Round 1
Pick 1: Baltimore Hawks Luke Quick (WR) - KCC
This was pretty much a lock with the news of Luke Quick possibly holding out or asking for a trade if he wasn’t selected before the Goose. I think a lot of the good mockers really knew this was happening. A select few mockers, maybe one, didn’t put him here but not everyone can be a great mocker. (smirk; jk you know who you are) A+
Pick 2: Baltimore Hawks Busch Goose (RB) - KCC
Another locked in pick for many here, the Goose was the second pick for Baltimore and this is a piece that will help them build their offense in a year or two to one that their Front Office hopes can lead them to wins. A+
Pick 3: Orange County Otters Anton Bruckner (CB) - MIN
This was a huge shocker here as I had not heard that Orange County really had contact with Gragg9. Even Gragg9 himself didn’t project himself here, but you can’t argue with the Otter’s thought process in taking one of the top prospects in this draft (even if his mocking skills lack in comparison to my own). This is the first pick of the draft for OCO and I think they did a good job overall in this draft. A+
Pick 4: Philadelphia Liberty Xavier Walls (LB) - POR
I predicted this and stated it (somewhat) as a joke. I’m not positive I was number one on the Liberty’s list here, but with Gragg9 gone they selected me with confidence. I loved their locker room and got along really well with alot of the folks in there. The Liberty didn’t go wrong with their pick here as they will have a linebacker that will be coming up sooner rather than later and will be a high tpe level competitor along with a user that will bring lots of media and contributions to the team. A+
Pick 5: TRADE Berlin Fire Salamanders to Arizona Outlaws Glenn Smart (DE) - LON
Arizona didn’t have much draft capital in this draft but they knew their target and they went and got their man here. Pib (Glenn Smart) is definitely a user to go up and get in order to anchor your defense. I believe this was a great play by the Outlaws as there are not many elite Defensive End talents and Smart is the smart choice here. A+
Pick 6: New York Silverbacks Mongo (DE) - BBB
As I mentioned in the previous pick, the elite defensive ends in this draft are in low supply. Mongo is definitely one of those and New York makes a great pick here in similar fashion to Arizona. They anchor their defensive front with a user that isn’t afraid to contribute. Good start here for NYS. A+
Pick 7 San Jose Sabercats Juno Hu (CB) - TIJ
The funniest part of where I put Juno Hu in my original mock was that I knew it get him fired up. In all accounts, J00 is a fire cracker of a user that is very passionate about his player and team. San Jose knew what they were doing with this pick and they will have a top secondary defender for years to come. Great scouting on this one! A+
Pick 8 Yellowknife Wraiths Andrew Warthol - (DE) YKW
Mocks are very hard to do as we see here already there has been a trade that shook things up a bit. The Wraiths picking up the last one of the big three defensive ends here is a great pick up and I think they’ll be happy with what Skorch brings to the table. I’m a big fan of Skorch and I think he’ll get some awards at some point with the Wraiths. A+
Pick 9 TRADE Arizona Outlaws to Berlin Fire Salamanders Troy Abed - (QB) KCC
Quarterbacks went much earlier than I expected in this draft, however, I did get the order of quarterbacks coming off the board pretty efficiently. Troy Abed goes here to Berlin who traded back. I’m not sure if he’s their quarterback of the future or if he’s position swapping, but they get a great locker room guy and a real team player with this pick. Berlin definitely needed a quarterback, however, I’m not sure they needed to reach this early. Due to the user though and possible switching of positions, I do still think this is a good pick with the draft capital they got back with it. A
Pick 10 Chicago Butchers Dexter Hall (LB) - KCC
I 100% thought Dexter Hall would be going to Orange County at the beginning of this draft, but as I said earlier there was a shocker of a pick above. That pick led to Chicago snatching up one of the really awesome users of this draft and a great addition to their linebacking core. Firstfray really fits with the theme of the branding and he will be a hardnose butcher for them. I still believe we will be fighting each other for awards and accolades throughout our careers and he might even come and play with me someday. A+
Pick 11 Colorado Yeti Manhattan Project (RB) - LON
I wasn’t sure that Colorado needed a runningback here? I know the user is phenomenal and that very well could be the reasoning here. Either way, my mock was based around positional need primarily and I think the Yeti could have still gotten Modern_Duke in the second round. B+
