One-Time DSFL Ultimi Champ Jonathan Shuffleboard is expected to leave Tijuana and move to New Orleans. It has been an amazing three seasons.
Taking questions.
First up is slothfacekilla. Ben Slothlisberger is the QB of the New Orleans Second Line.
"Favorite memories in Tijuana?"
Hey, what's up sloth!
How can my favorite memory not be winning it all in my first season in Tijuana? That team was loaded from top to bottom. Ok, we weren't, but we did have a good regular season. Oh, actually we didn't have that either, but then we went on a great run and won it all!
Outside of that, another one will have to be when we caught GM Tonzy microwaving a salad. We all heard of the rumors, but seeing it for real? That was crazy.
"What are you going to do when you first get to New Orleans?"
When's that topless party? Mardi Gras? I wanna check that out.
I gotta meet up with Vincent Jones Jr., he said he'd take me around all the places I have to see. I'm going to try to drag future fellow rookie Kevin Morrison along. We've spoken a bit, but I haven't really got to meet him.
"Do you have any goals for your first ISFL season?"
DROY of course!
As a rookie in the DSFL, I won the championship. Would be pretty unreal to do it in the bigs as well.
Next up is Rich Triplet. Rich a DB on SJS. He and Shuffleboard both played for the championship Lunchadores in S25.
"Did you accomplish everything you wanted to in Tijuana?"
I was really hoping to announce this presser as 2x DSFL champ Jonathan Shuffleboard, but that didn't happen. I really thought we had gotten ourselves off the field on that 4th and 10 play, but it wasn't meant to be.
On a personal level, I didn't really have a particularly good season or even a few good games. I never got a game ball (ehm, you give them out and you have a few left...) in the locker room post-game. To say I accomplished everything would be a stretch, but I'm pretty happy with my junior career. A champion with a few solid seasons.
"Favorite game for yourself?"
So obviously it's the Ultimi winner and then the semifinal game that season against Myrtle Beach, but that's not what you are really asking, but it's the truth. There was one game last season where I got an interception to set up the offense in a good spot to win the game, but I try not to think about what happened after that play.
Outside of that, week nine this season. A fun back and forth game. Being in position downfield taking away the #1, watching the Qb go to his third read with the pressure without looking? Juno Hu jumping the route, taking it to the house? Unreal stuff.
"How do you expect your game to translate to the next level?"
Can't really know obviously. I expect to play some nickleback and special teams next season as my FS spot is taken. I'm a good cover safety so I don't think that should be an issue. My game is my speed, and that should really work at every level.
Next up is Cade Williams. Cade is an offensive lineman for Tijuana.
"Any goals you accomplished at Tijuana? Any you weren't able to accomplish?"
This is fairly similar to Rich's first question, so I'll direct you there. I am a champion, but never really went anywhere as an individual player. It's a team sport though, so I'm good with that.
"What will be the thing you miss most about Tijuana?"
Honestly, this secondary is mad cool right now. Juno Hu and Buck, Lux Opal, and Romulus, tons of fun to hang out with. Making fun of Tonzy. And of course my stature on the team. Being the most respected player in the secondary room isn't going to happen anytime soon in New Orleans. I've got much to learn until I get there.
"Why is Cade Williams so awesome?"
Who's that? I don't really hang out with offensive linemen who are around four times by weight.
I'm kidding of course. He's the real deal. Super Dude. And sponsors all our outings.
Next up is huck24. Vincent Jones Jr. played on Tijuana in 25 and 26 and is now a member of the New Orleans Second Line.
"Looking forward to playing with you again!"
As am I. Who knows, maybe the return for the Lunchadore/Second Line report. Might make some other players jealous though. And would have to add a few people. Maybe I'll just name it the Jones/Shuff report.
By the way, your SHL buddy Lyle Odelein III? Leading my fantasy team in points. Thank you very much.
"What are you most excited about when you join us in New Orleans?"
Playing with you again of course!
"Is there any specific things that you would like to accomplish in the ISFL?"
I'd really like to put up some good individual seasons, but most important is to win a championship. I think you'd agree that's the best goal!
"Do you want to be roommates on our road games?"
Of course! I don't want to be stuck in a three-person room again though. When I was a TIJ rookie because I was picked up off waivers they didn't have a room for me and they stuck me on the floor with you and NationalSimulation FootballLeague. Let's try to avoid that. Who'd you room with until now?
And last up is...
Some anonymous reporters ask...
"Any parting words for the next generation of Luchadores?"
Well funny you ask. Get number nine already, please! I really thought we had a shot this year.. But if you guys do it next year I'll still feel like a part of it, given that I taught you d-backs everything you know.
"Cover 0 or Cover 4?"
I'm not sure what you mean. We played a bit of Cover Zero which is fun because I get to blitz, but I didn't get home at all this season. I don't really like playing Cover Four though. I'm more of a natural Cover One safety due to my skill set. Cover Two leaves the seam open a bit too much, and here in TIJ, we haven't been known for our linebackers.
"How much of an impact does having the right underwear on have on your game performance? Do you ever go commando?"
Well funny you ask. Boxers can really have a negative effect. You could get the roll-up in the pants and it can throw off your timing both on cuts and jumps. With the briefs, you don't get much coverage anyway, you might as well go commando. Boxer briefs are really the only way to go in-game. I like wearing something in-game though, don't want any pants drop on a long pick return or something. Now, are we talking out of the stadium? That's a different story. More the girl's call though. Nothing like going from commando to naked I'll say that much.
"They say that receivers who can't catch play defense. Is that why you're playing safety?"
Receivers who can't catch play corner. Safties are too good to play receiver, the speed there is needed on defense. Corner though.. They bad.
"There are reports about you saying you're too slow to play at the ISFL level, do you have anything to say about that?"
Hmm... That doesn't make sense. I'm as fast as it gets. Slow processing maybe though.
