Zach here,
Well guys we are eight weeks into Season 27 of the ISFL and man what a year it has been so far for me and the rest of the Sabercats. At a team level, we are just firing at all cylinders and have jumped out to a fantastic 6-2 record this season. We are heading into a big four game road trip in the coming weeks so we need to be on the top of our game to make sure we are still in a strong spot for a playoff push. We are undefeated on the road this season so confidence is sky high. I really think this team has the potential to bring home the Ultimus this season and can't wait to see what we do down the stretch.
I want to call out a few individual performances this season before I get into a breakdown of my own stats and goals for the remainder of the season. First, holy hell my boy Tychondrius Hood. This guy has been on an absolute tear all season and is just making life easier for Tugg and I to find space in defense. He has really made our offense pack a serious punch and I couldn't be happier about playing alongside him. While he has a ways to go to catch Lim, Hood should be locked in for the pro bowl this season.
Next I want to shout out our running game. The offensive line has been dominating all season and Lackson and Cardrissian have been hitting the holes and breaking massive plays. Controlling the ball is so important to our game plan I can not stress how important the dominating performances have been to our season. Cardrissian should also be a name we look for when it comes to performance of the year. 205 yards on only 8 carries is insane and something I was excited to watch. I also want to give a group shout out to our defense. They have come on strong in the past few weeks and our dline has been chewing up quarterbacks. If they keep this up we can beat anyone anywhere.
Last shout out to our kicker Mcdairmid. Kickers don't get enough love and this man and his bionic leg have won use quite a few games this season. I know he has been frustrated by some of his punt but keep your head up man and keep drilling those field goals. Your locker room and the fan base loves you. Kickers are people too.
So to look at my own stats this season, I could not be happier with my performance. I already have 100 yards more than all of last season and my average catch is up by about 5 yards. I feel that I finally have figured out my role in the offense and feel so much better about my contribution than I did last season. I am seeing holes in the zone and really starting to make it as a slot receiver in this league. I know I have impressed some of the coaching staff and hope my teammates and the fans have enjoyed my progress this season. I know I haven't fully lived up to my draft status yet but I promise every single person reading this article that I am working harder everyday to get stronger, faster and smarter. I know I can be a top wide receiver in this league and help my team win a championship.
I bring all this up because I am extremely aware that my contract runs out at the end of this season. I am not oblivious to the fact the team drafted a wide receiver in the first round last year and so competition is tight. I have not had any discussions about coming back to the team next season. With that said, I love San Jose. I love the locker room, I love the city, I love the weather, I love the fans, I love my team, the jerseys, and really just everything about my situation. I said in every interview leading up to the draft that I wanted to play with one team for my whole career. I still feel that way today after two seasons up here in San Jose. I hope that they and the fans want me back and look forward to potential contract talks later in the season. In the meantime I have a job to do and I won't rest until I help bring back another Ultimus to the great city of San Jose.
Much luv to all,
Zach