Pick 12 Honolulu Hahalua Prof. Godfrey Gravity (DT) - KCC
This one kind of just fell into Honolulu’s lap. Z0rem is a great user and his player has been nothing but stellar already in his young career at the dsfl level. This dude is gonna plug up the middle of the Hahalua’s line for years to come and expect him to throw those sack numbers in as well. Z0rem will also contribute to the team on so many levels that this pick is just insane value this late in the first round. A+
Pick 13 New Orleans Secondline Cade Williams (OT) - TIJ
I think every team needs offensive lineman with how the cap and salary numbers line up with bots and all that silly stuff. NOLA gets a damned good one here though as Dude_man is a freaking rockstar. I’ve heard from his team mates that he’s a dope locker room presence and he produces media on top of all of that. He will protect Slothlisberger really well. Good pick NOLA! A
Pick 14 TRADE Sarasota Sailfish to Baltimore Hawks Chunt the Badger (WR) - DAL
Baltimore, man...seriously I think they had half of the draft in their back pocket throughout the night. They get another absolute stud on the offense here with Ultimateyeehaw. Coming off a season in which she broke multiple offensive records and had multiple awards, Chunt slides on over to a Baltimore team that is in full rebuild mode. Alongside the Goose and Luke Quick now, she will look to continue her success at the ISFL level. Great value at the back end of the 1st round. A+
Round 2
Pick 15: Philadelphia Liberty Romulus Roman (SS) - TIJ
This pick had me so excited I was freaking out at my keyboard! I’m close friends with Amulos and his brother Vaelynn and when I saw the Liberty took Romulus alongside myself I was practically hyperventilating. You’ll see shortly where my disappointment comes in. Seriously though, i think Philly got their hands on two of the best users in the draft here with this pick and myself. Amulos takes pride in his player and the league, really pushing himself to get TPE and complete tasks. He also goes above and beyond trying to find jobs and do other things to help his team in Tijuana. As this draft continues you’ll see just how freaking star-studded of a draft this was for the Liberty. A+
Pick 16: Austin Copperheads Bayley Cowabunga (WR) - DAL
Hey J! I’ll get your damned name right this time huh!? I apologize in my mock I seemed to refer to JKortesi’s player as if Bayley was the user. JKortesi was a major part of the Copperheads back in the hayday and this match here at the start of the second round seemed destined to happen. They get an obviously involved user and a pretty damn nice person from my interactions with them. Austin didn’t overly need a wideout so early, but the loyalty here makes a lot of sense. A
Pick 17: Orange County Otters Bender Rodriguez (TE) - MIN
Orange County surprises me again by taking Bender (aka Shrub) one pick ahead of where I thought he’d go. They did need a tight end and this makes a lot of sense with how good of a user Shrub is. They continue their solid draft selections and bring Shrub back together with Gragg9 here again as Otters. A
Pick 18: TRADE Baltimore Hawks to Sarasota Sailfish Stumpy Jones (OL) - POR
I realllllllly like what Sarasota did in this draft and with their trade back here they still get their man in Stumpy Jones. The Offensive Lineman of the Year at the dsfl level and overall tpe leader of the class goes to a team that just came off an Ultimus win. Footballiscool is more than a pancake artist though and he will bring a very experienced and personable sense to the Sailfish locker room. This adds to a very successful Sailfish draft. A+
Pick 19: Berlin Fire Salamanders Dexter Zaylren (QB) - BBB
You know, Berlin does need a quarterback so they took their second one of the draft here. At first glance, this blows my mind. However, there has to be more than meets the eye here as any sane GM wouldn’t want to stir the future up with a draft in which they take two...possibly more, quarterbacks in a draft.Until I see otherwise, I don’t favor the pick up of both Abed and Laser here. I was correct in my assumption that Laser would go to Berlin and I know the user was pretty keen on playing quarterback. We’ll wait and see what happens but for now…. C+
Pick 20: New Orleans Secondline Remus Roman (RB) - POR
The Secondline really killed me here. Vaelynn is a great user and a very personable guy and I think he’ll do great in this spot, however, his brother and I were giddy that Philly would pull some crazy trade up to get all three of us and assemble the super team. It wasn’t in the cards though and instead NOLA gets a bright, future star here with this pick. F- (give him back to us)
