This season im going to do a recurring piece, simulating each game of the season for the ISFL and the DSFL. Im simming these games using PSF 20121 on mobile. I will write a bit about each game and post a screenshot of the stats for that game. This wont be super accurate because I did not build the full rosters, but the skill and capabilities are accurate to a best educated guess from some GMs in the league. The weeks are not accurate either as far as who is playing who because it is auto generated BUT the teams will all play each other the same amount of times as they do in the real season.
Starting with the DSFL week one.
NORFOLK @ BONDI BEACH
Bondi Beach got the ball first, but throughout the first quarter both teams exchange punts. Midway through the second quarter Bondi Beach drove within field goal range, but Norfolks Defense held strong. The Buccaneers settle for a field goal 38 yard field goal. 3-0. With hardly seconds on the clock the Buccaneers get a timeout off and manage to kick a 21 yard field goal. 6-0 BBB at Half. In the Third quarter The Buccaneers come out swinging with their only touchdown of the game, a 51 yard BOMB. They go for two but fail to convert. 12-0 Buccaneers. Norfolk finally retaliates and scores some points, a 44 yard banger of A pass for a TD. Extra point is good. 12-7 Bondi Beach. Both teams have proven their defensive mettle in this one, only scoring so far on field goals or big hitter high risk plays. With 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter Norfolk trues to go for it on fourth down at the Buccaneer 2 yard line. A TD here wins it. The pass however is batted down. The Buccaneers get the ball with 26 seconds left. A kneel would a safety so they run it up the middle BUT the running back is stuffed behind the line anyway for a safety. They fail to convert any hail marries on the following plays. 12-7 Bondi Beach wins.
The major notes from this game are the lack of a consistent running game on either side, strong defense, and the highlight being the Buccaneer pass rush recording six sacks.
Stats from the game.
KANSAS CITY @ TIJUANA
At the end of the first quarter Kansas City scores on a 12 yard pass but fail to convert the extra point. 6-0 KC. Both sides exchange punts for the majority of the first and second quarter, but towards the end of quarter two the Coyotes score another pass, this tine from 2 yards. Tijuana retaliates with 44 seconds left on a 13 yard passing TD. However with 6 seconds on the clock Kansas Cities kicker nails a 59 yarder to rebound from that extra point miss. 16-7 halftime KC leads. After a few long drives end in punts, KC puts up the first points of the second half after the running back breaks free for a 29 yard touchdown run. 23-7 Coyotes. With 2:29 left in the third the Luchadores finally get a break after intercepting a pass. Unfortunately the following drive ends in a punt. But once again the Luchadores defense forces a turnover, this time stripping the running back for a fumble. Tijuana capitalizes with a 13 yard touchdown. They fail the two point conversion though. 23-13 KC. Kansas City punts on the next drive, while Tijuana is able to nail a field goal. 23-16 KC. With a minute thirty six left Tijuanas running back pounds it in for a 1 yard score. Tie game 23-23. The Coyotes prevail though, after a few chunk plays and timeouts, they kick a 31 yard field goal to win the game 26-23.
The Major notes from this game were the KC running game (yea thats me what of it ?) dominating, and the defense doing its part with an interception. The KC rookie qb threw an interception, but completed passes well. Both teams look strong on offense, with defense needing work.
STATS
MINNESOTA @ DALLAS
Defense reigned supreme in this one. The first drive sees Dallas throw an interception. However Minnesota punts, dallas punts, min punts again. Finally at the end of quarter one dallas kicks a field goal to take the lead 3-0. At the start of quarter two the Grey Ducks kick a field goal of their own to tie it up 3-3. After a dallas punt, Minnesota has the ball, but throw an interception. Fortunately they force a punt and get the ball back. With 20 seconds left Minnesota kicks a 50 yarder to take the lead 6-3 at half. After a long drive at the start of quarter three, dallas ties it up with a field goal from 21. 6-6 tie game. At the end of quarter three, after a series of punts, Dallas manages another field goal, 25 yards this time. 9-6. After another series of punts Dallas kicks another field goal, 30 yards this time. 12-6. Then Minnesota punts, Dallad throws a pick. Minnesota Drives down field in the waning minutes, only to throw a pick in the dallas endzone. Dallas kneels the game out. 12-6 Birddogs win.
Dear lord baby Jesus im sorry if youre on the birddogs or grey ducks but this was a damn boring game for me to write about.
Highlites of this game is that the defensive backs can catch, and the kickers can kick. Both QBs went 0-2 TD-Int. Neither really did that well eunning the ball. Dallas doing better in that regard. Dallas didnt allow any sacks which is a plus. But overall good defense on both sides. Offense needs some work for next week.
STATS
PORTLAND @ LONDON
In the opening drive of the game, London throws an interception near the Portland Endzone. Portland then drives and scores on a 2 yard rush. 7-0 Portland. After trading punts London has the ball, but throws another interception. Portland responds to this field position with a good drive ending in a 7 yard run for a TD. With a minute left Portland scores with a six yard touchdown pass. In the waning seconds of the first half, London bombs a hail mary, and luckily their star wide reciever absolutely mosses three defenders and comes down with the catch for a TD. 21-7 Portland at halftime. At the start of the third, Portland scores again with a 9 yard pass, then after a london punt Portland scores again on a 13 yard pass. The fourth quarter goes scoreless with Portland mostly running clock out. Final score 35-7 Portland wins.
Notes for this one : Portlands Qb was efficient, not flashy. Londons Qb struggled. Portlands run defense might be top dog. Their pass defense was also solid. Pass rush was light in this one with Portland getting the games only 2.
