Well, hey there folks. And welcome back to another of edition of Project Redraft… I guess.
We’ve fallen a bit behind on writing/posting these because of the hectic times in the league and in our lives recently, but don’t fear we still plan on completing this series eventually! I bring today rounds 6 and 7.
Previous Installments:
Intro + Round 1
Rounds 2-3
Rounds 4-5
Round 6, Pick 1 - Krakow Knights
TYRON SHIELDS, Cornerback (S22)
@TheCC - 936 TPE
Hordle: Moving from the line back to secondary. Nikah gets their first buddy and some help in the backfield. Tyron Shields, my DSFL GM and ISFL teammate. Much like Katarn, my interactions with theCC have been pleasant. Even if I’m not super active in the Ducks LR. Me and CC have had quite a few conversations on other servers. TheCC is a genuinely helpful and friendly person. And is a great pick up for any locker room. Not to mention the value that I get with this pick. Shields is a younger player and is just getting better as he plays. He’ll be able to lead my secondary for the next few years. As a Man to Man CB, I’m really hoping that Shields can be my number one shutdown corner. As I will have him going against most teams' number one receiver. Shields does fall into my older group of players as a season 22 player. But he should have plenty more years in him as a number one corner.
Round 6, Pick 2 - Barbary Pirates
MATTATHIAS CALIBAN, Quarterback (S24)
@PigSnout - 826 TPE
Zeagle: Well, the ball thrower guy on offense is important, apparently. My initial plan was to wait on drafting a QB, as there are nine QBs about 1000 TPE currently, seven of which will still be above 1000 TPE after regression. I figured that even if I were one of the last teams to pick a QB, I would still have some decent options to consider. However, when QBs started to come off the board, I realized that simply picking the highest TPE QB is not the best strategy, as I needed to ensure that the QB I picked was young enough to play 5-7 season at the highest level in the league. Even though high TPE isn't everything for a QB (just ask Jay Cue), having a low TPE QB is a surefire way to doom your offense.
With all that said, Getting Mattathias Caliban and user PigSnout at pick number 52 is one of the steals of the draft; he is a max earner who has built an awesome player through his couple seasons in the league. I am hoping that Barbary's balanced offensive approach will suit Caliban, who hopefully will be able to lean on our 1000+ TPE RB1 and WR1 for a season or two while he continues to max out his stats.
Round 6, Pick 3 - Bali Banteng
DERRED DE VILLE, Linebacker (S22)
@Exilizer - 1012 TPE
Rev: With the 53rd pick in the 17th annual Montana State Fair Pie Eating Contest, the Bali Banteng select linebacker Derred de Ville from the Sarasota Sailfish. Enough with the offensive players, back to defense we go! One question immediately comes to mind as I submit this pick - is this man related to Cruella de Ville, and if so, what can we do to stop he and his family from harming innocent Dalmatians? Derred de Ville is the fourth highest TPE linebacker in the entire league, so the fact that I've picked up one of the best players at one of the most in-demand positions all the way in the 6th round is pretty gosh darn cool. Derred de Ville's user, Exilizer, has been a member of the league's head office since I joined, and he is, from what I understand, the mastermind behind our forum transfer from jcink to... not jcink. I don't actually know the name of our new forum service provider, but it's a lot better than jcink was. The forum migration alone is worth a first round pick, so I am absolutely ecstatic that I was able to snag him this late in the draft. Excellent player, even more excellent user. This is maybe my favorite pick of the draft so far.
Round 6, Pick 4 - Pacific Ocean Gulls
DESHUN JONES, Linebacker (S22)
@Forty Jordy - 1009 TPE
Joefish: I know I got an offensive player with my last pick, but as they say, defense wins championships. Deshun Jones is another great addition to the POG secondary, he has over 1000 teepy bois and he's only from season 22, still a few more season until he has to regress. In addition to our first Linebacker and another defensive star on the field, the Pacific Ocean Gulls get an awesome user in Forty Jordy. Since joining the league back early in 2020, he's been all over the place. Drafted to the Dallas Birddogs in the DSFL then eventually to the Orange County Otters, the team I'm stealing him from. If his name sounds familiar, it might be because he was a fantasy manager, and you've probably had a chat or two with him. I'm glad to have another great user and player on the team to help contribute on and off the field.
