As a quick and intimidating pass rushing linebacker, Dexter Hall sets to showcase his skills in the DSFL next season. In high school, Dexter was not on a strong football team. This resulted in Hall and recruiters to underestimate his true abilities. As a freshman, Hall was small and could not keep up with his classmates physically. Luckily, everyone makes the freshman team, and everyone gets some snaps each game. Due to his physical shortcomings, he had to refine his technique to be able to beat larger linemen and get to the quarterback. With minimal playtime due to his lack in size, speed, and strength, Hall only registered 1 sack and 2 TFL's his freshman season.
After his freshman year, Hall hit his growth spurt. He grew to 6'2'' and 240 lbs. Now, Dexter could keep up with all his teammates in both speed and strength. With his above average technique and now respectable speed, Hall was able to make the Varsity team in his sophomore year. After a few practices, Hall was given the nod to take a starting role for the defense. He was confident that he could overpower and offensive lineman or running back that tried to block him, but unfortunately the team as a whole was dysfunctional. The team only won 2 games the entire season. In his sophomore season, Dexter managed to sack the quarterback 5 times with 10 TFL's and 1 (lucky) interception.
Entering his Junior season, Hall tried to motivate his teammates to train and set goals for the year. Despite his efforts, no one seemed interested in what he had to say. Hall trained as much as he could while his teammates left practice early or didn’t even come in the first place. He realized that if he wanted to win games, he needed to score points. The offense was incompetent and could barely sustain a drive longer than 5 plays and the rest of the defense seemed to be afraid of the ball carrier. Hall adjusted his technique when sacking the quarterbacks so he could get fumbles instead, and then he worked on his speed so he could turn those into recoveries and touchdowns. This new technique got the team 5 wins in his Junior season thanks to his 8 forced fumbles, with 3 being returned for touchdowns.
In his final year, Dexter Hall started to look towards establishing himself towards a pro career. He knew that every aspiring football athlete aims for the ISFL but with his poor supporting cast on his team, Hall knew that he would not get recognition in the ISFL. Then, he looked at the DSFL, a development feeder league for the ISFL. With a strong season in the DSFL, he could make his dream of making an ISFL roster come true! In his final season, opposing coaches game planned against Hall and often had him double or triple teamed. A broken thumb ended his season early and Hall was only able to record 2 sacks. Now Hall hopes he can rebound from his disappointing senior season and only his entire high school career with a chance on a DSFL team.
