A mock draft already? Wow! I can hear you now: "Laser, how could you possibly know anything about who’s going where?" Well, the reason is because I’ve spoken to over 30 S27 draftees and ISFL GMs prior to the official beginning of the draft and have gotten a good idea for which teams may be taking each position. I am also a former GM, only stepping down officially less than 10 hours ago, and so have a good idea as to what teams need in order to operate. What is below is my best guess at what will happen in the draft based on what I know as of right now. I may make changes based on any information that may come out following this being posted, but I will be sure to let people know if that is the case.

Round 1, pick 1: Honolulu Hahalua
Team needs: DE, CB/S, WR
Honolulu has most of their team under contract for S27, and in fact the one of the only players currently not signed for next season is IA WR Jacoby Clay. Taking a look at the rest of the WR on the roster, we see the regressing Jed Podolak, who will drop to about 850 TPE this offseason, and the 594 TPE WR William Alexander, who was last seen in August of 2020. Active receiver Korbin Brown is leaving the team in free agency, meaning Honolulu is down to just two WRs. With two good RB on the roster, former GM Keʻokeʻo Kāne-Maikaʻi and Nicholas Ayers, having one switch is a possibility, especially with upstart Cobra Kai waiting in the shadows of the DSFL. Expect Ke’oke’o to be the one switching. In that case, which I believe will happen, the obvious choice in the draft will be a DE or DT. 3’ Jeffrey recently opted out of his deal with the team for next season and as a whole their DL is under 500 TPE outside of new co-GM Asher Montain. The hole in the roster could be easily filled by a top tier DL in the draft, but I don’t think they’ll go DL here. Instead, I think they go with the WR that they need, snagging Kansas City Coyote Eleven Kendrick-Watts, user 124715 with the first overall selection. They have a couple of WR in the DSFL, but neither seem to have earned much since being drafted and taking a known fantastic user in Numbers is a no-brainer if you’re Honolulu.
Round 1, pick 2: Baltimore Hawks via Philadelphia Liberty
Team needs: WR, LB, DE
Baltimore has a couple of glaring holes at WR, only carrying 2 on their current roster. GM Joshua Campbell and DSFL guy Mario Messi combine for a total of 1500 TPE. I don’t think that BAL will go QB this season (definitely not in the first at the least), especially with the number of QBs in the upcoming draft, but it is something to be thinking about for the team. On the other side of the ball, their DE situation is bad but not desperate. They have a total of 3 DL and 4 LB, and I think that they can use one of the LB to make up the difference at DL. They could take another LB to stash in the DSFL, but with their 2 WRs I don’t think they can take that risk in the first. However, Baltimore has some serious connections with the Kansas City Coyotes and seems to very much enjoy drafting players from that team. To that end, I believe that Baltimore will pick an offensive playmaker here, but that it will be running back Xander Creed, user Bandit239 out of Kansas City. Baltimore will likely have one of their receivers swap to WR or simply play them at WR and thus solve their problem on offense, leaving them in good position to get a LB down the road.
Round 1, pick 3: Philadelphia Liberty
Team needs: TE, RB, S
As of this moment, Philadelphia has only S19 TE Avon Blocksdale Jr. on the roster. However, I have it on good authority that S25 TE Dave Bautista will be rejoining the team for one more season, which means RB is the number one concern for Philadelphia with legendary rusher Sam Torenson nearing the end of his career. THere are some very good secondary players still left on the board, namely SparkySparky Boom-man and HeHateMe PickSix II, but I think that their hole at RB is more concerning than their hole at S. They also need a QB to take over for Brock Phoenix before too long, but have Ryan Negs in the DSFL building towards taking over. With that in mind, I think that Philadelphia will go with a known commodity that will be a good earner for his whole career and can be trusted as they continue their rebuild, and to me, that is RB Madison Hayes, user sve7en, out of the Minnesota Grey Ducks. He’s currently top in the class at 267 TPE and in talking to him seemed very open to the idea of Philly, having some friends there, so I think that this is a no brainer for the young growing team. He’ll fit in well and brings over GM experience from the SHL, so I don’t see a downside to this pick here.
Round 1, pick 4: Berlin Fire Salamanders
Team needs: DL, DL, WR
This team needs defensive linemen. There’s no question about it. With only 3 on the roster and the new sim requiring more LB than the old, they need to get someone they can slot in to help them continue to grow. They have a good base and should have been much better last season, but sometimes that’s just what the sim does to you. I could potentially see them taking a WR, depending on the situation with Schumi Hulkenvettel, but it’s nowhere near their biggest need. So with us seeing that the top 2 WR are already off the board, I think that the selection here will end up being DT Marlon Brando out of the London Royals. In my conversations with him Brando has been an absolute gem and a fantastic person to converse with, and I have little doubt that Berlin will fill the hole that they have and take one of the most personable users in this draft in one fell swoop.
