The ISFL and DSFL have gone through many brand changes.
From full changes like the Solar Bears to Buccaneers and Marshals to Grey Ducks and Blues to the trash. As well as small changes such as Austin redoing their logo and color scheme and the Portland/Dallas wheel of logos that they use each season.
The league has seen many great brands evolve for the better and for the worse but one that has not changed is the baseball bat boat of the Norfolk Defenders.... I mean the Seawolves.
Norfolk has been using a defunct minor league baseball logo since their inception and even though they took the knob off the bat you can still tell that its a bat.
The Palm Beach Solar Bears were forced to change their brand (which was a much cooler brand than the Seawolves) because their name and logo were the same as a minor league hockey team. Maybe Palm Beach got the boot and Norfolk didn't because they changed the name from Defenders to Seawolves but the concept stays the same.
So why after all these years and all these rebrands throughout the league has the batwolves stayed so stagnant. Even if you weren't a baseball bat dont you think a touch up of the logo is needed? The dated blue and heavy blacks could use a splash of color or atleast a new shine to it. So many GMs would love to rebrand or even revamp a team and even through all their years and different GMs no one has made the change.
So I have a concept which I admit is shitty and much more talented people in this league could make a nicer logo. Especially considering the very nice detailed logos we have created in the past few seasons. My concept is just here to spark the conversation of updating a team that doesn't quiet feel like it belongs to the league. It feels like a logo stuck in the past before the league received the graphic talents we have today.
So here is the new Norfolk logo concept. I kept the colors with some slight tweaks as to keep it from being so dark and dull.
Please Norfolk leadership/HO save the seawolves brand and create a new logo that has the same passion as the rest of the league and remove yourself from the obsession of a defunct baseball team.
