DSFL Mock Draft
Another note is that I didn’t pick any quarterbacks. This class is especially deep with the recreate QBs, so I felt it was best to avoid having to figure that position out.
Kansas City Coyotes
First up is the Kansas City Coyotes. The Coyotes said they had a lot of holes to fill, especially on defense. I looked at their team composition and felt like cornerback and defensive tackle could be a position of need in this year’s draft.
J00 – Juno Hu CB
One of the top CB prospects out of the new rookies in this draft class in my opinion. Juno started off strong in the first three games of the prospect bowl but after day 2, he fell off a bit. Regardless of his stats, he is a user that will be max earning or at least come close to max earning. He is very active in the community and as his teammate on the Jakarta Seafarers, I know that he will bring his passion for dot football to any locker room he gets drafted to.
Mango8154 – Daniel O’Leary DT
Can’t say too much about mango since I haven’t talked to him really but he’s been active so I think he can prove to be a starting defensive tackle for the Coyotes. O’Leary has yet to register a sack in the prospect bowl games but he has been pretty solid for Chernobyl. I have a feeling that the Coyotes will pick up a DT in the draft and with only 4 prospects in that position, the Coyotes may look to fill this need relatively early in the draft.
Tijuana Luchadores
Like the Coyotes, my information tells me that the Luchadores will look to fill some of their defensive holes in this draft. I believe the Luchadores are losing two starting linebackers so that will be a key position to fill. Unfortunately, there are no LB recreates in this draft class but, luckily S28 has a strong class of rookie linebackers. For the other pick, since the Luchadores have no defensive tackles on their roster, they will definitely look to address this position early.
Ilmari07 – Beefcake Johnson DT
Like the Coyotes, we have another DT. If the Luchadores don’t pick up Gravity, the one DT recreate, keep on eye out for them to pick up a DT. Like I mentioned with the Coyotes, there’s a limited pool of DTs so the Luchadores might need to invest an early pick to get an active and reliable DT. Ilmari07 is on my prospect bowl team and I can say that he’s a pretty chill guy and he will definitely be invested in the games like he is for the prospect bowl games!
Miller - Gritt Gurdur LB
One of the hardest picks I had to make here. The rookie LB class is very promising with multiple active users. These guys benefit from the fact that there are no LB recreates this season so if a team needs a LB, they’ll have to rely on their rookie to show up. I had to decide between Miller (Gritt Gurdur), Titansfan (Xavier Walls), jhatty8 (Brooks Bane), and me (Dexter Hall). Miller, Titansfan, and jhatty8 have been very active and are surefire to continue that way for many seasons to come. I kind of arbitrarily picked who would go to which team but I could see any of the linebackers going here, even the ones I haven’t mentioned.
Minnesota Grey Ducks
Moving onto the Grey Ducks, I have them doubling up on defense again. Linebacker is another position of need for Minnesota and looking at the roster, safety felt like the other early pick they would make. Like I mentioned before, all the LB prospects this year are top notch so anyone could be going here.
Titansfan - Xavier Walls LB
Titansfan has made sure his presence is felt throughout the league to improve his draft stock. Active from day 1, Titansfan can be seen all over the place, from the team locker rooms to the DSFL chat. Combine that with a position of need for the Grey Ducks, it is a match made in heaven. Walls stood out as the top LB prospect in the prospect bowl games after day 1 but the subsequent day 2 games caused him to slip down the rankings. Regardless, you’ll be getting a formidable LB with this pick.
Gene – Kelvin Harris S / Rockiesfan – Chathack’rius Smith S
The next tough pick. Both these rookies have been very active and with a positional need for Minnesota either of these two could get picked. Gene is on my prospect bowl team and he has been very active in supporting the team. Any team would be lucky to pick this guy up. The same can be said about Rockiesfan. You could make the argument to draft him just for his name! An active presence as a rookie, Rockiesfan is bound to be a valuable starter for any team he gets drafted to. Safety is a deep position for the rookies so don’t be surprise if you see Remulus Roman or Romulus Roman drafted here.
Dallas Birddogs
With the 4th team on the list, the Dallas Birddogs are the first team where I have an offensive prospect mocked to them. Gragg9 had the Birddogs taking Luke Quick, a WR recreate with their first round pick and I would agree with that. Still, the Birddogs will need receiver depth so look for them to pick up another receiver in this draft. Another position they want to fill is LB. With only one starting LB on the team, Dallas should grab another one to bolster their front 7.