Round 1, pick 5: Colorado Yeti
Team needs: CB, S, TE, LB, WR
So, to start out with, there are currently a lot of free agents that were with the Yeti last season who have opted out. Most concerning for the team is that they are losing Louisiana Purchase to retirement and Eugene Smoothie to free agency. That leaves two gaping holes in the secondary, and only one first round pick to do anything about it. They also have no active TEs, with their two on the roster being IAs Gronk Robertowski and Daniel George. At LB, they have IA Inspectah Deck with an expiring contract and two free agents that are most likely coming back to the team on restructured deals. As for WR, they only have 2, although those 2 are very good, combining for 2000 TPE roughly 60/40. If I am Colorado, I am looking at a cornerback 100% in this draft. Their other outside defender is S20 Randy Vuxta, and word on the grapevine has him retiring after the Ultimus and recreating, allowing Chicago to use his corpse for another season. Then, after next season, they would be down to 2 safeties. Their DSFL stash contains RB Anders Christianssen and not much else. So, I think this pick is narrowed down to three people: HeHateMe PickSix II, SparkySparky Boom-man, and Lawrence Miller. Two of these players are recreates, one of which retired from Colorado not long ago. The other is a newer user but a well-known SHL name. So, for Colorado, I think they will select SparkySparky Boom-man, user Fleshbagsoup of the Norfolk Seawolves. Colorado knows and loves him, as does the entire league, and he is a safety, a member of the defensive backfield that is so looking very concerning for Colorado. A great pick for both sides here.
Round 1, pick 6: San Jose Sabercats
Team needs: DL, TE, LB
This team really does not have a lot of holes. They are set in the defensive backfield, set at WR, have one of the best RB corps in the league, have a good QB. The only things they really need are a defensive lineman, as they only have 3 on the roster; a TE, as GM Jaja Ding-Dong is currently the only one on the roster, and an LB, as they have 2 currently on the roster with S17 player Tyron Brackenridge nearing retirement and a current free agent. I am unsure if he plans to re-sign with the team. To that end, I think that they will take a DL. The only one off the board so far is Marlon Brando at 6 to Berlin, so there is a pretty large choice. I believe that they will end up taking OL Maui Waialiki, user excelsior, of the Dallas Birddogs. Maui has expressed interest in switching positions to a defensive mindset and has been on a grind with his game recap medias. He’s also expressed interest in winning and SJS has been good at that recently with a battle-ready roster to match. I think this is a good solid pick for SJS here that will pay off richly for them in the long run.
Round 1, pick 7: Orange County Otters via Arizona Outlaws
Team needs: RB, TE, OL
As I just left the war room not long ago, I know exactly what OCO needs. They just traded away Tatsu Nakamura to Arizona as part of the deal acquiring this pick and have only Bronko Mills on the roster besides, meaning they need to either have a position switch or draft somebody here for RB. If they do have somebody position switch, it will likely be another offensive skill player, meaning that they would still need to do something with the offense. However, they also have an inactive DT Carl Wheezer on the roster, however, and could be looking for a replacement for him in the near future to allow them to move Wheezer to the offensive line. I think that they will decide to take a user that they want here rather than prioritize positions and go with a connection to the new GM Blasoon in DT Bean Beanman, user Seymour Snatches of the Norfolk Seawolves. He’ll be able to slot in almost right away but could also stay down another season to assist Norfolk in a shot at the Ultimini should they need it while he gains TPE. Overall, I think he would be a great addition to the team and fit perfectly into the locker room.
Round 1, pick 8: Yellowknife Wraiths via Austin Copperheads
Team needs: CB, S, OL
This is a team that honestly doesn’t really need your help for anything. They have a great setup on offense, perhaps only wanting for a TE but really they don’t need one. That TE wouldn’t get many stats for sure. They have a regressing OL in Maurice Virtanen, the beloved Murtsi, who we all hope will return to us someday. Then, the only other spot they have a place is in the secondary, where regressing CB Mervin Leonard is really the only weak point on the entire team in terms of TPE. He’s a fantastic dude, but his player’s just getting a bit to the old side. So I think that Yellowknife will take the best CB or S on the board here. They could just as easily have one of their current players position switch, but I think that they will take a cornerback here, going with Lawrence Miller, user overdoo of the Portland Pythons. Overdoo is known from the SHL and has amassed 250 TPE to date, good for 5th in the class. He also seems to be a great person to talk to from what I’ve seen around the league. I think Yellowknife will take him here with no regrets.
Round 1, pick 9: Orange County Otters
Team needs: RB, TE, OL
Here is where I think Orange County addresses their need at RB. I already went over their needs in the above section, pick 1.7, but I think that Orange Country goes back to the Norfolk Seawolves well and takes RB Ave Savage, user Guunar. He’s also got the Norfolk connection with Blasoon and I’ve seen multiple people talk about him in a positive light. He has a Dotts subscription so is into the league and seems passionate about running back in the conversation I had with him. I think he’d be a great fit here for the Otters.