Round 6, Pick 5 - Munich Machtapparat
JULIO JONES, Offensive Line (S23)
@24redcrayons - 860 TPE
Pat: While I was researching who to take with this pick I was taking stock of my current team and the identity it was forming. How to describe that identity in a word? Pain. This team I'm building is going to hurt people, from a defense full of players who will throw their bodies on the line, to a Running Back that seeks out contact and embarrasses defenders who think they can take him on head-on, this team has been built around beating people up. So, when you want to knock people down and then kick them when they're down, you look for players with a mean streak. Offensive Lineman Julio Jones is a road grader who isn't pleased with simply blocking someone, but wants to put them on the ground. User 24redcrayons carries that identity with him as an auditor, whose sole job it is to take things away from the other users. Okay, I kid. The auditors aren't all bad, but if you mess with them they'll make sure you never earn another TPE.
Round 6, Pick 6 - Western Reds
CHIKA FUJIWARA, Quarterback (S21)
@"Jackets28" - 1207 TPE
Simo: It's finally here, maybe you thought it was coming last pick but we are finally here a the man who throws the pigskin and the quarterback for the Western Reds is Chika Fujiwara. For one reason or another Chika has had some problems despite always being the best earner they could and now that they have the most TPE out of all quarter backs we are going to surround them with the talent to make the most of it and put a wall in front of them which should make Chika happier than a Melbournian with their crushed avo. We will finally be unleashing the beast that is Chika Fujiwara so Buckley's chance that Chika doesn't become the quarterback that we all have been wanting. We also see great things in the user here as an awesome locker room guy and will be added to the war room for sure.
Round 6, Pick 7 - Fargo Woodchippers
DESMOND SCARLETT, Cornerback (S20)
@Unicorn - 1372 TPE
Zayn: Man I was really surprised that Unicorn was still here this long, a lot of value seemed to be going to slightly younger players who have not hit their prime yet. But in the 6th round, I have to take the guy who has THE MOST tpe in the league at this moment (unless we did regression stuff already). Either way getting a guy like Unicorn this late with this much TPE is a steal in my book. Unicorn who was recently Arizona’s GM will bring a wealth of experience to my team and will be able to be a top Cornerback in the league for at least 3 more seasons with my team. Cornerback is an important position so to be able to snag two 1000+ TPE players to fill those rolls is amazing for my short term and long term success. The fact that Opposing players will have to deal with both Mendoza and Scarlett is a pretty exciting thing to think about
Round 6, Pick 8 - Tokyo Tanuki
GREEDY SLY, Offensive Line (S23)
@Sylphreni- 941 TPE
Swanty: So far, the Tanuki defence is shaping up very nicely indeed, but QB Howitzer has been making noises about the lack of offense that has been drafted. Clearly now is the time to turn our attention to giving him some help, and the first port of call has to be a star O lineman to keep him protected. And what better candidate than a player who is on course to be the strongest OL in the league in a few seasons time? Greedy Sly's career trajectory fits perfectly with Tokyo's planned championship window and has the added bonus of being a legend of a user. Sylphreni has been everywhere in the year or so that he's been in the league, and has amassed a wealth of GMing experience that will be invaluable, especially in helping recruit free agents, something Syl has had a lot of success with! Hopefully Howitzer will be content to have this beast of a player protecting his blind side.
Round 6, Pick 9 - Seoul Searchers
VIDEL-SAN, Wide Receiver (S23)
@ValorX77 - 952 TPE
Katarn: The Seoul Searchers select the first weapon for Colby Jack to throw to. Videl San, user ValorX77, is one of the best wide receivers still on the board. With 100 speed, they flew down the field this season, putting together an S26 campaign consiting of over 1,000 yards receiving and 9 touchdowns. Speed kills in this league and that is exactly what the Searchers offense needs right now. Player who can simply take the top off of defenses will not only make big plays downfield in the passing game, but also open up running lanes for Mr. Petrongolo and other backs. As a user, ValorX77 has been around for close to 2 years now, with Videl-San being their second player after QB Ryan Leaf Jr. They are a league vet who will bring that experience into the locker room and maybe even the war room. I think having a mix of veterans and newer users is best for team chemistry, and Valor figures to play a large part in that.
