And another season is over and another update to our New Orleans Second Line top 10 lists.
Starting out, we look at new entries for the games section:
Passing percentage: Ben Slothisberger had a game where he had a 76.67% and that is good for the 9th best game in that category.
Receiving yards: Ed Barker had a huge season and entered himself twice on this list, the first player since Season 16 to do so. His 143 receiving yards are good for 8th, his 148 yards are good for 5th.
Tackles: Quenton Bode shows once more he is the tackle king. He gets 16 tackles for the third time in his career and is the 4th one in NOLA history to do so (Mills had the one other 16 tackle game)
Pancakes: G. Rubbe once more adds a 9 pancake game, fills in the 10th spot that way.
Punt yards: Louis had a big punt game and got 527 punt yards in that game, good for 6th in that category.
Kick return yards: Both Blaylock and Rector, our two kick returners, managed to get on this list. Rector is in 7th with 193 yards and Blaylock had a 205 yard game and that is good for 4th in that category.
Seasons:
This is an even more fun category, as the seasonal ones are often good to look at.
Passing yards: Slothlisberger comes in at 3956 yards and 8th all time, the best non Borkus Maximus III season, so close to 4000 yards too!
Passing touchdowns: Slothslisberger had 26 touchdowns, good for 6th, and again the best non Borkus season in NOLA history.
Receiving catches: Ed Barker had an absolutely astonishing season and had 90 catches, 2nd best in this category only behind Paul DiMirio.
Receiving yards: Barker comes in in 6th place in this category with 1397 receiving yards. Once more a long gap in these categories, the last new season came in S15 in both of these categories.
Receiving touchdowns: And another Barker entry at the top. Barker ties the record with 12 touchdowns and is in 2nd place behind Charlie Law.
Tackles: The tackle king almost did it again. Bode's 153 tackles is second all time behind... you guessed it, Quenton Bode's 154 tackles from two seasons ago.
Tackles for loss: My own player, Medicinal Toblerone comes in at 8th all time with 16 tackles for loss.
Forced fumbles: Blaylock had three and comes in at 10th all time
Fumbles recovered: Blaylock had three here too, good for 3rd all time.
Passes defended: Witten had 21 and that's 8th and then Rector had 24 and comes in at 5th all time.
Extra points percentage: Louis had a limited season but he did well in his time, with a perfect rating, the 6th person to do so
Field goals percentage: Thomason did not do as well with his 93.75% but that's still good for 8th, but then was replaced by Louis who had a perfect season, the 2nd such season ever, even in limited time.
Punt average: Limited time may have helped him but Louis did well, breaking the record with 47 yards per punt.
Kick returns: Blaylock had 42 and Rector had 46, good for 8th and 2nd.
Kick return yards: This was the category that stood out to me. We actually had a season with our two guys ending up in 2nd and 1st place. Both had an amazing season. Rector had 1330 yards and Blaylock had 1361 yards.
Kick return average: Rector had an average good for 9th and Blaylock broke the record here too with 32.40 yards per kick return!
Kick return touchdown: Both had a touchdown but there was only one spot left, and Rector did it earlier so he comes in 10th.
Punt returns: Rector had 34 punt returns, good for 4th
Punt return yards: Rector had 269 and that is good for 10th all time.
Pancakes: Rubbe adds anotherr season at the top, 2nd with 84 pancakes. He now has the six best seasons in this category.
Sacks allowed: Rubbe adds his 6th season with 0 sacks allowed and 9th overall for NOLA
NOLA did not make the playoffs this year so the stats here did not change, so we can go straight to the most important category: Career!
Passing yards: Slothslisberger adds his 2nd season and therefore skips Bercovici and Noble and is now 3rd in this category behind the two long-time NOLA QBs Maximus and Francisco.
Passing touchdowns: Same as in the other category, but here he only gains one spot to now be in third.
Passing interceptions: A not so good year for Ints for Slothslisberger makes him gain two spots, but still behind Bercovici by quite a bit.
Passing rating: Slothslisberger actually lost a spot here, losing out against Stan Francisco and now in third place here too.
Rushing yards: Gump continues his lead and reaches the 10k plateau. Toriki gains a spot and jumps legend Ardie Savea.
Rushing touchdowns: Gump inches closer to the leader Smallwood, now 8 behind the record, will he be able to get there? Toriki jumps Savea here too and is now in third.
Receiving catches: McCormick stays in third but gets closer to the top two. Forrest Gump jumps three spots up past Law, Evans and Jones.
Receiving yards: McCormick gains a spot and goes into 6th, Barker gains two spots and goes into 8th, while Gump loses a spot and falls to 10th.
Receiving average (min 200 catches): Barker joins the 200 catch clubs and enters new at 5th overall, with McCormick losing a spot and going to 9th.
Receiving touchdowns: McCormick gains a spot and goes into 6th, Barker gains a spot and goes into 9th as he jumps Gump who goes to 10th.
Tackles: Bode bumps his lead higher up. Rector and Blaylock both gain a spot, now 8th and 9th.
Tackles for loss: Bode enters anew in 10th with 20 after a long career.
Forced fumbles: Bode still in first, Blaylock gains three spots and is now 4th. Rector enters new at 10th.
Fumbles recovered: Bode still in first, Blaylock gains four spots and is now 3rd here.
Sacks: Blaylock enters new at 7th with 39 sacks now.
Interceptions: Rector stays in 4th while Blaylock gains two spots to be in 5th right behind him. Witten enters the list in 10th place.
Passes defended: Rector joins the 100 PD club and is at 115, now 27 behind the leader in Taylor. Stays in 2nd place.
Defensive touchdowns: Witten has two and joins the list in 9th place.
Extra points made: Thomason made 20 extra points and is new in 10th
Extra points percentage: Louis hit all his kicks and is the third guy to do it for now.
Field goals made: both Thomason and Louis enter at 15 in 9th and 10th
Field goals percentage: Louis in 1st for now with 100% and Thomason in 3rd with 93.75%
Punts made: Louis in 10th with 49 punts made
Punt yards: Louis in 10th with 2303 punt yards
Punt average: Louis had a great start to his career and enters the list in 1st with 47 yards per punt.
Punts inside 20: Louis enters in 10th with 7 of them
Kick returns: Blaylock stays in 4th but gets closer to Evans. Rector comes in at 9th.
Kick return yards: Blaylock gains a spot over Evans, Rector enters new in 6th with 2283.
Kick return average: Blaylock is now first after he jumps Danielsson with 29.44. Rector stays in third.
Kick return touchdowns: Blaylock now in 3rd with 2 jumping five spots. Rector enters new in 9th.
Punt returns: Rector gains three spots and is now fourth.
Punt return yards: Rector gains one spot and is now 5th
Punt return average: Rector loses two spots and is now 4th place.
