Okie doke, ladies and gents. I have heard a lot of things since I put out version 1 of my S28 mock draft, and I no longer have any confidence in my predictions past pick number 9 overall. So, this is an advance warning that I don’t have a single clue what is happening for picks 10 through 14 and that all of them are potential trades for one of the many top users left on the board at that point. With that all said, here is your draft order and here is my version 2!
Note: I was in the middle of writing this when the leaks happened. I stopped writing it under the assumption that while I did not see said leaks, I would need to as a part of my job as appeals head. To this point I have not seen the leaks from any source so will go ahead and put this out just for fun if nothing else. I won’t go too in depth with it.

1.1: Baltimore Hawks select Luke Quick, WR, BigRed1580
I have covered this in my previous version of the mock and it is one of the few picks that I am keeping the same, so I won’t go too in depth here. BR is a WR and Baltimore desperately needs some of those, and while they do have 1 and 2 overall and can switch the order of the picks if they so choose, I think that BR will end up being first off the board.
1.2: Baltimore Hawks select Busch Goose, RB, infinitempg
Like first overall, I have already covered this, so let me just say that I think that BR will end up first because of alphabetical order. They both want to be 1oa, but they can’t both be 1oa, so there will have to be some kind of method for taking one of them off the board before the other.
1.3: Orange County Otters select Dexter Hall, LB, firstfray
This will be the third of four consecutive picks that I have kept the same between the two versions, and it doesn’t require too much explanation. I will reiterate, though, that OCO could just as easily pick a WR here as they could an LB, and in that situation there are a ton that they could choose from. Saleem Spence, Sam the Onion Man, Chunt the Badger, and Bayley Cowabunga are all on the board and are all max earning. I don’t think that there will be 4 teams that need WR before OCO picks again, which is why I’m having them take one of the top two LBs on the board.
1.4: Philadelphia Liberty select Anton Bruckner, CB, Gragg9
This is the 3rd of 4 picks that I am absolutely certain of, the first two being the top two picks of the draft. Gragg is widely regarded as the top prospect at the corner position, and Philly’s biggest need is most definitely corner. This pairing just makes too much sense to try and predict anything else.
1.5: Berlin Fire Salamanders select Romulus Roman, S, Amulos
The first pick that is different from version 1.0! Instead of DL Glenn Smart, I instead have Berlin grabbing their future by the horns and drafting their favorite safety of the draft class. A few users that I have spoken to about this pick think that Berlin can wait a round to get this user, but first of all, safety is one of their biggest needs and if they like one they need to pick them up as soon as possible. Secondly, if Berlin likes this user enough to take them at 5, who’s to say that another team doesn’t like the user enough to take them somewhere between 6 and 18? Not me, that’s for sure. That is a risk that is absolutely worth taking. I don’t believe that I have ever talked to Amulos in person, but I do know that I have seen them around the site a good deal and that their sibling Vaelynn is also in the league, a running back named Remus Roman. I’d like to point out that this is a call to the Roman mythology, where a wolf raised two brothers named Romulus and Remus with the assistance of the River Tiber. Romulus went on to found Rome, one of the greatest cities of all time. Coincidence? I think not. Amulos means Starch in Rome’s native Latin tho, which to me is another indicator that this is a perfect fit: starch is the figurative meat and literal potatoes of a meal, meaning that Berlin will be all the better for having Romulus on the team. The final string connecting the two together is that Berlin is far and away the closest team to Rome (although admittedly this is simply by virtue of being in Europe).
1.6: New York Silverbacks select Manhattan Project, RB, modern_duke
This is another pick that is the same as it was beforehand! Yay! Now, I’ll be honest, I think that this pick could most definitely change. New York has only one season left, maybe two if they are lucky, of longtime defensive tackle Bubba Thumper. They really do need help on the defensive line. However, there are a ton of good options that just aren’t quite at the top of the board this draft, and I think that they should be able to pick up one in later rounds. I also think that this pick could be traded, but if it is traded I believe that it will be traded to Colorado, who would then pick the same person here. So I stay with Duke at this pick, although it’s the first pick that I’m more unsure than I am certain.
1.7: San Jose Sabercats select C.J. Sonjack, CB, user Ace
Another variance from the original mock! In free agency, San Jose lost CB Rich Triplet to Arizona and lost DE XFJ-W (I’m sorry but your name confuses me, and this way it sounds like a prototype fighter jet and that’s just badass) to Colorado. They will need another DE to replace him, but the DE in the IA market are much better than the CBs on the IA market, so I predict that they will take Ace here. Ace is a transplant from the SHL, and has always been competitive yet fun to talk to in all of my interactions with him, which is exactly the sort of attitude that I think would fit excellently into the SJS locker room. He’s essentially a guaranteed max earner, and will be a great pick for San Jose’s future.
1.8: Yellowknife Wraiths select Prof. Godfrey Gravity, DT, user z0rem
This will, very surprisingly, be the first DL off the board. It is the same pick as my previous version of the mock draft, so I won’t have too much to say, but a top new user at a position of need for YKW and not much that can go wrong here.
1.9: Arizona Outlaws select Glenn Smart, DE, user Pib
Now, I know that I originally had Pib at 5th overall to Berlin, but I have heard rumblings, and I am absolutely certain that Pib will be an Outlaw. Now, I am not sure if Arizona will choose to trade up for Pib, but I do know that Pib has told teams that Arizona is their preferred destination, and so for Arizona to trade up it would not be worth it honestly. Pib is one of the best new users in this class as well, and it allows AZ to bank against the future with their close to regression defensive linemen.
1.10: Chicago Butchers select Stumpy Jones, OL, user FootballIsCool
Now, I’ve said it in the NSFC primer, I’ve said it in the version 1 of my mock, and I’ll say it again here: I don’t got a clue what CHI will do. They need next to nothing. So, I think that they take the best player on the board and the one position that they kinda need a little bit and snap up Stumpy here. He’s one of the top two OL on the board and is in fact the top earner in the entire class. Can’t go wrong with that, which is why I don’t think there’s any chance they let him drop any further.
1.11: Colorado Yeti select Xavier Walls, LB, user xtitanxmvpx
While Colorado is picking one spot ahead of where they were in my original mock, I believe that they will end up with the same pick. They don’t need pretty much anything, so I think that they will go user first again. Titan has been very active in the league especially recently, and picking him could also end up being a shore against expansion as well.
1.12: Honolulu Hahalua select Sam the Onion Man, WR, user Duilio05
I didn’t have Duilio in the original version of my mock, but not because he’s not worth a first. He absolutely does, there were just so many question marks it was hard to figure anything out. However, I think it makes sense for Honolulu to take him here, letting him come up right away and be the 4th receiving option until Podolak regresses hard, when he’ll bump up the leaderboard consistently.
1.13: New Orleans Second Line select Mongo, DE, MachineEarnedRuns
New Orleans finds themselves unexpectedly needing a DL, and so they draft one in the first to be the replacement for Magnus Rikiya, who has left in free agency. Mongo is quiet in general channels but is a joy in the locker rooms, and I see him fitting in very well with the guys over in NOLA.
1.14: Sarasota Sailfish select Chunt the Badger, WR, UltimateYeehaw
Once again a player that I have out of the first making an appearance in version 2. I have heard that Sarasota is interested in Chunt, and that Chunt really should not fall out of the first no matter what. Combine those two, and you get a perfect match here at pick 14 of the draft. An excellent user joins the reigning champions.
I know that this was kinda hastily thrown together towards the end there, but I need to eat before the draft and I want to get it out. Enjoy!
