You may have been waiting for this, you may have not even known that this was a project that was in progress, but either way, I am really happy that we were able to get this set, and release the first part of our all time GM rankings. For those of you that didn't see my last article/didn't listen to the podcast I did which gave a small update, myself and 6 other users went together and ranked who we thought the top thirty GMs were. From there in order from top to bottom in each ranking, you got 30 points for being first in a ranking, 29 for second, and etc, till all the values were added up together for our rankings. I can't speak for the other people, but for my personal rankings, I looked at how the GM did in comparison to the seasons before they took over, and to see how much they improved by. GMs that started off in horrible situations, like the Las Vegas Legion, from a while ago, and the Chicago Butchers, which are more recent, got rewarded for being to successfully rebuild the team. At the beginning, I knew that it would be a tough challenge to rank, but when you actually sit down to start, it becomes even harder to rank the GMs. We started right after the Ultimus with data collection, and took around 2 weeks to finish it all up, and eventually finished everyone's ranking yesterday. From then, Numbers and I have been trying to format information and write up write-ups so that way the presentation will be nice, and we can recognize all the great GMs of the league.
Pretty simple, we will go down the list, first off we have the name and how many seasons they Gmed each team, then we have their record from every single season that they GMed for, then the combined stats of regular season all time wins, playoff all times wins, both with %s, as well as the trophy case, with Ultimus wins and GMotYs. Finally we end with all the votes they recieved, NR meaning that they did not get a vote from one of the people. The ranks are listed in order from highest to lowest, so don't try to figure out who voted for who smh.

Alright let’s get right into it. First, a short introduction about the voters...
Voter Biographies
Siddhus
HON GM S25-
One of the two current GMs that was part of the voting panel, siddhus is one of the newer members in comparison to everyone else, joining the league in S17. Being the one who gathered all the data though, helped him figure out and learn more about each GM.
124715
KCC GM S3-S10
POR GM S16
Numbers is the only member on the panel who has not spent time as an ISFL GM, but hopes his long time in the league can make up for his lack of GMing experience. In ranking, he weighted improvement over all other measures. He used a metric called improvement-adjusted wins, referenced throughout the article, which refers approximately to wins in a season plus the number of wins in improvement compared to last season, and improvement-adjusted win percentage - improvement-adjusted wins per game. He also paid little consideration to the GM/co-GM designation.
Nunccoepi
BAL GM S14-S17
You might know him as someone who was more known for his DSFL GMing along with fellow Luchador legend, iseedoug. However, he has plenty of ISFL GMing experience as well with the Baltimore Hawks. He is part of DSFL HO and a member of the HoF voting committee, so he is familiar with the vast majority of these names from experience and has been in the league since S6. He put weight in the stats, but also tried to take into account some of the other “intangibles” of GMing, especially as they related to making the league a better place.
Manicmav
BAL GM S8-S12
Manicmav was someone who has been in the league since Season 2, and provided the veteran expierence to the voting commitee, being available to answer any questions about the early days of GMing. He is also a member of the HoF voting committee which makes it his job to be educated on these GMs, and is also a member of the GM HoF.
Laser
OCO GM S18-S26
Laser chose to vote by putting heavy weight into Hall of Fame members and those he thinks should be in the Hall of Fame as GMs. He ranked GMs by not only the visible stats, but also intangibles such as free agency success, levelheadedness, locker room culture, and other things.
Mithrandir
NOLA GM S26-
The other current GM, mithrandir has been involved wit projects all over the league, including most recently the stats compiling for the season 27 ISFL season. Mithrandir is also the creator of the points system you can find on the spreadsheet, so has some good experience ranking the GMs/
Speculadora
OCO GM S8-S19
speculadora is an incredibly attractive and super jacked former ISFL GM. As a member of the GM Hall of Fame he is incredibly qualified to share his unsolicited opinions on various league matters. He voted based on who sent him the most bitcoins
Any good rankings has to start with some honorable mentions. These will include anyone that received more than 1 point during the process, but were not able to make it to the top 30 list.

We start off the ranking with 4d chess, the GM with arguably the most impressive record out of all the GMs. With only five losses over 3 seasons, in a stretch that included 2 Ultimus’ and 2 GMotY with Arizona, no one can really do better. Only reason 4d drops is because of being GM during the controversy with multis in Arizona, while also being the fact that Co-GMs did not have as prominent roles back in the early stages in the league. So, despite having a very good record, the credit may lie more with Dwyer, the head GM for the team. Despite that, it makes sense that he did not miss this ranking, and should still be considered a top GM.

Our first current GM that makes it onto the list, one of the Yellowknife GMs, so quick into his tenure, was able to secure an Ultimus Win in Season 26. Managing an undefeated playoff record, as well as a regular season record well over .500, Pmoney's statistics have been building up, and Yellowknife looks like a strong team under him and flyeaglesfly. He has a 67% improvement-adjusted win percentage, which is almost 12% more than his regular win%. He is entering his fifth season as the Wraiths co-GM, and we look forward to seeing him rise in the list, as the seasons go by.

PDXBaller is a name that newer users might not recognize, as he is currently inactive in the league, but his impact should not be lowered. PDX managed the Liberty in the tail end of their build from expansion team to Ultimus winner. During his time as GM, the Liberty won three playoff games and appeared in two Ultimi, winning one, and were named GMotY. While his tenure was relatively short, PDX did not have a single losing season as GM.