Round 6, Pick 10 - Santiago Condors
ASHER MONTAIN, Defensive End (S24)
@Attopax - 678 TPE
Slate: Son Goku was taken just a few picks after my previous selection as I had anticipated, but like I said I had an ace up my sleeve for the Santiago Condors' first selection at Defensive End. Asher Montain is clearly a wrecking ball of a player on the field, in this past season amassing 13 TFL (tied for 5th most in the league) and 11 sacks (tied for 2nd most of the league, and the most by any DE). User Attopax is heavily involved with the league, serving as part of the Appeals team and doing lots of wiki work in addition to recently taking over as Honolulu co-GM. However, the tracker only lists him at 678 TPE, far below the rest of his peers in S24 and even dangerously close to some S25 players. When looking through the S24 class, that number jumped out at me as something that seemed very at odds with my perception of Attopax's level of involvement with the league. I investigated further and was rewarded for doing so, because I found that even though Atto's last update was on December 5, he has continued to do every week's predictions, PTs, ACs, and WT since then. By my estimates, claiming all of that TPE would vault him all the way to the high 700's at least, putting him right up there at the top of his draft class. Given the dearth of high-earning young DEs, getting a user like that is an absolute steal this late in the draft.
Round 7, Pick 1 - Santiago Condors
JACKSON KINGSTON, Wide Receiver (S23)
@Daybe - 939 TPE
Slate: I was extremely pleased with how the Santiago Condors were shaping up to this point in the draft, but this pick was the first one that really gave me trouble in terms of picking what direction to take. I could maybe take a LB to start filling out the as-yet-untouched middle level of my defense, I could take one of the premier QBs left on the board, or I could take an outside WR to bolster a multiple passing attack with Watts and Angler. In the end, it came down to looking at the remaining players left at each position and realizing that WR was the thinnest group out of all of them. While there were other solid WRs in later draft classes, Kingston was the only remaining player from the top tier of S23 WRs and I wanted to start my pass catchers off with someone who had enough TPE already to hold his own against some of the elite CBs my fellow GMs were drafting. Upon making this pick I was informed that user Daybe uses Discord light mode, which is repulsive, but I guess my streak of high-quality users had to end at some point.
Round 7, Pick 2 - Seoul Searchers
PETE “PLOP” MILLER, Defensive Tackle (S21)
@BRNXB0MBERS - 1244 TPE
Katarn: After two offensive selections by the Searchers, it was time to get back to building the core of the defense, this time focusing on the big boys in the trenches. Pete “Plop” Miller comes in with a whopping 1244 TPE. Despite being just one season away from regression, Plop should be a force for seasons to come. He has 229 TPE banked to prepare for regression. Additionally, even when regression does start to eat into his attributes, defensive linemen are one of the few positions that can still be efffective at lower TPE amounts. This season for the Outlaws, Miller had 10 sacks, tied for 3rd most in the league and 2nd most among defensive linemen. Also, completely unrelated to his performance on the field, Plop has one of my favorite renders in the league, totally underrated. The user behind Pete “Plop” Miller is BRNXB0MBERS, and while I do not know him personally, I know he is a league veteran, having been here for over a year. Additionally, he is one of the more amusing accounts to follow on Twitter. All around, this pick will be of great benefit to the team both on and off the field.
Round 7, Pick 3 - Tokyo Tanuki
TARO RAIMON, Wide Receiver (S24)
@xTri - 783 TPE
Swanty: While I thought the selection of Greedy Sly previously would satisfy Howitzer for now, he has become even more vocal, complaining that 6 picks into the draft, he still doesn't have anyone to throw the ball to. At the risk of a mutiny breaking out, it's time now to draft a wide receiver. 7 have been taken so far, but I'm ready to take the top prospect from the S24 class, Taro Raimon, a player who fits perfectly into Tokyo's plan. If he continues earning well, he and Howitzer have the potential to be a league leading combination in a couple of season's time. I don't know a huge amount about user xTri but I'm eager to welcome him to our locker room and to have him lead the Tanuki's receiving corps for a long time to come.
