Well, I am back and a lot of stuff has happened between me speaking to you all. I was drafted, I made a few mistakes, and I have made some major decisions for my future, so, let's begin shall we.
I was drafted!
I got brought to my eventual home, Portland, and I must say that was probably one of the biggest swerves of all time for me. During the draft process I would say I had four or five teams in mind, two of which I didn't want to go to for sure and two or three that I wanted to go to and I thought I was on their radar. Well surprise, C, none of the above were chosen! So who was I chosen by? The team that sent me some random interview questions that I answered, that by no means is slight on Portland it just, wasn't expected based on any of the interactions I had before the draft. But I guess that is what makes the draft so amazing, you don't know whats going to happen. I love being in Portland, the guys here are amazing and the locker room is nice and it is nice to talk to people about improving. I have in particular taken advantage of a few sub chats in the locker room and...it's just a fun time here in Portland, can't believe this was a 5-9 team last year. To the teams I expected to draft me but didn't, no hard feelings, in both cases I feel like you guys got better earners and people who probably fit in your locker room better. To the teams I didn't want to draft me.....umm...thank you, keep on keeping on.
I made a lot of mistakes....like....a lot.
If you are new to this website there is...a lot of stuff to do to earn TPE in the beginning, and I mean a lot. I could see why someone who isn't used to a simulation at all could find everything a rookie can do to earn before being drafted daunting and tedious and overwhelming. One thing I didn't expect that to be for me was managing an update page, hell I was a damn updater in a previous sim website. So what all happened to me? Well the carry over wasn't very kind to me lets just say that. So when I do my updates I actually type the coding out itself so. url here] title here I did that, by hand, on my phone for all my update and links on the old website. Well, when it carried over i'm not sure if these links were changed or broken or what but places where my work was done now went to random player pages, if they went to a place at all some of them just said its a broken link buddy. So because of this...misfortune, lets call it, I wasn't able to use a good chunk of my TPE for the first week of the regular season of the DSFL. Annoying? Yes, but mistakes will happen in the transfer over and since I didn't find them I didn't deserve to have that TPE. So then I had to find all the now correct URLs of my claims and repost my old TPE to get them, I also did all of this on my phone. To eventually find out that if you link it that way, on your phone it doesn't link to your post just the page your post is on. So morale of the story is, new members of the ISFL when you go to claim the points you earn, use a computer. Don't be like me and use your phone for it all, it simply does not have the capability. I hope I saved some new member from going through...that and feel free to laugh at me over this I probably more then deserve it.
I know what my plan is in the ISFL
I'm not sure how common this is, I have had conversations with people and I guess this is more common then I am used to it being. But I have every intention of taking the strategy of the great LeBron James, except a lot sooner, and want a vast majority if not my entire career on a 1+1 kind of contract, I do not care how that affects my draft stock. I was the last pick in the like the 6th or 7th round and I am well okay with that or if that is lower. Last time I checked I was in the top 3-5 earners at DT in my class, I have no intention of this changing anytime soon. So I know my talent in there and I am the type of person who has enough faith in my talent to do something like that. So at best this will get scouts and GMs to ask me one less question on that wall of text questionnaire that I oh so much love. Something you'll learn about me very quickly is I have the personality of Jon Snow at times.....from the show not the books.
I had one of the worst preseason and start of the regular season ever.
Okay! So the main culprit of this one is the issue listed a headline or two above but man did my preseason suck! I probably performed one of the worst of the entire draft class. No that's not hyperbole, I looked, I know. Now granted I didn't have the TPE to compete with the people I was competing with but hot damn I laid a goose egg my short history in this league and it really doesn't feel good. I have learned a lot about how builds work and the sim seems to work in my short time and boy did I mess up this build badly. But the good news is eventually I will be there with everyone and I know what I want to do for my next build but that doesn't help me this build, haha. So basically my tips for anyone new to this league and is reading this, look at everything I did. And I mean everything, minus earning a lot of TPE, okay look at that. Look at what I did good, study it, know it intimately, okay, you have it? Now I want you to take everything I did, and do the exact opposite and congratulations. You will be a lot more successful then I have been so far, you're welcome.
Hey its ready to be graded because i'm perfect, of course.