Pick 21: Baltimore Hawks Makoa Mahi’ai (TE) - LON
Baltimore takes their tight end of the future here with this pick as they currently had none on their roster. King Jellyfish is a great user and he will definitely bring consistency to a rebuilding team along with the other superstar offensive weapons that the Hawks have brought in. A
Pick 22: Yellowknife Wraiths Erik Gaare (RB) - DAL
I thought Gaare would be going somewhere around here in the draft due to the user being just so good. Maupassant will do a great job for the Wraiths in this position and I think the Wraiths made a smart choice scooping him up here as I don’t think he would have passed by many/ if any of the next teams. A
Pick 23: Orange County Otters Sam the Onion Man (WR) - NOR
Sam is a great guy and he’s consistent as a player. Orange County gets the receiver they needed although a bit later than I thought they would take one. I’m happy for Duilio to go someplace he’ll have a really great shot at starting. OCO gets a great role model in the locker room and I’m sure he’ll do a great job on the field for them in the future. A
Pick 24: Chicago Butchers Tim Soulja (SS) - MIN
The Butchers add a great piece to their secondary here with Painted. Painted is a user I’ve heard a lot about and they really add a good personality to any locker room they’re in. As one of the Gragg9 three, Painted has a group he’ll stay active with and I really think he’ll be a staple of the Butchers for years to come. Good pick here at this point! A
Pick 25: Colorado Yeti Cole Maxwell (FS) - DAL
Alcott is one of the few people I haven’t had much interactions with, but Colorado spoke highly of them from their scouting interviews. Colorado obviously saw something in him that they really liked and they pluck him up with their second round pick here. I do think as a safety he would have been available to them later, but it looks like they wanted to stockpile secondary picks.
Pick 26: Honolulu Hahalua Raeni Clarke (QB) - NOR
Bex is the DSFL Commissioner and as such she’s incredibly involved in the league. This is a great pick for a team that will be needing a future quarterback that will 100% earn and be active. I don’t think there’s a single argument with this pick here and the Hahalua get all the boxes checked on this one. A
Pick 27: New Orleans Secondline IsHe…..ReallyInvisible - TIJ
Another one of those users that is a big part of the league already and is established as a lock to produce and earn. Secondline was another team in need of a quarterback of the future and they get a really great one with this pick. Again, these quarterbacks are going a bit earlier than I expected, but they are not bad picks at these positions by any means (except possibly Berlin’s). A
Pick 28: Sarasota Sailfish Kelvin Harris (SS) - NOR
Gene seems like a great dude (also Astrophy058) and I think Sarasota took a little bit of a flyer here. There are quite a few users still available I’d rank over Gene just because of his lower tpe, but Sarasota seemed confident in the selection of the safety. We’ll see what they do with him and if position switching was somewhat involved here? Only the future will tell… B-
Round 3
Pick 29: Philadelphia Liberty CJ Sonjack (CB) - LON
Philly keeps freaking slaying this draft in epic fashion. CJ Sonjack is one of the top cornerbacks in this draft and I think it’s absolutely insane that he dropped to Philly here. I can just see the Philly war room now, “Hmm, who do we have?” “Uh CJ Sonjack?” “No he can’t still be there….HOLY SHIT!”. Likely the fastest shipped in pick in the league’s history. If I could give a grade higher than A+ I would but seriously...what a draft. A+
Pick 30: Austin Copperheads Daniel O’Leary (DT) - MIN
Mango, my dude, is a great user and I’ve joked with him since the prospect bowl. The Copperheads get a great user along with one of the last defensive lineman with consistent tpe earning here. Austin didn’t start with a whole lot of draft capital, but they are making good use of what they do have. A
Pick 31: TRADE Orange County Otters to Sarasota Sailfish Saleem Spence (WR) - (POR)
Sarasota in similar fashion to Philly here, looks at the draft board and goes, “Oh snap...let’s make a trade?” Everyone then nods their heads in unison and the Sailfish call up Orange County. Saleem Spence dropping this far in the draft just bambozzles me. Sarasota takes advantage of it though and they will have an absolute STUD in years to come here. Great way to take initiative and go out and get one of the few remaining elite prospects here. A+
