A player who’s likely to fly under the radar heading into this postseason is Anton Bruckner, an O-lineman out of WU. The school's limited football program has kept the spotlight off of Bruckner, but his talent and the league's current offensive lineman demand indicate that Bruckner will probably find himself on a roster. So what do we know about him?
Well...not much yet. We obviously have tape of him on the field, revealing Bruckner to be a well rounded lineman with potential to grow. He doesn’t have the big game accolades of his peers, which will certainly be a factor to consider for teams looking to bolster their OL depth in the upcoming draft. During his 4 year stay at WU he racked up a grand total of 0 championship or bowl games. Furthermore, his average opponent wasn’t exactly league caliber. So why am I writing about Bruckner at all? Quite simply, his incredible fundamentals should make him impossible to ignore in the middle of the draft, particularly in this position. The small-school experience also provided Bruckner with experience at both guard and tackle, which gives him a little flexibility as a small bonus. Though his quickness and agility lend themselves more to the tackle position, he could certainly hold his own at guard.
Off the field this prospect is a bit more of a mystery. We know he was born in rural Alaska before going to school all the way in North Carolina. Here’s the really interesting part: Bruckner attended on a music scholarship. While I don’t think this will be on any GM’s mind while considering this pick, it is certainly a rarity in the league. If Bruckner does anything besides school and football they like to keep quiet about it with minimal social media presence. In fact, his tweet regarding the S28 draft if his accounts first tweet in 3 years. There’s a lot to be learned about this intriguing prospect over the next few weeks. Most importantly, can they successfully transition to the pro leagues?
