So for this interview I did it a little different. Bubba Thumpers agent never actually put my calls through to Bubba so I just sent him a email with my questions and a few hours later I received a notification about my email and surprised it was Bubba responding back. So with all that said here is my Q&A with the big man himself, Bubba
Action:
1) How would you rate your career so far?
2)How did you feel when you won the championship finally? Is That your biggest accomplishment?
3) Youve been a huge part in Colorado. Was that originally where you wanted to go?
4) You and Ennis had a competition between yall for top DL. He's retired so id. Say he lost that competition. Hearing about his retirement, how did you feel? Who is the competition between now?
5)How long do you plan on competing and will Colorado win another chip?
6) obviously you cant being gm but from player perspective, have you thought about entering FA or is Colorado your home for good?
7) With all the accolades would you consider yourself a HOF player?
8) Was you excited when Owens signed with you guys?
9) It paid off with a championship in s22. Is he your biggest priority in the off season? Making sure he resigns.
Bubba:
1. I think I've shown that I'm a top talent at DL in this league, season after season.
2. Absolutely my greatest accomplishment. I have many accolades to my name, but this game is about wins, and that's the one win that matters most to me. And, to be honest, it just makes me hungry for more.
3. I can't say I had any particular preference. Austin would have been close to home, and obviously that would have been cool, but at the end of the day I'm proud to be a Yeti.
4. Ennis and I were tight through our DSFL days, sort of fell out of touch until shortly before his retirement. If he's happy with his retirement, I'm happy for him. We can't all take the same path. As for who my top competition is now...I think anybody can be one of the first names you think of any given season. We haven't had a repeat DLotY or DTotY since I entered the league.
5. I'm going to play until the wheels fall off. I want to be remembered alongside the likes of Dan Miller and Thor Skarsgard as one of the best to ever play this position, and that means I have a long way to go and a lot to prove. And hopefully, that means several more titles are in store for me.
6. Well, I tested the market early in my career, but ultimately I got cold feet. I guess I just feel at home here in Colorado, and the fact that I've been so fortunate to play now 7 seasons here is a dream come true.
7. I don't think that's my decision to make. At the end of the day all I can do is put my resume on the table and hope it's enough, and that's exactly what I go and try to do every day.
8. Oh absolutely thrilled. I played with Owens in San Antonio, and he's one of the best teammates in the game. I don't know that there's anybody I've been more excited to play with my entire career.
9. Obviously we feel Owens is an important part of our offense, but there's going to be a ton that depends on expansion. We know it's coming, but we don't know when.
I really appreciate him responding back as quick as he did. Hopefully next time I can fly to Colorado and have a face to face.
