It’s finally that time again! When freshly drafted DSFL rookies partake in their very first sim experience. Some have done their own research and looked up the sims from prior seasons, some come from other sim leagues, and some (like myself when I was a rookie) have never even seen a sim game and have no idea what to expect. So let’s get into it:
Game 1:
Yeah actually the sim didn’t work, there were no dots, and the live video didn’t make much sense at all. I know, I know. For many DSFL rookies this was both frustrating and disappointing after all the hype and high energy of entering the league and waiting to be drafted. By before people start taking up their pitchforks and torches, let’s remember what the preseason is for.
The preseason games (just like their real life versions) are games in which the player stats don’t matter, the scores don’t matter, and GMs are typically running strategies that are not similar to what they’ll be using during the regular season. What these games are really for, are for teams and the league alike to go through the motions of a game day experience and make sure everything goes smoothly. This time it obviously did not.
Think of it as starting up that lawn mower for the first time in spring after sitting in the shed all winter. It’s a good machine and usually starts first try. Just because our mower didn’t start first try this season, doesn’t mean it’s time to throw it away. It just means our machine needs a little TLC before it roars back to life and is ready to churn again. Love this league and the people who work hard behind the scenes to make it happen. We’ll get that lawn mowed before that bitty from HOA comes and tries to fine our asses.
