Howdy! In this media I figured I would make a little FAQ over how the scouting process went. Below you will see the question that was asked to me by the scout. The first bullet point under that question was the response I gave the scout. The second bullet point under the questions is kind of my reasoning/explanation behind the answer I gave. Give it a read and drop a comment!
- How have you enjoyed the ISFL so far?
- It has been awesome! It was rough at first but people like slate and mag have been super helpful with getting me up to speed and figuring out the sim.
- One message from mag started it all: “Hi there! I'm reaching out from the ISFL, as my team (the London Royals) just drafted you to be our CB in the upcoming season. If you'd still like to play with us, we would love to have you join our team! Please let me know if you are still interested, and I'll be happy to help you get set up with everything!” As you may have heard on the draft show, I was an 8th round inactive pick. I was not even planning on playing the ISFL because after looking at everything it seemed so overwhelming. Had it not been for the kind and friendly people over in London I would not be here today!
- What would you say is your favorite part?
- Oh definitely the player development, even though it is not much I like going into my player dev page and ticking stats up a couple times a week. That and the London Royals discord have been an absolute blast.
- I am not sure what it is about changing numbers on my update page but it really does give me a sense of pride and accomplishment (™). There is nothing better than getting a ping on discord that there is a new activity check or weekly training available then going over and adding that TPE to my player.
- What are your long term plans?
- Right now I am kind of just trying to figure everything out. It has been going well. I would eventually like to win a championship for whatever ISFL team drafts me, and maybe take home a DPOY or 2.
- Since I am still wading through the depths of the ISFL this was a tough question. I don’t really have many long term goals right now as I am not sure what to expect of my player. I really just wanted to be part of a good team with a good culture and hopefully get some hardware, and it looks like that goal is going to pay off in San Jose.
- Do you have any preference as to where you would like to be drafted?
- Not at all, I just want to go to a team that is willing to help me out on this journey and eventually give me some playing time.
- It is hard to have a preference when you don’t have the faintest idea what any of the teams are like. I am eternally grateful to the Sabercats for taking a shot on me and I am hoping to make them proud.
- Would you be comfortable staying in the DSFL an extra season if needed?
- Oh yeah for sure, I understand that I need some more time to get tpe. Staying in the DSFL will allow me to build my player up to become the stud that my team needs.
- This was one of the easiest questions that I got asked throughout the scouting process. I knew that my TPE was not very high so I would not be getting called up soon, and the London Royals are a fantastic team to be a part of. Absolutely no problems staying with them for as long as I need to/ as long as the team needs me to.
- What are you looking for in a locker room?
- Really just activity of any kind, I don't want a boring locker room that's silent most of the day. That and some vets that are willing to answer any questions I may have. The pokemon bot would be a nice bonus as well.
- This was a pretty important question to me. Going to a team that had barely any discord activity would have been mind-numbingly boring. So far things seem to be going well in the San Jose locker room. I immediately got an invite to their discord from not only ckroyal, but also Jamar Lackson! Two people! I look forward to getting to know everyone even better.
- Would you say you value team success or individual success first?
- Team success for sure, the group comes before the self. What good is putting up stats if I am sitting at home during the playoffs?
- I have always been a team player. This was another easy question because yeah, individual trophies and stats are cool, but what fun are they if we end up going 4-12 every year? The most important thing for a player is to put his team in the best position to succeed.
- Would you ever be willing to position switch?
- I am 100% down to position switch. I want to put my teammates, my coaches, and my GMs in the best possible spot to win regular season games, playoff games, and ultimately the championship. With that being said, I would prefer to not play on the OL/DL but would be open to playing anywhere else.
- This was, admittedly, a tough question that I feel like I may have turned a couple people off of me. I did not understand position switching at first and did not realize that you could readjust your TPE. My original answer was that I would switch to safety, but after getting the position switching explained to me, that opened up a whole new world of possibilities. I say that I do not want to play on the OL/DL because that is what I actually played in football and I would look for my created player to play something different. Mix it up a bit, you know?
- Would you ever be interested in getting a league job or joining a war room?
- Probably not, I have a pretty busy job and run a madden league on the side that takes up a lot of time so I just do not see myself having the time for it but things change, never know.
- Another tough question because I knew my answer was not what GMs wanted to hear. The reality is that we all have lives outside of this game and unfortunately mine is rather busy right now. I would love to hold a league job eventually but I am just not sure when that will happen, and I did not want to give any GMs a false answer just to improve my stock.
- On a scale from 1-10 how active do you see yourself being in the next 5 seasons?
- Probably around a 7.5-8. I am very active on discord but need to work on being more active on the forums, whether that be posting media/graphics or commenting on other users posts to get my name out there.
- This question was pretty easy. I think anyone in the London locker room can tell you that I am a very active member and pretty easy to get along with.
- If you had to make a guess, where do you think you will get drafted?
- I would guess like the late 3rd maybe? Really not sure. Still new to all this and figuring everything out.
- One of the more interesting questions that was asked to me throughout the draft process. This was really just a shot in the dark since i had no idea how many players were in the draft pool or how the draft worked. Looks like I was pretty close to being right on the money though as I ended up going to the Sabrecats in the middle of the 3rd round!
- Reckon you will ever make enough for equipment?
- Yeah once work calms down I should have more time to spend on media/graphics. Hoping to get there soon.
- I ended up purchasing equipment this year! It’s not much but I was able to get tier 2 equipment for a nice little tpe boost. Hopefully in the future I will be able to become a perennial tier 6 purchaser.
- Are you in any other sim leagues?
- This is my first and only sim league, I am really just getting my feet wet here and seeing what's going on. I love football and this seemed cool so I figured I would give it a shot. I have been having a blast so far with the London Royals.
- Easiest question out of all of them. This is my only sim league and it looks like it’s going to stay that way. Although Ace has been pushing hard for me to join the SHL and I might crack on that soon…
