Well the DSFL draft is in the books and it’s time to look at how the Norfolk Seawolves did! Why Norfolk? Because that’s where I was drafted for my first team ever and I’m excited to be a part of something fresh like this so let’s dig in!
Pick #1
SparkySparky Boom-Man – Safety
Player Archetype: Run Support
Don’t let the funny name fool you! Boom-Man is a top tier safety out this draft and he’s a veteran user so taking him at #1 overall wasn’t a stretch. I like to see guys come back since it shows me there’s always fun to be had no matter what create you are on! Boom-Man is a top safety in this class and he helps fill one of the massive gaps on defense that the Seawolves have. I like this pick a lot even though there were other higher TPE defensive players. The scouts must have seen something they liked best in Boom-Man to justify the top pick.
#17
Candice D. Fitinyomouf – Defensive Tackle
Candice is a big boy who can break through any tackle and the Seawolves were in desperate need of a formidable line to join Chap Simpson and Dimitrius Rogers from last season. Fitinyomouf is going to fit right into the defensive line and has a ton of speed for a big man of his size. The user looks active so this is a great pick after Fergus Callaghan Jr. was taken at #15.
#25
Joseph Radetkzy – Wide Receiver
This speed receiver was taken at #25 and looks like a veteran user so I’m surprised they fell so far in the draft. With a lot of the top earning receivers already taken at this point, Norfolk still needed another offensive weapon on the field and this pick might prove to be more fruitful if Radetkzy can become a top earner. The potential is there so a good pick for a team that’s looking for high potential at a low risk pick.
#33
Ace Savage – Running Back
I’m surprised to have been taken this early on the draft to be honest. I didn’t think I had done enough to get other team’s attention and with other good running backs I wasn’t sure where I’d fall. The Seawolves already have a returning veteran in Mr. Forty-Two and having Savage will help the backfield massively if he can split some carries with the boss man. I am surprised to have been drafted here but glad to be able to help out on the offensive side of the ball.
#41
Vilhjalmur Kueblerson – Tight End
This Icelandic tight end is a great all around player and will help fit into the Norfolk offense in a number of ways. Tom Teboat appears to be returning to the team but with 2 tight ends the offense can run some interesting schemes to help with blocking and maybe some 2 tight end sets as well. I don’t know if that’s possible in the sim but it should be! Anyways, Kueblerson looks kind of active so far and this is a good pick towards the end of the draft.
#49
Rotor Wash – Kicker/Punter
The big Wisconsin kicker is a balanced archetype but is much more accurate than he’s got power. This will come in handy for shorter field goals and the user seems fairly active. Fortunately, Norfolk can replace a bot now so there’s only upside for this pick and it’ll help big time has Norfolk was dead last in field goals made last season. Good pick to shore up a major part of the scoring offense.
#57
Marcus McMarcus – Quarterback
The pickings get slim towards the end of the draft and it looks like McMarcus was drafted to backup starter, Emi Rune. The pocket passer looks like they are inactive so I don’t expect this pick to amount to much.
And that’s my review! Hopefully the new faces can make a big impact on the team and improve the 2-12 record! Let’s go Norfolk!