Pick 32: Philadelphia Liberty Lonnie Jackson (RB) - TIJ
This pick is a dirty, filthy steal. Someone call the police because Philly gets yet another bomb pick up here with their second pick of the third round. Exilate is a rockstar user and he brings experience to the table. Coming on super strong late in the season, Exilate very well should have been a first or second round pick if he had started from the very start of the last off-season. Philly’s draft is just so complete at this point and crazily enough, they aren’t even done yet. A+
Pick 33: Berlin Fire Salamanders Logan Anderson (DE) - POR
Cklues was a user who came in late to this season and was claimed by the Pythons. He switched into the defensive end spot I was playing and I switched back to playing linebacker. Cklues hit the ground running and really would have been much higher than this position if he had started at the dsfl draft. I think this is a great pick up for Berlin here. A
Pick 34: New York Silverbacks Deandre Chuggs (LB) - MIN
XQCFamous came out of nowhere to go crazy as a linebacker for the Ducks and drops here mostly because his TPE is lower. One of only a few linebackers earning consistently in this draft Chuggs would have gone much earlier had he been around the whole season from the draft. A
Pick 35: San Jose Sabercats Willie MIller (CB) - LON
Sebster has been much more active lately and his lower TPE here shouldn’t be something to worry about. I think Sebster will be a great addition for San Jose here and with a couple seasons down I think he will fill in perfectly for the Sabercats when they call on him. A
Pick 36: TRADE Yellowknife Wraiths to Baltimore Hawks David Ramczyk (OL) - TIJ
I think this is the first pick of Baltimore’s that I kind of question. Round 3 and for what was offered, I just think that Ramcyzk would have been available later on for them and they could have gotten a solid defensive player in this spot. B-
Pick 37: TRADE Arizona Outlaws to Berlin Fire Salamanders Jacob Raske (QB) - MIN
So Berlin has this spot from Arizona earlier in the draft in a trade, but yet again they take a quarterback with this pick. I know CLG announced they will switch positions kind of close to the draft sp that makes it better to understand, but this is a lot of balancing and switching around for a draft that had a lot of players at the positions Berlin needed. I highly rate this pick because of the user here, but Berlin’s draft strategy has been confusing so far. A+
Pick 38: San Jose Saberkitties Red Arrow Jr. (QB) - LON
Red Arrow Jr. getting drafted here is kind of par for the course of this draft and San Jose gets a crazy deal here. A great earner and a great user, this pick is just what San Jose needed to continue their sneaky good selections throughout this draft. Look for Red Arrow to fill in well as his number is called for the ISFL level. A+
Pick 39: Colorado Yeti Amy Wong (CB) - NOR
As I said earlier, Colorado seemed to be stacking up their secondary picks here. Amy Wong is a very solid pick at this level and their earning is on par to be called up as long as they max earn in the near future. I’m not 100% on their activity level of late, but as long as they stay consistent I think Colorado has a decently valued pick here. B+
Pick 40: Austin Copperheads Siege Cameron (CB) - KCC
A lower TPE cornerback in CJ here, but overall if he can continue to be active and earn, similar to Amy Wong above I think this will turn out to be a good value pick for Austin. I know a few of the Austin locker room and if anyone can bring people back to being active it’s them. B+
Pick 41: New Orleans Secondline Taipan Pete (RB) - LON
This pick was really based off of common relations I think. Taipan seems a quiet person and that might be a perfect fit for the NOLA locker room? The earning needs to improve if Thatguy wants to start in the coming years, but at this point I think NOLA just took a flyer here and hopes they get the user active more. B-
Pick 42: TRADE Sarasota Sailfish to Orange County Otters Dallas Dole (K/P) - DAL
The last pick that I’m reviewing here, the Orange County Otters pick up their kicker and punter of the future in Dallas Dole. What can I say? If you need a kicker go for a kicker. Dallas seems to have been reasonably active and I don’t think it’d take much of a push to get them earning a bit more. Overall this is a decent pick for their needs. *shrug* B+
*Overall Draft Grades*
Baltimore Hawks: A; Overall Baltimore selected a plethora of offensive, explosive players as stage one of their rebuild. The only question I had was the trade up for Ramcyzk in the third and that brings them to an A.