StadiumGambler – Saleem Spence WR
Another guy from the Seafarers (see the trend? These Seafarer guys are gonna be good). Like most of the guys on this list, StadiumGambler has been active and shows potential to be the #1 receiver every team wants. Solid play in the prospect bowl also shows that this receiver can ball out in the next level.
Firstfray – Dexter Hall LB
I struggled with whether I should put my own player in this mock draft. With quite a few teams needing a LB and no LB recreates, any of the rookies could be realistically picked at any of these spots. With this here I just want to say that by picking Dexter Hall you’ll be getting a reliable user that just wants to see his dot make plays on the field!
Norfolk Seawolves
After a big defense run with the first teams, we have our first team where I have two offensive players going to them. Norfolk had a few holes to fill but offensive line stood out to me as one of the biggest. Lucky for them because these two OL prospects are fantastic. I don’t think the Seawolves would complain if they land these two amazing prospects.
Gragg9 – Anton Bruckner G
Another stellar prospect in this class is Gragg9. Gragg9 has been pumping out media with his most recent one being a DSFL 1 round mock draft. He has already showed his dedication to be a part of this league so don’t expect him to fall too far. The only way I could see his draft stock slip is because of positional needs and the decreased importance of guards (again, not sure if this applies to the sim though).
FootballIsCool – Stumpy Jones T
I haven’t had much interaction with FootballIsCool but based on TPE earned he should be drafted early. He’s also been a top lineman in the prospect bowl so hopefully that translates to the DSFL!
London Royals
Based on roster composition, I have the London Royals addressing the CB and RB positions. We have two great recreate cornerbacks and a great CB prospect in J00 so if the Royals can’t grab one of these guys Ace is a good second option. RB on the other hand isn’t that deep this year outside of the recreates so the Royals might also look at RB early.
Ace – C.J Sonjack CB
Ace created his player a bit on the late side so TPE wise he is a bit behind but he is a returning player (I think) so his existing relationships with the DSFL GMs may give his draft stock a boost. I want him to get picked early and play good so more of the Jakarta Seafarers are successful in the big leagues.
Vince – Brandon Prince RB
Vince has been very active! When all the recreates are off the board Vince is sure to be high up on many peoples draft boards. He also had a strong start in the prospect bowl with 4 touchdowns in the first 3 games but cooled off after missing the endzone in his next 3 games. One thing to note is Vince is going for a power back build which can be concerning because speed is king in the sim.
Portland Pythons
Pythons definitely will look to pick up a receiver in this year’s draft so it will only be a question of if Portland can grab one of the top recreate receivers. On the defensive side defensive end seem to be a position of need. Like DT, the defensive end pool is small so the pythons might want to keep on eye it otherwise they’ll miss out on an active DE.
Skorch – Andrew Warthol DE
Skorch has been active and has also been earning a good amount of TPE. If teams miss out on Project, the recreate DE, Skorch is a good consolation prize. His player has also been performing impressively in the prospect bowl.
Theultimateyeehaw – Chunt The Badger WR
Another top prospect with the new rookies we have Theultimateyeehaw. Active in both the discord and forums, The Badger is a close second behind Spence as the top WR rookie (besides recreates). He seems to be well liked in the locker rooms so I can see the Pythons taking a chance on him early.
Bondi Beach Buccaneers
Finally, we have the reigning champs, the Bondi Beach Buccaneers. Although they won the championship, there are still some holes to fill. As the last pick, they might only have a shot at one recreate so it makes it extra important for the buccaneers to do thorough scouting on the new rookies.
MachineEarnedRuns – Mongo DE
Both an active member and a solid tpe earner, MachineEarnedRuns could be a sneaky steal for a team that takes a chance at him.
Magnet – Rudy Gray T
Lastly, we have Magnet. He has been very active in the community and has been very confident that he will be the best player out of this draft class. Offensive tackles are always important for an offense to function but I’m not sure how it works in the sim. Regardless, Magnet should be a top OL prospect in this draft.
Again, these aren't necessary the first 16 new rookies that will be drafted but more a look at team needs and potential good fits. There are plenty of users out there that deserve recognition but I just couldn't fit everyone in! Best of luck to all the prospects in the last day of the prospect bowl and the draft presentation!
