The following is a compilation of questions asked to cornerback Suggs Upshar during the 2042 Gasparilla Bowl postgame press conference with UCF Football head coach Dillion Wiggins, Quarterback Daniel Anderson, and Cornerback Suggs Upshar.
Rebecca Reid from the Orlando Sentinel, how does it feel to score a defensive touchdown in such a critical moment in such a big game?
It feels great, not going to lie. I played some Wide Receiver in High School, so its not a new feeling for me *laughs*. I was not half bad either, you should’ve seen me on my Sophomore year *laughs*. But in all seriousness, it’s awesome. Hearing the fans scream out of their lungs when you get the ball and getting more and more louder [sic] as you get to the Endzone. It’s great man. You always want to make a big play in the big game, and thank God our boys got me into a position to make it.
Antony Tavarez from the Orlando Times, you were barely playing in UCF’s first games, but you exploded to average 3 interceptions in your first 3 starts. What do you think was most important for you to climb up the depth chart.
It’s putting in the work. It’s all I do, it’s all I know how to do. Coach always talks about how important it is to work your as* off... *laughs across the room*. Oh, my bad guys. Um… How important it is to do your best in practice, to just try and improve and take one week at a time. You know, stay consistent and just help your teammates out. At the end I think I couldn’t have done it if I didn’t have the trust of our coaching and the rest of our team, but we have a great group of guys. It helps us out having a stud of a Quarterback in the field half of the time *points slightly to Daniel Anderson* *laughs across the room*. Thanks, Suggs (from QB Anderson).
Isaac Hector from Knight News.com, what are your future plans with the UCF Football program?
The best possible *laughs*. I don’t know man, I haven’t thought about it. I just want to play ball. I think that’s what we all want at the end of the day. You think that 3 picks in 3 games might get me a starting spot, right coach? *laughs across the room*. Easy there Suggs, easy man (from Head Coach Wiggins) *more laughs*. I know nothing is guaranteed, so I’m going in with the same drive to be the best player on the team. That’s just how I be [sic] like.
Rosalina Rodriguez from the Orlando Weekly, there’s been some talk about interest from the DSFL to get players from College Football and we saw some scouts not only on the Bowl game today, but on several UCF games. Would you go to the DSFL if called up?
Umm, I think it’s hard to pass up on an opportunity to go pro, right? Playing pro football is a dream job for all of us, so it’s not easy to say no. It’s a great league with some great players and a lot of competitiveness, so it’d be a dream come true. I’ll think about it for sure. Later though, right now I just want to think about some tequila shots and going to the post game party *laughs* *laughs across the room*.
Does anyone have more questions for them? No? Ok, thanks everyone, we’ll be going then. Thanks for coming, have a good night.
*Screams across the room* Go knights! *laughs across the room*.
