Ryan Negs was born out of Jersey playing at his local public school, Mendham, when a UGA scout visiting a local private school stopped by for a game. Negs went to a small public school that didn't get much publicity but the kid had the talent and a work ethic coaches raved about. Mostly unheard of during his first three years, Negs put in countless summer hours working on his accuracy and in the wait room every morning working on his arm strength. By the beginning of his senior year, Ryan was ready to take the next step. In his first 5 games, he threw for 1400 yards with 20 TDs and 9 INTs as he often got in trouble over trusting his arm strength he built up.
On his senior night, Georgia's QB coach was scouting the local private school talent but stopped by the public school 5 minutes down the road to Mendham before the game. He saw Ryan Negs in warmups and was impressed by the kid. He saw the arm strength but was intrigued about his gameplay. Negs came out firing, starting out 5/5 for 80 yards and a 45 yard TD pass to start. Negs kept driving all game, ending up with 550 yards for 7 TDs and 2 INTs in a 52-32 win over their rival. After the the game, the scout talked to him and was impressed, wanting to keep in touch. They kept in touch throughout the playoffs that Mendham ended up winning on the back of Negs.
Ryan Negs ended up getting countless offers from FCS schools and low division one schools to be the starter. However, the UGA scout came through with a preferred walk on spot as a QB for Negs. Knowing he would have to work for it, Ryan gladly accepted the opportunity and headed into camp as the 3rd string starter.
By his senior year, Negs had sat on the bench for 3 years as the backup to star QB Jake Frommstatefarm who was the private school QB the scout had initially gone to see the night he met Negs. Ryan worked all summer and eventually earned the job in camp due to an impeccable summer. Frommstatefarm had slacked off thinking he had the job under wraps. However, Negs grinded all summer and came out as the starter.
During the season, Ryan Negs threw for 3200 yards over his 10 games with 29 touchdowns. However, he matched that with 17 interceptions as he loved the deep throw. Negs applied for the draft after his senior year and is now excited to work his way up the ladder to earn his spot in the ISFL. He knows he must put in the work and time in the DSFL but he is ready and willing to do whatever it takes to make it to the top.