Round 7, Pick 4 - Fargo Woodchippers
MELVIN MURDER-MOOSE, Linebacker (S24)
@SchwarzNarr - 767 TPE
Zayn: I wanted to get a 2nd linebacker here, and I also wanted one that was younger than Bass. With the top Linebacker in S24 taken, I looked at another great user in Swartz. This might also be a LR fit as she and my 3rd round pick Lim have been on the Yeti together for a few seasons, and she is the Rookie Mentor Head, making her Lim’s boss. Outside of her league Job she is just a pretty cool person, I was invited to her moose emoji server which is definitely a plus. If anyone has not seen the cute emojis she has made you are missing out completely, she also made a very cute emoji for New York which I use A LOT!!! Murder-Mouse is a user that would easily slot in next to Bass, and being only an S24, she will be a cornerstone to my team for many many years.
Round 7, Pick 5 - Western Reds
JED PODOLAK, Wide Receiver (S19)
@KC15 - 1007 TPE
Simo: The Western Reds needed another wide receiver so we opted for Jed Podolak here. Over 1000 yards last season and goes for big plays averaging 17. Only 2 touchdowns last season but we don't see that is a problem with the weapons we have all over the bloody park there is no way they will be double teaming anyone so with one on ones everywhere and one of the weaker defenders left for Podolak he will be racking up touchdowns like hes out late at.... he'll just be scoring a lot of touchdowns ok. Looking over their whole career they have consistently been over 1000 yards and bringing that to the Reds will be big. Also like couple of our other pickups we love this move from a locker room and especially war room angle. Will make a huge and positive difference for the Western Reds out in Western Australia.,
Round 7, Pick 6 - Munich Machtapparat
MIKE BOSS JR, Quarterback (S24)
@JBLAZE_THE_BOSS - 775 TPE
Pat: With my defense looking strong and a strong run game shaping up here in Munich, I decided that now was the time to grab my Quarterback of the future. What better QB could you ask for than Mike Boss Jr, another player from user JBLAZE who has I believe two Hall of Famers on his resume, including Mike Boss Sr, one of the best Quarterbacks in the history of the ISFL. Boss is only a Season 24 QB, meaning he has a good number of seasons left in him to keep earning and burning before he hits regression. Sure, i don't have anyone for him to throw the ball to as of yet, but when you have a QB with the talents of Boss, Jr you can make any receiver look like a star. As a bonus I get to add the Quarterback who won Tijuana the Ultimini when I was on the roster in Season 25.
Round 7, Pick 7 - Pacific Ocean Gulls
ADAM SCHELL, Linebacker (S24)
@Cincyfan96 - 766 TPE
Joefish: Back to back linebacker picks? Some may call me crazy but this is another great pick to me, the completely unbiased person who made it. Adam Schell is a younger guy, only season 24, and not the top earner in his class, but still one hell of a pick. Adam Schell is one of my teammates on the Berlin Fire Salamanders, so he's used to losing. He'll fit in here perfectly. jk. But in all seriousness, Schell is a great player. 125 tackles last season, two forced fumbles, three sacks, eight passes defended, and an interception. I'm looking forward to having him progress in the Gulls locker room. User Cincyfan is pretty cool too, and a greta guy in the locker room. Also he already did his activity check and weekly training instead of waiting ntil last minute Saturday, so I probably just drafted a psycopath.
Round 7, Pick 8 - Bali Banteng
LESEAN PARIS CROOKS, Cornerback (S23)
@The_Kidd - 885 TPE
Rev: With our 68th pick in the redraft, the Bali Bloodhounds select LeSean Paris Crooks, cornerback from the Austin Coppersneks. LeSean Paris Crooks is one of the best young cornerbacks in the league, sitting at a respectable 885 TPE despite only creating in season 23. Paris Crooks is the top cornerback from his draft class and one of the best defensive players on a stout Austin Copperheads defense. At this point, I'm feeling pretty good about the foundation of my team - I've got a star player in each defensive position group, I've got an excellent quarterback, and I've got a veteran receiver for him to throw the ball to. I thought about drafting a runningback here, but I was pretty sure the RB I was eyeballing would fall to me, and I couldn't pass up the chance to get both starting cornerback roles ironed out early. Now that I knew I wanted to go cornerback here, Crooks was a no-brainer pick here amongst the available players. Welcome to the Banteng, Kidd!
