2) Tell us about your draft class. Is there anything that makes it special in comparison to other classes? Where did your fellow draftees land, how are they doing? Did anyone turn out to be an unexpected steal of that draft based on what you know today? Do you think anyone in your draft class will become a hall of famer? If you’re new to the league, how do you think your class will do? Where do you think people will get drafted to?
It's always hard to predict where people will b e drafted in a sim league if you're not in the inner circle so to speak. Because it's not just about total TPE. It's also about how a certain player fits into a team's locker room ad what connection they have with the GMs of each franchise. So far through most of the mock drafts I've seen Eleven Kendrick-Watts is predicted to go first overall which I find interesting because historically in ISFL drafts, Offensive players haven't gone that early and Watts is Wide Receiver. That's why I think HeHateMe Picksix ll might have a chance to go first. He might a bit off of questionable pick at first but if yo go by the history of the league, it's almost certain a defensive player will be taken with the number one overall pick.
Xander Creed is project to go second in the arly mock drafts that I’m looking at but I don’t know about that. Again, This has nothing do with Creed or the user behind him, It’s just that as a Running Back, I don’t know how willing teams would be to invest a position player that that early in the draft. Especially if people are correct and Watts goes first. I find it almost impossible that two offensive players would be taken back to back. That just doesn’t happen in the ISFL Draft. Of course you have to factor in the fact that we’re moving to a new sim so maybe the old rules of the draft have gone out the window and maybe there’ s more value to offensive players in the new engine then there was in DDPSPF16 but I don’t have enough knowledge about the new engine to let that inform of my decisions. I just think there’s always going to be more running backs out there for you to either draft or pick up off of waivers or trade for then defensive players.
That’s why I think Cornerback Lawrence Miller will come off the board in the second spot. I really like Overdoo, mostly because enjoy his podcast. I also think there’s a lot of value in drafting someone who has podcast experience. I think podcast help people get engaged in the league and I think it’s a fairly consistent way to make money.
Another thing I should point out here is that I’m not all that familiar with he GMs of each ISFL team so I might accidentally mock some going higher when the rules state that all ISFL GMs have to go in the second round of the draft. That’s why I’m not taking Jim The Vampire here who I think would be the third pick but I believe Kyle is a GM if I recall correctly.
I actually think Madison Hayes will be the first offensive player off of the board. They have the most TPE and running back is a fairly important position despite what I’ve said previously about Xander Creed. As far as I know the ISFL is primarily a passing league but with a new sim, they’ll be new tactics to a certain degree and even if things stay the way they have in the past. Running back is still useful.
As a linebacker myself, I’m a bit bias towards the position so I’m going to say that Duke Cheeks comes off the board fourth. I think JTV would go ahead of him but I’m pretty sure he’s a GM so I think Dukes could be the first linebacker off the board and since the ISFL draft is traditionally defensive heavy, I think Cheeks could go as early as the fourth pick.
Since so many people have Watts as going first overall, I don’t think I can drop them any further then fifth. That might even be too far of a drop honestly but I’m just using the past trends to gauge how I see this draft going and in the past couple of ISFL drafts we’ve seen the early picks be dominated by defensive players. Defensive players are just a more valuable commodity overall then offensive player with the way the league works. That might change in the new sim engine though. Who knows?
In terms of how I feel about my class, I would say that while it's far from the largest class in history, I think it's a very competitive class with a lot of hard workers in it. Some of that maybe bias on my part but I do think this is a class and a draft filled with a lot of potential talent in it.
As for where I’ll end up, I have no clue. I’m right in the middle and kind of trending towards the lower half of the class when it comes to TPE so I think I’l be a fairly late round pick. Maybe the fifth or sixth round depending on how big the class is.
I’m also historically terrible at pre-draft interviews so that probably hurts my stock. I’ll say I’m going to number seventy-five overall. With no knowledge of how big this class is or how many rounds it’s going to go . I’m just going to guess I’ll be the seventy-fifth overall pick.
