) Tiburon Landsharks (2-0)
A team most people picked to dominate the Prospect Bowl they lived up to the hype. The Landsharks put up two blowout wins against Liverpool 27-6 and Calgary 26-3. The team is ranked #1 in points for and points against. Even though the defense is stellar I don’t think the team would have had much issue still winning with their superstar QB Owen Holloway. Holloway put up 248 yards passing with 2 touchdowns and added 2 more rushing touchdowns along with a mind boggling 316 yards. Holloway was their offense and looks to continue that trend in the next two games but might have a tough time with Amarillo’s defense. Regardless, this is the team to beat in the Prospect Bowl.
Next two games: @Amarillo Tumbleweeds (2-0) and Liverpool Llamas (1-1), predict they go 2-0 to be the only undefeated team at 4-0.
