(Ready to be Graded x1.5 - Draft Media)
Welcome all to dude_man’s reaction to the S28 ISFL Draft rounds 1 and 2! It's great to be back again to be able to give my own kneejerk reactions to the S28 class after going through with this for the S27 DSFL class. As always, this is just my observations, and I wouldn't put too much thought or belief into it. (I'm just here for the money in all honesty) And with that, let's get started.
1.1: Baltimore Hawks select Luke Quick, WR, BigRed1580
The first overall pick from the S27 DSFL Draft ended going up first overall again in this draft. This pick is a given knowing what the Hawks have to do in order to get back to what they were (and should be). BR is a great user on man accounts and there's some history that goes back with them. This is a no-brainer. Grade: A
1.2: Baltimore Hawks select Busch Goose, RB, Infinitempg
With the 2nd overall pick, they select Busch here. Same as the previous pick, this is regarded as a great pick due to Infinite and his reputation within the league (as well as the infinite amount of money he has). With the Hawks locking in on 2 great users in the first 2 picks, that should lead them to a great dynamic duo for the upcoming future. Grade: A
1.3: Orange County Otters select Anton Bruckner, CB, Gragg9
OCO had some critical needs here with the 3rd overall pick, and they went with Anton here. In my internal mock draft, he was my 2nd overall rated CB, so this was a decent pick. He's regarded as a known user and tied with MDM in the awards show this past week. Should be a great pickup for things to come. Grade: B+
1.4: Philadelphia Liberty select Xavier Walls, DE, xtitanxmvpx
Xavier Walls was selected here with the 4th overall pick. As the newly appointed Portland GM, he dreamed of teaming up with Hordle and wanted to be selected here. A great earner, and has been fairly active as of late within the league. This will be a pick Liberty will reap rewards for a long while. Grade: B+
1.5: Arizona Outlaws select Glenn Smart, DE, Pib
Pib has really stood out as a great user from the new users of the league. He is the other user that tied for MDM in the awards show, and he's been terrorizing offenses in the DSFL so far. #1 in my internal board overall, and this is great value here at 5th overall. Grade: A+
1.6: New York Silverbacks select Mongo, DE, MachineEarnedRuns
Mongo was selected here at 6th overall and with ties to certain people within the franchise, it just made too much sense to be drafted by the Silverbacks. He was my #2 rated DE overall, and was a mid 1st in my eyes. So right about what I thought he would be. Grade: A-
1.7: San Jose Sabercats select Juno Hu, CB, j00
My boy j00 was drafted here to replace the legendary Rich Triplet (not saying anything bad here Kotasa, no need to get your lawyer involved), and this was the best choice possible. A max earner, a great and dedicated to almost a fault, he will be an excellent addition for the Sabercats and I wish him nothing but the best. Grade: A Freaking +
1.8: Yellowknife Wraiths select Andrew Warthol, DE, Skorch
Andrew was selected here with the 8th overall pick. Skorch is regarded as a great user and will definitely look to help the Wraiths in the near future. He was #4 on my board for DE, and the run on DL proves how vital they are to the sim. The Wraiths got a good one. Grade: B+
1.9: Berlin Fire Salamanders select Troy Abed, QB, Noanic
With the start of regression for Nick Kaepercolin coming next season, it was wise for Berlin to look for the QB of the future and it looks like Abed is that player for them. A well regarded user around the league, and a solid earner, this looks like this could be a well worthy pick for the Fire Salamanders. Grade: B+
1.10: Chicago Butchers select Dexter Hall, LB, FirstFray
For the Butchers, it was important to go defense with this pick, and they select Hall with this selection. I believe this is a solid pick for them, and FirstFray is a guy that is also a good earner as well. Grade: B+
1.11: Colorado Yeti select Manhattan Project, RB, modern_duke
Can I say first of all how amazing this render is for Manhattan? Like if I could grade this one in itself, it'd be an A+ (no one steal that idea for my next media, I'm copyrighting it). Great job Noanic! As regards to the pick, MD is a very awesome user with solid ties to the franchise, this is a very great pick for the value they got him at. Grade: A
1.12: Honolulu Hahalua select Prof. Godfrey Gravity, DT, user z0rem
One of the highest defensive lineman I had on my imaginary board, this is an amazing pick with the highest potential to work out for them. z0rem is a great user around the league and should he be called up immediately, he'll still make a solid impact in the ISFL during his rookie year. What a great pick. Grade: A+
1.13: New Orleans Second Line select Cade Williams, OL, dude_man
All bias aside, this will go down as the greatest pick in al of ISFL history. dude_man will make sure every single selection before him will feel the wrath for not selecting him.
In all seriousness, this is a very solid pick for Second Line here. As a max earner, I try to make sure I reach that potential I know I'm capable of, and look to help anyone else in the league. I firmly believe this pick will be forever worth it. As I said it when I first entered their LR, I'm looking forward to be on the same line with Offensive Lineman of the Year (OLotY) Adam Mellott, and get to block for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Ben Slothlisberger. Grade: Do I really even need to grade this?
