Ending my first season in the ISFL... looking for any questions!
Highlights of your rookie season?
My rookie season was definitely a tough one, biggest highlight would have to be getting my first sack. It took me 3/4 of the season to finally get at the quarterback despite being tooled up to do just that. So when I finally got the sack in Week 15 it was a big moment for me. Other than that maybe week 2 was the best game of the season for me with forcing two fumbles and recovering both against the Sabercats. Hoping that in the future I can have some big games and help the Hawks make a comeback in the league.
Why was lining up with Chet Larson the best?
Chet is just such a great player, he has been a pretty damn good influence in the locker room and on the field he was such a consistent force in the linebacker position that it made it easy to do my job. I think he only missed two tackles in the entire season which is a fantastic number considering he made nearly 100 tackles. I can only see big things for him in the future so I will look forward to lining up again next season.
Feelings about the Baltimore transition?
The transition has certainly been a big factor this season. I don't know the full story behind all the changes, I do think it could have been handled better but I think players and people who stepped up and interim-gm'd the team did a great job. It was a time of uncertainty and we lost a bulk of our team and some more of the established players. I was sad to lose a couple of people who I had started to become friends with but I guess thems the breaks. We have two new GM's and they will likely look to bounce back quickly. We have some good draft picks and a young core, with the season we had there is only one way up for us and I guess that is a good thing. I think it has been two seasons I have gone without a win now (one with the DSFL and now this season) so I am definitely looking to get back into a winning run. I have faith that we can right the ship and establish a new order, I know personally I need to get more involved in the locker room and increase the team morale as sometimes I have been abit absent lately but I want to work on that and be the change we need. Give us two seasons and we will be back to contender status.
Next steps for AJ Lucas?
The big steps for myself is to become an established rusher, I have been training hard and working to figure out the best place to put my hardwork into. Most likely I will try to do some speed work and focus on my ability to tackle. I haven't got any real weak areas overall but I need to improve so that I can stand out and be an X-Factor on the defensive side of the ball. My focus is going to be on being more available for media and work with my teammates to ensure we can all lift each other to succeed. This will of course lead to a bit of a bigger bank balance and my ability to train at the highest level and get some top tier equipment to compete.
And the most important question that you wanted answered - Pancakes or waffles?
I am probably a waffle man. To be fair, I have pancakes almost every weekend for breakfast and they are delicious however waffles are just something else and I feel are more versatile, you can have them for breakfast, lunch or dinner and they work well as part of a desert. The fact you can pair them with some fried chicken and they come out on top for me. Waffles do require abit more time with having to have a waffle iron and you can only cook a limited amount at one time, but they end up being worth it. Goddamn I know what I am having for breakfast tomorrow!!
