That said I have to ask why was one person hired to HO effectively immediately but the other two put through the intern system? Why weren't all three interns? Why wasn't the hire to full HO made at the end of the season when Infinite had officially stepped down? Why wasn't procedure followed on that particular hire? Nothing against SD, I know he has experience in other leagues and he's a great guy. I'm just curious about the process.
From time to time we make direct hires when is appropriate. (Infinite himself was a direct hire, if I recall correctly.) Direct Hires tend to have a high level of experience or relevant knowledge that is needed at the time of hire. SD is highly qualified, and we are keenly aware of the need for a non-even number of Head Office members at this time. SD has been offered the spot to help meet our league needs for the rest of the season, and we will work with him at season's end to determine if will continue with us past that.

Thanks for clarifying! Now that I think about it I believe something similar was done with AdamS not too long ago? I will say it'll always be odd bringing in HO half way through the season, but I understand needing the odd number for tie breakers. Appreciate it!

TIL apparently we should be holding public interviews and only listening to mob rule.
So here's my take about it, because I will straight up say I agreed with Thor about this - but then HO explained why the immediate push to put someone as HO mid-season, bypassing the intern process.
I think user frustration in this area stems from, "Wow, a decision was made and we have no idea why suddenly it seems like the protocol which is in place was broken." 100% that is a valid reason to have frustration. I also understand that HO can't necessarily share everything they discuss, but a quick, "Hey, we hired x as HO immediately so we could continue to have an odd numbered HO for voting purposes, we picked x because of abc123." goes a long way. As a user who isn't a part of any other league, it looked like "Wow, a user who doesn't have a job in this league is just instantly promoted to HO?" and it left a bad taste in my mouth - learning from other people that he has experience in other leagues helps to eliminate that, but it could have been eliminated instantly with that quick 'Here's what we loved about him and why we hired him instantly.'
HO has been on the defensive about their hires (more-so in the expansion GM process), but if they had been more up front about reasons for hire and how the process normally works/why it was different this time, it could have eliminated some of that for other users. Things feel very reactive over proactive at times in the league.

As someone who was in HO for over a year in real time, being proactive to every possible scenario created by all 300+ of our active users is not only impossible, but in the past HO was heavily criticized for attempting to do so. They were told they were "over-reaching" and "addressing problems that don't even exist." If, for instance, they had stated your justification of hiring quickly to get to an odd number for voting, I assure you there would have been users admonishing them for using that justification to hire someone quickly. At the end of the day, you have to do what you think is best for the community as a whole because there will always be someone upset with how any situation was handled.