1.14: Baltimore Hawks select Chunt the Badger, WR, UltimateYeehaw
This pick is interesting, and not because of the player, but the fact at where Baltimore is at. I believe this pick is a BAP (Best Available Player) scenario, and so it's interesting. I have no doubt that this will work out, but I wouldn't doubt that it didn't and could have selected someone else 14th overall, especially considering they traded up for Chunt. I think the player is great, but I have to grade it solely on the Hawks. Grade: B-
2.1: Philadelphia Liberty select Romulus Roman, S, Amulos
In my totally unbiased mock, (different from my imaginary mock) this was my 3rd overall pick in the draft. And even more so, Romulus is a beast. I wish nothing but the best for him, and am looking forward to see his success in the ISFL. I'm proud of you buddy! Grade: Tijuan-A+
2.2: Austin Copperheads select Bayley Cowabunga, WR, JKortesi81
The Copperheads finally get in on the draft action with the 16th overall pick in the draft. With this selection, the Copperheads were looking to bring back the Father of Austin. And with a 2nd round pick here, that is a steal given his reputation and bank within the league. Grade: A-
2.3: Orange County Otters select Bender Rodriguez, TE, Shrub02
This pick here is pretty decent for the Otters. Shrub is a great user, and earns well, but the value of TE in this league is very inconsistent. So I'm not sure if it's worth a 2nd round pick. Should be interesting to see how it pans out. Grade: B
2.4: Sarasota Sailfish select Stumpy Jones, OL, user FootballIsCool
In my honest opinion, FIC is the #1 overall pick in my board mostly because of him earning the most in this class and his sweet new podcasts he's posting. Sarasota got a steal here and I'm jealous he has more TPE than me as an OL, so it's hard to admit defeat in regards to that. Grade: A+
2.5: Berlin Fire Salamanders select Dexter Zaylren, QB, Laser
So remember how I said that the Fire Salamander selected their QB of the future in the 1st pick? Yeah just kidding, Zaylren would be their QB of the future selection (or will he?). Laser is a very well regarded user in the league, basically an OG at this point, and this pick as a player is great! The team selection however, is not. Grade: B-
2.6: New Orleans Second Line select Remus Roman, RB, Vaelynn
So I get to play with both of the Roman twins in my career (that sounds weird), and I'm looking forward to working with Vaelynn. Another great new user, this pick will be great for Second Line. Also Vaelynn, you're cooler, but don't tell your brother. Grade: A+
2.7: Baltimore Hawks select Makoa Mahi'ai, TE, King Jellyfish
As I had mentioned earlier, the usefulness of the TE position is inconsistent in DDSPF21 to truly gauge how valuable they are in the ISFL. I'll reserve my judgement though, and say this is a solid pick. Especially now that this is a mid 2nd round pick compared to an early 2nd. Grade: B
2.8: Yellowknife Wraiths select Erik Gaare, RB, Maupassant
I can attest that this dude was a terror against Tijuana in the conference championship game. He's a solid user and has been consistently earning. Should be worth the mid 2nd round pick here for the Wraiths. Grade: B+
2.9: Orange County Otters select Sam... Um, yeah just Sam, WR, Duili005
Orange County selects Sam here with 9th pick in the Second Round. A very solid user and earner, this is a great value pick for the Otters and should be a key part in the near future for them. Grade: A-
2.10: Chicago Butchers select Tim Soulja, S, Painted
I actually don't know much about Painted, but he looks to be earning pretty well for the S position. The Butchers are obviously trying to build up the defense, and I believe this to be a solid pick for them, I may have gone with someone else, but I get the pick nonetheless. Grade: B-
2.11: Colorado Yeti select Cole Maxwell, S, Alcott
So this is what I was envisioning before as far as who I thought should have gone earlier. Cole is one of the higher earning Safeties in the league, and I believe that the Yeti got a great value from where they drafted. Grade: A
2.12: Honolulu Hahalua select Raeni Clarke, QB, Bex
I don't think I'm allowed to say anything bad. Bex is literally my boss. If I go IA after this, you know why...
But in all seriousness, Bex is awesome and is a welcome addition to Honolulu. Basically able to max earn at will, she will do great things for them in the future as she continues to kill it in Norfolk for the time being. Just hopefully not Tijuana. Grade: A
2.13: New Orleans Second Line select Ishe... Reallyinvisible, QB, JPach
Man, just another amazing render this time from Moosey. What an amazing job guys!
Another Luchadore is drafted here to continue the pipeline of TIJ-NOLA. JPach is a long time user and a former Second Line player. This was truly a legacy pick, and will obviously bode well for them in the near future after the great Ben Slothlisberger retires. Grade: A
2.14: Sarasota Sailfish select Kelvin Harris, S, Astrophy058
Here's another example of a pick I'm not sure was the wisest choice, but at this point I'm just an armchair GM, and most of my opinions have been super lame. I think this will work fairly well for them though in the long haul, I just believe there was far better talent left on the board. Grade: B-
So that covers it for the Rounds 1-2 ISFL Draft Reaction for Season 28. I may do a podcast for the rest of the class just talking about my initial reactions and stuff (no promises though). This draft reaction was all in good fun, and please don't put much into what I say (even though Tijuana and New Orleans are the best and everyone else is stinky). Anyways, thanks for reading!
