If anyone paid attention to the offseason, they probably know that a number of big names changed places. Colt Mendoza went to the Silverbacks, Darrel Williams ended up going to the Liberty with one of the biggest contracts in the history of the ISFL, Sarasota sending a king's ransom to get Ernest Lover, Howlett going to Austin to give them an outstanding WR core, and the big trade sweepstakes for Tatsu Nakamura that ended up with him going to Arizona in return for a very important pick in the upcoming Reddit draft.
Now, this gives Arizona the last piece they really need to be a true championship contender in the upcoming season. Along with an amazing back 7, 2 top WRs, and now a running back with over 1000 TPE.
Of course, this does leave Darren Pama, who broke out in his first season for over 1000 yards and 12 total touchdowns on 4 yards per carry, a bit out in the cold. I'll be frank, if there was a piece on last year's top flight offense who should have held us back from our full potential, it was Pama. Instead he was arguably better than a number of running backs with a whole lot more TPE. Still, play with fire and you might get burned, so putting his comparatively lower TPE in another position was what Arizona decided to do. Darren Pama became a Wide Receiver, to replace the at this point ancient Saba Donut, and is willing to sit behind as a wide receiver 3 for a long time for the good of the team.
Said Pama, when asked to comment, "I'm always willing to do what helps my team, and getting to be in the same locker room as Tatsu again is going to more than make up possibly getting fewer stats."
This reunites a few key people: Tatsu Nakamura, who was the GM of Portland when Pama was drafted to that DSFL team, Pama himself, and the outspoken Chuck Roth.
"Chuck's a good guy, but he has the tendency to get on other guy's nerves when he does jokes. It's hard for him to find boundaries over text, which I can't really blame him for, twitter's always a hellscape."
Pama had a few more comments about his teammate: "He has a lot of ideas, and generally does good work, so I can take him rubbing other people badly, since I do that myself some of the time."
There was one question that was almost assuredly going to be asked, and Pama was prepared for it. "Does this change your feelings about Bronko Mills and Orange County?"
Pama noticeably sighed at the question. "If any of you thought this would change my opinion on Orange County, then you and I have a very different idea of what my opinion on Orange County is. I like their logo and I respect their dogged ability to make the playoffs, even if it was infuriating to see them backdoor in in such a way to cost us a playoff spot last season. I have nothing against Orange County except as far as being the team on the other side of the field for some of our games and a direct competitor for the title of Best Team in the League year after year. And perhaps just being slightly disappointed that they didn't draft me.
As for Mills, my opinion has changed. The rivalry, as far as there ever was a rivalry, is over. My rivalry isn't with my fellow Running Backs anymore, I'm confident that I went out on top of the TPE in that position. It's with my fellow draft class Wide Receivers, and perhaps, my fellow rookie class as a whole. I made mistakes in my advancement early on, but now I'm in the top 20, and I'm going to do my best to stay there. I'm going to do my best to keep a stranglehold on the position of top Wide Receiver in the class. And I'm going to do my best for the team."
As for his team, Darren Pama was confident that this time, the result of the Outlaws season would be different. "Truthfully, I feel we have gotten stronger. Cue moving to OLine gives us quite a boost, even as Cortez isn't as good as he was yet. Nakamura and Gunner are a massive upgrade from me and Gunner last year, our Wide Receiver Core got even better than last year, and some of our secondary getting a bit worse doesn't at all balance that out. Also, to be frank, the Second Line retiring many really helps, as does Nakamura being off the Otters, not just on us. I am quite confident we can not just contend, but be in prime position for the Ultimus at the end of the season."
Pama was also asked to comment on his former DSFL team, the Portland Pythons. "They're in a very good place, after a long time being in the cellar due to terrible decisions made by former GMs, our last few sets have been really great and have really turned the team around! South, zEagle, you guys are doing an awesome job, keep it up, let's go get that Ultimini!"