Round 7, Pick 9 - Barbary Pirates
GOAT TANK, Defensive Tackle (S25)
@Eldorian - 647 TPE
Zeagle: GOAT TANK! With the memeiest pick number, I pick the memeiest player in the league. Defensive line is one of those positions where a player can be effective at a lower TPE, so I was planning on using my DTs and DEs as a way to draft younger players into the team that had great users behind them. I also considered Medicinal Tolblerone here, but I decided that DT was more important to fill than DE, as a speed rusher LB could always fill in effectively at DE, while DT is irreplacable.
Ultimately, the choice to take Mr. Tank was an easy one, as Eldorian is not only the top earning DT in all of S25 ( I know becuase I am second and many TPE behind him), he is the top TPE player in ALL of S25. His decompiling of the sim to discover the blocking formulas revolutionized DT builds and he had one of the best defensive seasons in recent memory. His build is excellent, as I used a modified (improved?) version of it and also won DTotY the season after he did. Eldorian is an amazing user who is involved in many aspects of the league, and is an incredible snag this late in the draft
Round 7, Pick 10 - Krakow Knights
BEN SLOTHLISBERGER, Quarterback (S22)
@slothfacekilla - 1096 TPE
Hordle: So with pick 70, I finally switch my focus from defense to offense. Slothlisberger isn’t someone that I have interacted with. But I have heard good things about him. As a season 22 player, he is a bit more experienced and should be able to lead the team to victory. I will be looking to give Slothlisberger the protection he needs and hopefully a few younger weapons to connect with. Luckily for me and Sloth there are plenty of weapons to choose from. Though I have focused on more of a defensive build and will continue to do so. I can’t exactly field a football team without a QB, or an offense in general. I had to take a QB at some point and I liked the idea of having a bit of an older QB to lead the team. But still young enough to not die on me after one season.
At the end of seven rounds, the teams are as follows:
Slate – Santiago Condors
RB Zoe Watts, WR Jackson Kingston, TE James Angler, DT Patrick Money, DE Asher Montain, CB Brandon Booker, S Eugene Smoothie
Katarn – Seoul Searchers
QB Colby Jack, RB Joseph Petrongolo, WR Videl-San, DT Pete “Plop” Miller, LB Heinrich Kackpoo, CB Matt Krause, S Shawn Dawkins
Swanty – Tokyo Tanuki
QB Sam Howitzer, WR Taro Raimon, OL Greedy Sly, DT Tyler Montain, LB Juan Domine, LB Brach Thomaslacher, CB Harrison Andrews
Zayn – Fargo Woodchippers
WR William Lim, DE Son Goku, LB Lawrence Bass, LB Melvin Murder-Moose, CB Colt Mendoza, CB Desmond Scarlett, S Phillip Stein
Simo – Western Reds
QB Chika Fujiwara, RB Raphtalia Chan, RB Jamar Lackson, WR Michael Witheblock, WR Jed Podolak, TE Heath Evans, OL Jay Cue
Pat – Munich Machtapparat
QB Mike Boss Jr., RB Richard Gilbert, OL Julio Jones, DE Troen Egghands, LB Adelie de Pengu, CB Andrew Witten, S Maverick Bowie
Joefish – Pacific Ocean Gulls
WR Tychondrius Hood, DT Otis Allen, DE Mario VonPebbles, LB Deshun Jones, LB Adam Schell, CB Tyler Oles Jr, S Cuco Clemente
Rev - Bali Banteng
QB Suleiman Ramza, WR Ed Barker, DT Magnus Rikiya, LB Derred De Ville, CB Osiris Firestorm-Fjord, CB LeSean Paris Crooks, S Matt “Son of Havoc” Cross
zEagle - Barbary Pirates
QB Mattathais Caliban, RB Tatsu Nakamura, WR Kai Sakura, DT Goat Tank, LB Haha Mango-Panda, CB Eldrick Avery, S Prince Vegeta
Hordle – Krakow Knights
QB Ben Slothlisberger, DE Immanuel Blackstone, DE Albert Ruschmann, DT Leon Mcdavid, LB Douglas Quaid, CB Tyron Shields, S Jamie Nkiah
Let us know who's doing the best so far and whose team sux lmap. Keep your eyes peeled soon for future rounds!
