As a running back and fan of the run game, I’m always excited at the prospects that are coming into the league and I wanted to look at the next class of potential running backs for season 28.
Busch Goose – Receiving Back
@infinitempg
This would be my pick for the first running back off the board for sure. The user behind the player is an integral part of the ISFL and can be counted on to earn max TPE. He’s a certainty that many DSFL GMs will want to bank on due to the volatile nature of the DSFL and its users. When you have a chance to get a high profile recreate, I think you have to go for it. The receiving back build will ensure that the Goose can get loose in many ways on the field and he’ll offer some versatility on offense. Also, if a team already has maxed out running backs, they’ll still want to add Goose for his potential pass catching ability too. He’s one of three receiving back archetypes of this class.
Tom Adamo – Fullback
@roastfuego
The only fullback in this class and possibly the first every ISFL history with the new sim, Adamo has great strength and blocking ability to be an asset to any DSFL offense. The user is another high profile recreate and I expect him to be the second running back selected in the draft. Adamo doesn’t have the speed that many of his peers have, but I think he’ll be able to join any DSFL offense and be a major asset to a team that already has max TPE running backs. The user behind the player is reliable and I’m really excited to see how fullbacks do in the league long term. I’ll be rooting for Adamo and watching closely for sure.
Lonnie Jackson – Speed Back
@Exilate
The user behind Jackson is joining from an affiliate league, PBE, and he’s off to a great start with his rookie point task done and a competitive speed back build. I don’t see much changing with the new sim since speed back has always been a popular archetype and we know speed kills. I’m going to venture to say that Jackson will be a top pick for teams looking for a running back. He could get a quick start in the DSFL on teams like Norfolk or even Portland as a backup to Bianchi. I like how Jackson’s career is starting out and I hope that he’ll get a starring role in the DSFL right away.
Brandon Prince
@Void_DCXI
Hailing from Michigan, the Power Back Prince is a great combination of size, strength, and speed. I can’t tell when his last visit was, but I can see the user behind Prince is very active with a complete rookie point task and player wiki page. Those are always great signs from a user earning perspective. If I were a betting man, I’d totally take a chance on Prince. He could be used in a versatile way on any DSFL offense and he’s got good indicators of earning potential as the season goes on. I think he could fit in well on a team like Minnesota to complement Hayes or Dallas since they lost Kai.
Archie Griffin
@Archinity
Another power back archetype from Michigan, (quite a coincidence!) Griffin is the speedier power back in this draft class. The user has recently logged in which is a great sign and he’s earned quite a bit of TPE with the rookie point task completed and ultimus week done. I see him fitting into the same roles that Prince might for the same teams. Really the two of these guys could be picked interchangeably so I won’t predict the order there. Griffin will be a good pick for any team and I think he’ll go fairly quickly in this draft considering teams that really need an active running back.
Lawrence McCoy – Receiving Back
@Forthefight
The second receiving back in this class has logged in fairly recently at the time of this article and that’s always a decent sign of potential there. He’s got a very balanced build between speed, hands, agility, and endurance so he’s very well rounded and could be a great backup option starting out in the DSFL. He hasn’t shown much activity outside of an update page and an activity check, but that could change as the draft gets closer. I think he’d fit well on a team like Portland since they have a strong passing offense and he’d be another great weapon for James to throw to.
Gerard Grenouille – Receiving Back
@toadallyfroggie
&
Aleksandr Vasiliev – Speed Back
@aimbotalex
Unfortunately, this is where we get into the probably inactive category of players due to lack of recent visits and site activity. There isn’t much to go on for either of these users, but I’m hoping they are active in discord and just haven’t navigated the site much. I will say that Vasiliev has the greater potential between the 2 users here since he’s got an update page, activity check and training. Grenouille hasn’t been back to the site since creation so I’d venture to say that he won’t be a top prospect for any DSFL team. Maybe this media post will tag them appropriately and bring them back to spark some life as a potential diamond in the rough.
Overall, I think this class has a decent mix of premier recreates, potential high earners, and mid to low inactives. I think it would be interesting to go back and review how my own draft class compared given that S28 was a reddit advertised draft class. In the end, it’ll be fun to see how some of the potential players like Jackson, Prince, and Griffin will do in the coming weeks. I love seeing guys defy the odds and jump out in front of their class and those guys have the potential to do it. I will probably do a half season check-in on some of these guys or do an ISFL review in the future!