Orange County Otters: B+; They got a bonafide superstar in Anton Bruckner and got two extremely solid picks after in Sam and Bender, but after this their picks fall off with the selection of two punters/kickers and various inactives.
Philadelphia Liberty: A+; This may seem biased, but even if they hadn’t selected me this would have been an extremely enviable draft haul. Myself in the first, Romulus Roman in the second, and CJ Sonjack/Lonnie Jackson in the third then followed by Rudy Gray in the fourth. This is a draft class that will be a foundation of Philly for years to come, mark my words.
Arizona Outlaws: A; For what Arizona had in draft capital, they did very well for themselves. They got a phenomenal talent in Glenn Smart and then filled needs with later picks by scooping up a sneaky good Brooks Bane.
New York Silverbacks: B+; Another team with few draft picks, New York hits a homer with their first two picks in Mongo and Deandre Chuggs but have questionable returns after that.
San Jose Sabercats: A; San Jose nabs a couple really great secondary pieces and a future quarterback in this draft. Juno Hu is the catalyst to a locker room and the rest of their picks fill their needs well.
Yellowknife Wraiths: B+; Their first two picks in Warthol and Erik Gaare are defining, but they really don’t get much value after that in this draft.
Berlin Fire Salamanders: C+; Until I see what pans out from this quarterback conundrum I think the Fire Salamanders just made more headache for themselves than they benefit. Abed is a great first pick and Laser would have been a great pick in a vacuum, and CLG would be considered a steal; however, all being throwers really makes me wonder what’s going on behind the scenes there.
Chicago Butchers: B+; The Butchers made the most of their only two picks in the first 4 rounds. Dexter Hall is a generational talent and Tim Soulja (Painted) is a smashmouth pickup. Both of these users will maintain a great culture in the locker room as well, but after them the Butchers didn’t get much else.
Colorado Yeti: B; The Yeti really went HARD on secondary here, but I feel like they could have been much more efficient with their picks? Manhattan is a great pick and I think he will definitely help the team, but when. Cole Maxwell is a great pick to solidify their backend secondary, but after this there’s questions with activity and such. Lux could be a sneaky good pick?
Honolulu Hahalua: A; With only two picks in the first four rounds, the Hahalua really make the most of them with taking Godfrey Gravity and Raeni Clarke. Both these players will have major lasting effects on this team going forward.
New Orleans Secondline: F...jk, A-; The Secondline get a trio of great users out of the top end of this draft in Dude_man, Vaelynn, and JPach. These three guys will have an impact at the next level and I think they fit the bill for NOLA here. Their late round picks are questionable, but their first three make up for it.
Austin Copperheads: A; Austin didn’t have a first rounder, but they made due with what they did have. They lead off with JKortesi in the 2nd and then went on to draft some sneaky good picks. Getting Chat Smith in the 4th is a steal and I’m sure Austin was ecstatic to get him there.
Sarasota Sailfish: A+; Sarasota was the other team I think really nailed this draft. They traded out of the first round to get another pick and still got a first round talent in Stumpy Jones, then they got Gene to fill out their secondary. After that it they somehow manage to get Saleem Spence in the third round. Having two of the top tpe earners in the class is insane and getting them without a first pick is even more crazy. Good job Sailerfishies.