Round 1, pick 10: Chicago Butchers
Team needs: QB
This team legitimately needs nothing. They have a full roster including 5 human OL and their only weak points are LB and WR, however they have replacements for both of those positions down in the DSFL already. I really think that they can afford to sit on this pick and trade it if need be, but I also think that they can afford to go ahead and take their QB of the future. George O’Donnell is entering regression this offseason and currently would be around 950 TPE after adding in all his new TPE from the offseason, and won’t survive for more than one or two seasons beyond that. Perfect timing to bring in QB Joilet Christ Jr., user AW13 of the Dallas Birddogs. AW13 has connections to Chicago, being the GM of both Muford and Bayley in PBE, and has built a Hall of Fame QB for SJS before in Joilet Christ. I think that Chicago, barring any outstanding trade offers, will take their QB of the future here at pick 10 and never look back.
Here enters the point where I have not even educated guesses as to what might happen and am simply going off of team needs and users at those positions. It’s really pretty much a crapshoot past this point.
Round 1, pick 11: Baltimore Hawks via Sarasota Sailfish
Team needs: LB, DE, OL
Baltimore just traded Ernest Lover to Sarasota today for this pick and Mike Karpaasi, so their need at DE is still there but not really a huge need. I have no idea what to mock Baltimore here, I will be honest, but I think an offensive lineman makes sense. However, the only offensive lineman is Cheese Farley, user Guriinwoodo of the Kansas City Coyotes, a spectacular user and person in general. Farley has made his intentions known to stay in the DSFL until he can’t be used anymore, but I think that Baltimore and their Kansas City Coyotes connections will take Guriin simply to have them in the locker room to hang out around. The user is that level of excellent to warrant this, and I truly don’t think Baltimore has enough holes to do anything else with here. Maybe when Farley’s DSFL eligibility is expiring Baltimore may try to convince Guriin to give the Hawks a few seasons of OL at the ISFL level before retiring, but again, I think the user is well worth the pick here. And, like I said, it’s pretty much a crapshoot past this point.
Round 1, pick 12: New York Silverbacks
Team needs: TE, DL, OL
New York currently does not have an TE on their roster. They do have 3 RBs, but they have no TE. I think that qualifies as a need, because otherwise, the only thing they really could use is maybe a DL to prepare to replace their older linemen, and even then the Silverbacks have Makoto Okawara down in the DSFL. They could also use an offensive lineman, as currently they have 3 humans, but you can always use more. That’s been my go to 3rd need for pretty much every team that only has two. But, ultimately I think New York will grab that guy that can both catch and block and haul in TE James Wilkinson, user treant, of the Bondi Beach Buccaneers. He’s 2nd in the class in TPE, only 2 behind the top guy with 265. He’s also got the ability to perform right away and really I don’t think that New York will let him drop any further. I expected him to be drafted earlier myself, but really I can’t find a place where he really makes sense other than here, and I do like the fit a whole lot. Seems almost like a match made in heaven.
Round 1, pick 13: New Orleans Second Line
Team needs: LB, K/P, OL
The OL here is again because this is a team without many needs, and the fact that they need a kicker badly enough that I would put it on this list should tell you a good deal. Inactive Lefty Lewis was a poor performer last season and the transfer to the new sim will allow no more favors than the current one. They really need to fix that position. However, I think that LB is probably what they need to be addressing with their first round pick. Near the top of the board is a certain linebacker by the name of Jim the Vampire, but he is the GM of the Austin Copperheads and will be drafted to them automatically in the second round. The next highest LB on the list is known recreate and former Sarasota QB TropicaliaCC, or LB Duke Cheeks. He’s got a job as a banker, knows a lot of the people in the league, and fills the one position New Orleans really has a need at. I think that NOLA will probably go back to a kicker after the first round, but here they take someone they can trust.
Round 1, pick 14: Arizona Outlaws via Orange County Otters via Yellowknife Wraiths
Team needs: WR, TE, DE
After swapping firsts with Orange County to acquire RB Tatsu Nakamura, the Outlaws really don’t have too many needs. They have 3 WR with one deep in regression, so I can see them taking a WR to fill that hole. They also have one TE on the roster. Most teams carry one, but many teams are also willing to carry two and have them spread out across the field. Lastly, Arizona’s only IA is Logan Noble Jr., whose contract just expired. So, I think that Arizona will end up taking Fergus Callahan Jr., DT from the London Royals. He’s one of the best DL still on the board, and like I said, at this point I really am not sure what’s going to happen. I feel like they could go in about 20 different directions and a lot of them involve trades. However I like H0PPY75’s experience from PBE as a GM, and I like his personality, so I’ve chosen his player to be the last one in my mock draft.
For those of you tracking at home and wondering what to put in your mock drafts, might I recommend the following:
Eleven Kendrick-Watts
Xander Creed
Madison Hayes
Marlon Brando
SparkySparky Boom-man
Maui Waialiki
Bean Beanman
Lawrence Miller
Ace Savage
Joliet Christ Jr.
Cheese Farley
James Wilkinson
Duke Cheeks
Fergus Callahan Jr.
If you have comments or concerns and would not be leaking if you shared them, please feel free to reach out and let me know so I can put out a better mock that will be more accurate!

Fergus Callahan Jr.
If you have comments or concerns and would not be leaking if you shared them, please feel free to reach out and let me know so I can put out a better mock that will be more accurate!
