Ranking the QBs from the ultra-deep S28 class, from worst to best:
The DSFL Draft is just days away at this moment in time and the excitement level is on the stratosphere. On the 20th of January, numerous prestigious prospects will hear their names called by the commissioner, as will numerous unknows trying to make a name for themselves in one of the most competitive Sim leagues existent.
Football is, of course, a team sport. Every single position is of the utmost importance for their team as, in the end of the day, it takes all eleven guys on the offense and eleven on the defense battling as hard as possible for a team to come out victorious. There is no denial, however, that the most important position on the sport is the Quarterback. The most cerebral position and the only one, besides the center, that has the ball on its hand for every single play of the game. That is why it is so important for a team to get it right when it comes to drafting its QB of the future. A single pick can change or break any organization and a bad evaluation on a prospect can set your franchise back years.
There is no such thing as a perfect way to evaluate the prospects that are entering the league right now. With many teams possibly needing QBs in the DSFL for the next season, most GMs are at this very moment wishing there was such a tool. The Season 28 Draft Class is stacked with eight QB prospects available and there has been much debate as to what QB should go first.
I will try and do my best to rank them right now, from the ones I would least considering drafting to the ones that I believe are can’t miss prospects.
TIER 1 – Unknows
These three prospects have the potential to be exciting QBs in the league, but they are the only QB prospects that are complete unknows to the league and must be treated as such. You can´t really take any of these three in front of the other five as they have a lot to prove yet and to pass on a prospect that is surely to be a top TPE earner and locker room presence is a tough ask. It is expected that with the limited amount of starting QB positions on the league these three should consider changing positions to have a better chance at surviving in this league.
Number 8: Mark Higgins – user marklol
Being last in this list should not be seen as an insult! There are so many capable QBs in this class that even its 8th ranked player could actually be the best QB in many other classes. marklol was pretty inactive for many days and took a lot of time to even create an update page. Even though it seems like he has been doing everything he can to gain his TPE as of right now, there should always be some caution.
Number 6 (TIE): Erik Gaare – user Maupassant / Number 6 (TIE): Troy Abed – user noanic
It is tough to speak about Erik Gaare as that is actually me, so I will save you all of having the read that. Troy Abed seems to be on the right path as he can be seen sometimes active on discord and on the forum. I think these two can have solid careers and are unlucky to have created QBs in such a QB heavy prospect class. I expect both to change positions after being drafted in the late rounds of the draft. Troy Abed is also a very nice name for any fan of Community so he has that going for him.
TIER 2 – Stablished league veterans
These two are absolutely established users in the league and there are few to no doubts they will be top TPE earners and active on discord. If there were only these two prospects the class could already be considered deep and the fact that there are three other QBs ranked higher than them speaks volumes on how highly rated this class really is.
Number 5: Red Arrow Jr. – user RedArrow12c
A nice name and a very active user. I don’t really know what to say about Red other than the fact that he will be a very active QB and TPE earner in the league. I ranked him just below CLG Rampage as I had more interactions with CLG and that must absolutely mean that CLG is more active.
Number 4: Jacob Raske – user CLG Rampage
I saw this guy a lot on the rookie server and he was a pretty nice conversation. JPach told me to rank him last but I just couldn’t do it. Will be a top TPE earner and great QB to any team lucky to get him.
TIER 3 – The best QBs prospects… ever? (I just joined so sue me if im unaware that there have been hundreds of better QB prospects because these three impressed me)
Number 3: IsHe… ReallyInvisible – user JPach
I debated putting JPach here or on the TIER 2 but decided he belonged here, my reason being that:
1) he was actually very nice with me on Discord;
2) He has the best QB prospect name out of all of them;
3) He was my teammate on the prospect bowl and
4) His player shined during the prospect bowl and really looked like the only decent QB.
Number 1 (TIE): Dexter Zaylren – user Laser / Number 1 (TIE) : Raeni Clarke – user bex
It was tough for me, a newcomer, to really separate these two as I don´t have any personal connections with any of them and by resumé alone I couldn´t really tell them apart. Absolutely great and can’t miss prospects that will surely be the best QBs of the league in the very near future. Bex is the commissioner and Laser is the most successful GM in the league history (maybe?). Funnily enough these were two of the worst QBs in the prospect bowl for the first two days of the event, but I am sure the scouts will not take any of that into consideration… or will them? (they won’t)
