I thought it would be fun to do a quick write up on the TPE of the active players on each DSFL team and see if there is any relation between it and the records of the teams.
Team One, Tijuana Luchadores. Gotta start with my team after all. Clearly the best team on and off the field. Great Locker room and great bunch of guys.
Total TPE : 2,066 from the season 25 "active" players. From a total of twelve players for an average of 172.16 TPE per player. A high of 238 from tex and a low of 115 from owen issac. So from the draft they ended up with twelve active players, I don't know if that is a lot or not, but it seems like a solid draft and could be a reason why the Luchadores are currently sitting in first place. They have three players above two hundred TPE already with another four who could get their by next update. Only four players drafted did not go past their initial fifty TPE starting point, and of the remaining four "inactive" players they ranged between 57 TPE and 62 TPE. So overall not a lot of players who ended up being busts and most of those were taken in the later rounds anyways, where you aren't really expecting a lot from some of these guys.
Team Two, Going up the list(not in any order) Minnesota Grey Ducks. Currently in last place in their division and tied for the worst record in the league at two wins and five losses. Not great, so here is the breakdown of season twenty five draftees.
Total TPE : 1,855 from the season twenty five active players. A decent bit lower than the Luchadores. They have eleven players contributing to their total which averages out to 168.64 TPE per player. Again lower than the Luchadores, but not by much honestly. Their highest is at 211 Mike Rotchburns, their lowest active is Matt Peterson with 122. They only have the one player above 200, but they have three literally knocking on the door at 199, 198, and 197 and another one who is going to be close after this next update. So they did a decent job of drafting and one of their inactives appears to be only inactive for about a week, so it is possible he comes back and contributes. I do not know.
Team Three, Norfolk Seawolves. Currently sitting on a record of five wins and two losses, tied for the best record, but lossing the tiebreaker to the Luchadores, they are in second overall and in their division. A quality team, but I do not think their draft was all that good. I also think the numbers will prove my point rather well.
Total TPE : 1,570 from their season twenty five "active" players. Now I quoted active players because three of the guys are technically active according the logins, but their TPE is very low, so hard to say. A total of ten active players making their average of 157 per player, by far the lowest so far. They have seven solid actives and three "actives" and seven complete inactives. Not the best draft so far, but there are more teams to check out, so it's possible they are not as low as I think they will end up being. They have two players over 200 TPE and four close and a fifth not far behind them. So the actives they got are actually all very good, just quite a few whiffs.
Team Four, Portland Pythons. Currently sitting at three wins and four losses but somehow at the top of their division, but also the same record as two other teams in that division. I do believe they have a future going forwards, but sometimes your record is not related to your talent.
Total TPE : 2,363 from season twenty five draftees. Holy moley they got a good core of active top level earners going on. Actually a little jealous of the start these guys got, but this game is about long term earning, so it remains to be seen. Highest single earner of 220 is McBobby and the lowest of 109, with thirteen total active players for an average of 181.77. So far the highest by a good margin, definitely looks like this team could be a really good team next season, depending on call ups, which could decimate a few teams after the expansion draft. They have four players already over 200 TPE, with another six who can reach it potentially by next update. Hopefully they get called up next season so the Luchadores can remain at the top. With eleven inactives, apparently they had a ton of players drafted so it makes sense they would end up with that many quality players, the more you draft the more that will remain active and be helpful.
Team Five, Kansas City Coyotes. With a record of three wins and four losses they are sitting in second place in their division due to the tie breaker rules. Not a bad team, but seems to be missing good players at a few key spots and suffer because of it. They did not appear to have a great draft after looking back at it after seven games.
Total TPE : 1,276 from their actives of the season twenty five draft. The lowest by a good margin so far. They appear to have a lot of inactive players. They have eight actives from the draft, again the lowest by a good bit so far, with an average of 159.5, a little bit higher than the Seawolves, so at least their actives are mostly doing a decent job. Just need more of them. Their highest TPE is 199 from Patterson and their lowest is 97 from Quigley. Not looking good for next season, but you never know, maybe they can manage a better draft next time around. I think they might be on the down swing and enter a full on rebuild over the next couple of seasons, but all it takes is one really good draft.
Team Six, London Royals. Another team with three wins and four losses in the NFC north division, this one in third place due to tie breakers. I'm really not sure how to feel about this team. They aren't a bad team, but they also do not seem to be of the same caliber as the other teams with better or even the same record. Time will tell.
Total TPE : 1,888 from their actives. This is the first team who has mostly keep all of their players active. I think I only counted two who could be considered inactive, but because of the amount of TPE they have both earned I assume they went on vacation or just got really busy with work or their kids or maybe they visited jail for a week or two. Who knows. Top TPE of 201 from Crunk and a low of 93 from Leclerc, but they have seven guys over 150 TPE for a solid group and an average of 157.3 with a total of twelve actives. Not the greatest average, but a decent number of actives, remains to be seen if the lower TPE guys and the two semi inactives can step it up and make this an ever better class.
Team Seven, Dallas Birddogs. The worst record in the DSFL and the worst points scored. Not exactly great stuff from them. But they do have a decent looking draft class with a couple of young up and comers. Hard to say for sure which way they are going, but with where they sit right now, gotta assume only way is up.
Total TPE : 1,598 from their actives. Not great, third lowest so far with only one team after them to be reviewed. They have some good guys at the top of this class, but also some complete inactives. Their top guy is Crowder with 204 TPE and their lowest active is Milk Mann with 142, and that is including a potential inactive above that. Not a bad average with nine actives for a 177.6 per active player TPE. Second highest average so far, so of the players actually contributing to the team, they have a good group. But how many will get to stay around next season to try and turn around this last place team?
Team Eight, Myrtle Beach Buccaneers. One of three teams with a five win and two lose record going into tonights games. They are the low man of the group due to tie breaking rules. A solid team with some really good rookies. They have a good group, but they will most likely lose some of the key rookies to call ups after the draft.
Total TPE : 2,060 out of their actives. That puts them in third by six TPE. Definitely a good group of guys with the top earner being Goat Tank with a staggering 236 TPE and their lowest active being Jackson with 118. They have eleven active earners putting their average per guy at 187.3, which takes the number one spot per player. Very impressive, but the top few guys really help bring it up, with the top three combining for 674 of their TPE. They had eight inactives out a group of nineteen, which honestly seems about right for most teams.
If I had to try and make these numbers mean something, I would say it seems the teams with the best records do seem to have more active good earners than the teams with worse records. But in some cases it really wont matter the expansion coming after this season, it appears a lot of teams are going to lose out on some of their best rookies from this class. I will say after doing more and more research into this class, it seems to be a very deep class and I feel bad for the GMs having to pick who to draft and where to draft them.
Good Luck all season 25 rookies.
