In a moment of solemn reflection upon his past 2 season with the Bondi Beach Buccaneers (formerly of Myrtle Beach), Tight End Djibutee McJimmerson remembers the amazing memories and moments with his teamates and GMs. From the logistical failure of not appearing at the prospect bowl, to the DSFL draft, to the eventual winning of Tight End of the Year... McJimmerson can’t help but force a wry smile at all the fun he’s had. So, on the cusp of this Thanksgiving season, we asked him for what he’s truly thankful for and what we can expect from him in the ISFL.
“Well, I would say that I am most thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of the BB Locker-room. Every day in there was something new and fun, even if it wasn’t always after a win. I’m thankful for the friendships I’ve made. Even though many of us are going to different ISFL teams in the next season or 2, we will always be Buccaneers.
Recently, I’m shocked and thankful to have been selected as the Tight End of the Year for the DSFL’s 25th season. I didn’t expect to get it after watching a couple of the other nominees close out the year well. But sometimes, hard work is rewarded with a little fortune it seems.
I need to give a shoutout to the GM’s and Alumni at BB. They drafted me and started my career. Thor is awesome. I wouldn’t have become the player I am today without his guidance. The other GM is ok too I guess. The alumni are all great and it’s amazing to see them stay so active at their roots. So thanks everyone, even Frost.
I’m excited to have been drafted by the Wraiths. I think I’m lucky to have landed there with both the management and personal that is there and has been recently acquired. It’s a great fit, and Yellowknife is as good as anywhere when you have friends to keep you warm. Also there’s Tim Horton’s aboot the center of town which is cool.
I’m thankful to have watched our Sterling Archer lookalike Leo Bloomfield kick the ever-living shit out of the ball week in and week out. I’m pretty sure he holds most of the franchise records, and has tied or beaten many of the league ones. Give the man Punter of the Year you cowards.
I’m thankful to have had the back and forth with our enigma of a Safety, Teddy Utterstruzen. Our conversations in the locker room have been a constant source of amusement. It doesn’t hurt that he is a beast on the field and kept us in the game often with his play.”
We asked him if he could rank his top 5 moments for us and he responded with:
“1 - S24 DSFL Draft. That was the start of my pro career, it doesn’t get better than that. Even if I fell down the boards a little bit, it ended up well.
2 – S25 ISFL Draft. To go at the top of the 2nd round was an honor and a surprise given my DSFL stock. Plus I went to the team I wanted to all along.
3 – S25 Week 14 vs TIJ – Daytona goes off for 5 TDs and we wipe the floor with rival TIJ in the final game of the season. Of course this was bittersweet given the playoff results, but that week was sublime.
4 – S25 TEoTY Award – Getting an award was dope.
5 – S24 Preseason Theft of Thor’s credit card. Myself and the other rookies spent $15,000 off of the GM’s card at the local high end seafood buffet. No ragrets.”
Are you going to miss your QB, Jackie Daytona?
“Definitely. I’m thankful to have played with the best damn QB to grace the DSFL, Jackie Daytona. The man is a Greek god in the pocket while still being one of the slickest runners I’ve ever seen. He is definitely not a vampire, by the way. I couldn’t have done much without him and will continue to follow his career until we meet again.
Speaking of meeting again, I guess now is as good of a time as any to let everyone know that I will be taking my talents to Cornerback for the future of my career. After winning the TEotY award this year, my dream of having an offensive award was complete. I think that my unique athleticism and abilities will let me come into the ISFL hot at the CB position. So I guess now I’m thankful more than ever to get to play with the Wraith D-Line and LBs in front of me in my rookie season coming up.
I’m looking forward to helping take my team to new heights and hopefully many Ultimus’s. I think with the talent around me, I’ve got a good chance to do some great stuff. I’m hungry for that DRotY award, and I’m coming for it. But first, let’s go eat some turkey and watch some football.”
