This week ended my first season in the DSFL. And man did our team end with a bang. We throttled the Minnesota Grey Ducks 54-10 and it was just a stellar performance for me and the team. While I normally make these articles about me (hey I did score 3 TDs in this game) I instead wanted to highlight some of my fellow MB rookies and give any ISFL GM out there another reason to draft these guys. So without further ado:
Goat Tank - Do I really need to say more than his name? Of course not but I will anyway. This is a bad dude (or goat or land vehicle). He has absolutely feasted on offensive lineman all season, chewing up the league for 7 sacks from the defensive tackle position. Not only that but he forced 3 fumbles and recovered another 3. This man should be a slam dunk early in the first round pick for any GM that knows what he is doing.
Owen Holloway - So this guy is an odd case. He started at QB but then became a WR overnight and wow what a transition it was. He instantly became our number 1 threat and has balled out to end the season. The fact he has the mind of a quarterback at the receiver position should entice a lot of prospective teams. I know he can be a bit demanding (see his article) but the dude has talent and is going to make your team win more games at the ISFL level.
Djibutee McJimmerson - This dude is a real one. Easily the best blocking TE in the class. I mean seriously 23 pancakes on the season for a TE!!??? He also did not let up a sack on the year. The thing is he won't just be a blocking TE for you either. He has real skill in the passing game and just needs it to develop a little more and be presented the opportunity to contribute. Look for this dude to take a major step forward next year.
Teddy Utterstruzen - Teddy is the man in the locker room. Always hyping up teammates and getting us excited to play. The thing is though he's not just a team or glue guy; he was a key piece of a defense that balled out all year. Teddy had multiple interceptions and was a disruptive force in the secondary. Dude even picked up a safety during the season. Teddy should be higher on most people's draft boards.
Hank Winchester - Man Hank is an animal. He was second on our team in tackles with 11 during the season. Dude loves contact, I swear I think it turns him on (I actually know this as he told me). He brings so much physicality to our team and is a real leader out there on the field. I know scouts love Hank and there is good reason for it. I expect to hear his name called early on draft night, better be by the end of the first round.
Medicinal Toblerone - I am legit scared of this dude. He is just a hulking figure of a man at 6'7". He eats chumps on the defensive line for breakfast and the battles between him and GOAT Tank in practice were legendary. Hey ISFL GMs, ff you want to protect your franchise QB pick Medicinal Toblerone as soon as possible.
Alex Reed - My wide receiver compatriot. Reed is a beast on the outside. He picked up over 500 yards receiving for us this season in a run first offense. I have learned so much from watching him work. The other plus is not a complaint out of this dude all season about not getting the ball as much as he deserves. Really stand up guy that I had the privilege of working with. Looking forward to seeing what you do at the next level.
James Hoffman - Man I have a love/hate relationship with this guy. I love having him on my team but I hate going against him in practice. Dude is a lock down corner who feels like he is constantly in your back pocket. He also is a film junkie who knows every last tendency of his opponent. I don't look forward to going against him on game day in the future.
Jackie Daytona - Last but certainly not least is my QB Jackie Daytona. Daytona is the best QB I have ever worked with. His ball placement and anticipation are off the charts. He put together all that work in practice in our final game of the season and looked amazing out there doing it. This guy has future DSFL MVP written all over him and I also think he is a franchise QB in the making for some lucky ISFL team out there. Take Daytona and know you are in good hands.
Finally, I want to give a shout out to the guys who put me on a team with all these amazing rookies, my GMs. They took a group of rookies and made us into serious contenders for a playoff spot. I am not shy in saying I think they drafted the best class in this year's draft and developed us better than any other team out there. Seriously just look at our gains. I know we did not make the playoffs but it would be an absolute travesty if these dudes did not win GM of the year.
Now time for me to go focus on my work in prepping for the draft.
Much Luv,
Zach
