Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen to by far the most exciting part of the ISFL schedule - The DSFL draft.
Some of you may be thinking, "hihihi the ISFL draft is the most exciting part of the season" or "hihihi Ultimus week is way more exciting than this" ...well let me tell you that if you think that way you're wrong and you should be embarrassed in yourself.
It's DSFL draft time so GET FIRED UP BABY, YEOOW.
I've gone ahead and done about 3 and a half minutes of research into this years incredibly talented draft class to provide y'all with a can't miss mock draft - and that's coming from a guy who is 2-4 in Ultimus games and 0-2 in Ultimini games as a user. Let's get into it:
1. Norfolk Seawolves : The question on everyone's mind coming into this draft is who will Norfolk take number one overall? Although the draft is loaded with high quality re-creates I believe this one comes down to two names : Jay Cue Jr and Dante King. Both are Running Backs, both are re-creates from very active users and both played for Norfolk post trade deadline last season. So, how do they choose? They could flip a coin but I think the answer is far more obvious.... Shadyshoelace has never won an Ultimini but OperaPhantom has. Jay Cue Jr comes from Ultimini winning pedigree and will work hard to lead Norfolk back to the top of that mountain.
Pick : Jay Cue JR - RB - OperaPhantom - 161 TPE
2. Bondi Beach Buccaneers: Listen, Prior to writing this media piece I had no idea where in the world Bondi Beach was but after Googling it, it looks like a wonderful spot and I very much plan on taking a vacation there once the pandemic is done. Enough about me and my future vacation plans though, you guys came here to find out who will be heading down under. I think there's plenty of high quality options left on the board at this slot but with the number two pick in this years DSFL mock draft the Buccaneers will be taking the guy Norfolk passed on - RB Dante King. King comes from one of the top users in the league and is guaranteed to be a max earner. As an added bonus the user behind Dante King is a fantastic person and will be a great addition to the teams Locker Room.
Pick: Dante King - RB - Shadyshoelace - 163 TPE
3. London Royals: I'll say it, the Royals have the best branding in the DSFL and quite frankly I have my fingers crossed that by some miracle I end up getting drafted there so I can make one of the many talented individuals in this league make me a sig with that branding. Unfortunately I don't think that will happen though, so which direction will the Royals go here? I feel like a bit of a loser because I read @Drizzy Mock Draft right before writing my own and up until this point it looks like I'm just copy pasting him. That trend is going to continue here because I agree with him that with the number three pick the Royals will be the first team in the draft to select a defensive players selecting the highest TPE earning defender available at this point in LB Marcus Jones. Jones comes from a proven user and is sure to make an immediate impact in the upcoming season.
Pick: Marcus Jones - LB - Drizzy - 162 TPE
4. Minnesota Grey Ducks: With three of the big boys now off the board where do the Grey Ducks go from here? Well lucky for them the draft board is still loaded with high quality prospects and if you ask me the Grey Ducks are probably salivating at the fact the prospect at the the top of their board is still available at number four. In my very unbiased opinion and to some peoples surprise the best player in this entire draft is still available at this slot and Minnesota wastes no time running up to the podium to select WR Quinton Crash here. Crash played for the Grey Ducks post trade deadline last season and already has chemistry with some of the returning players on the team.
Pick: Quinton Crash - WR - hihihi_62 - 161 TPE
5. Tijuana Luchadores: At number five the Luchadores war room looks at each in shock as the top earning prospect in the draft thus far is still sitting in his residence waiting to be drafted. The first non-recreate to be drafted in this draft, Chevvy Bronko, comes off the board here. This guy has been an earning machine since joining the league in late February and it's always super exciting to see a new user so engaged in the league. Bronko adds some much needed fire power to the Luchadores offence and rumour has it Bronko hydrates with Tequila on the sideline instead of water or Gatorade so he will fit right in with the team here.
Pick: Chevvy Bronko - TE - musha6570 - 164 TPE
6. Portland Pythons: Controversial opinion - the Pythons old branding was way cooler. Now that I've offended someone, somewhere I better make sure to mention that I love the Pyhtons and spent two great seasons there with my last player so they'll always have a spot in my heart <3. Now back to business, who does Portland take with the number six pick? Do the Pythons need a QB? I honestly have no idea because I only did the bare minimum research for this but I'm a firm believer in taking the best player available and as a result of that school of thought the Pythons get a great one at this spot and select Gimmy Jaroppolo Jr. Once again Jaroppolo Jr is a re-create coming from a proven user who is very active on the Forum. The Pythons have a track record for developing Hall of Fame calibre QBs (See Armstrong and Cue for reference) and I believe that Jaropplo Jr has the potential to be the next one in that line of greats.
Pick: Gimmy Jaroppolo JR - QB - FrckNasty - 147 TPE
7. Kansas City Coyotes: This one is a tough one for me. I didn't do enough research to know exactly what the Coyotes needs are but there is still a couple of studs left on the board. Do they go QB and select Oles Jr? Do they go TE and select Marston? What about a young talented CB in Lip Gallagher? Although those are all interesting options in this slot I think the Coyotes shore up their O-Line in this spot and select Sir Peter Jackson with the seventh overall selection. Jackson comes from yet another proven user and will be an immediate plug and play player for the Coyotes.
Pick: Sir Peter Jackson - OL - ddrector - 147 TPE
8. Dallas Birddogs: With the final selection of the first round the world is the Birddogs oyster. They are coming off of an impressive season and will be looking to continue their dominance. Fortunately for them there is still plenty of talent left on the board. With that being said the rich keep on getting richer here and with the eighth overall selection the Birddogs select the second defender and second new user in the draft by selecting the up and coming CB, Lip Gallagher. Anyone who has spent any time in this league knows that there is a ton of value in defensive secondary players in this league and now that I think more about it, it would not surprise me in the least if Gallagher goes higher than this in the actual draft. There's a couple of players still available in this slot with higher overall TPE but I think the value of a CB outweighs the value of total TPE in this slot.
Pick: Lip Gallagher - CB - fever95 - 124 TPE
And with that we have completed my first round mock draft. Needless to say I can't wait to see how wrong I am come come draft night.