BigRed comes in next, our second Yellowknife GM to make the list already. With a win percentage just over 68%, Yellowknife was able to secure a playoff appearance every season but one in his five season tenure and he did not record a single losing season as GM. While not being able to secure an Ultimus, he was able to make it to two Ultimus games in his last two seasons, unfortunately falling to the Orange County Otters twice. Despite this, he built up the foundation of the team that ended up winning the Ultimus just a few seasons later under his co-GM shadyshoelace.

Muford is one of the recent step downs, as well as someone who has managed two different teams - the San Jose Sabercats and the Chicago Butchers (twice!). Starting off in San Jose, from Season 3-7, while not having the strongest of tenures, Muford was able to get three winning seasons with the team and a GMotY award, but was unable to accomplish anything in the postseason. Muford's tenure as Chicago GM began almost ten seasons after the conclusion of his Sabercats stint. Along with Oles, his expansion Butchers came right out the gate strong with a 10-3 record. While the team did not do well after he left, he made his return to the Butchers management in Season 22, where he tried to fix the mess that had since happened there. While Chicago could not achieve an Ultimus win, Muford earned a second GMotY during the process, with the team’s record improving every season. His improvement-adjusted win percentage is 61.3%, an impressive 11% above his true record. He built the Butchers to the point where they were getting consistent playoff appearances and looking like a real competitor. After stepping down last season, the team remains in a very good spot for the upcoming season.
25. @sakrosankt*
Team(s): Sarasota Sailfish Co-GM (S24-PRESENT)
--------------------------------------------
SAR S24: 12-4 (1-1 playoffs)

Regular Season Record: 43-21-0 (67.19%)
Playoffs Record: 4-3 (57.14%)
Trophy Case: 1 GMotY, 1 Ultimus
--------------------------------------------
Rankings: 21, 25, 25, 25, 26, 27, NR
Points: 37
--------------------------------------------
Another one of the GMs that managed an expansion team early in the franchise history, while not a founder, sakrosant had a big impact on the Sarasota Sailfish team that just won their first Ultimus along with the GMotY award in Season 27. With a sparkling 43-21 regular season record and an arguably more impressive 79.7% improvement-adjusted win rate, he took over Sarasota, and along with Frostbite, was able to build the team into a contender that continues to improve every single season. While being very high in the statistics points calculations, sakro drops purely due to joining the team in their prime, but with a strong Season 28, his stock will just be rising as the seasons go along. He is also our second GM that is still currently GMing, and we look forward to seeing what else the Sailfish can do under him.
24. @Revolution5
Team(s): Orange County Otters Co-GM (S20-S23)

OCO S20: 7-6 (0-1 playoffs)

Regular Season Record: 38-17-0 (69.09%)
Playoffs Record: 1-4 (20.00%)
Trophy Case: N/A
--------------------------------------------
Rankings: 15, 17, 24, 29, 30, NR, NR
Points: 40
--------------------------------------------
The first of many Orange County Otters GMs that will end up on this list, Revolution was their Co-GM from Season 20-23, where in his four seasons, was able to average 9.5 wins a season. Revolution was one of the controversial GMs, not appearing on multiple lists, but also being ranked as high as 15th on another. While not having anything in the trophy case, Revolution had many successful seasons with Orange County during the regular season, but was unfortunately not able to finish it off when it counted in the playoffs. He had an almost 75% improvement rate during his tenure as well, as compared to his 69% regular win rate.

Chicago Butchers Head GM (S22-PRESENT)

CHI S25: 8-8 (1-1 playoffs)
CHI S26: 10-6 (0-1 playoffs)
CHI S27: 12-4 (0-1 playoffs)

Regular Season Record: 73-76-0 (48.99%)
Playoffs Record: 4-5 (44.44%)
Trophy Case: 1 GMotY, 1 Ultimus
--------------------------------------------
Rankings: 15, 23, 23, 24, 24, 25, 27
Points: 56
--------------------------------------------
We talked about Muford already, and Bayley follows a very similar story to Mufords. Bayley started off with the New Orleans Second Line, putting up a pair of 11-win seasons with an Ultimus win, but then turned in two subpar seasons, before eventually stepping down from the job. Then he went to Chicago, where he was tasked with bringing the Butchers back to greatness, and still is a current GM there, looking to get Chicago's first franchise Ultimus win. His record improved every season of his Chicago stint, starting off with 1 win in his first season and picking up 12 wins in this last season, so it will be fun to see what else he can do.
22. @AW13
Team(s): San Jose Sabercats Co-GM (S11-S16)
--------------------------------------------
SJS S11: 1-13
SJS S12: 10-4 (0-1 playoffs), GMOTY
SJS S13: 12-2 (0-1 playoffs), GMOTY
SJS S14: 9-5 (2-0 playoffs), Ultimus
SJS S15: 11-3 (1-1 playoffs)
SJS S16: 7-6 (0-1 playoffs)
--------------------------------------------
Regular Season Record: 50-33-0 (60.24%)
Playoffs Record: 3-4 (42.86%)
Trophy Case: 2 GMotY, 1 Ultimus
--------------------------------------------
Rankings: 9, 16, 22, 23, 23, 25, 25
Points: 74
--------------------------------------------
Getting closer to the end of the first portion of the rankings, at 22, we have another former San Jose co-GM in AW13. With placements ranging from 9 to 25, he was one of the more controversial GMs. On one hand, his resume is very impressive. AW13’s trophy case boasts an Ultimus win and two GMotYs, as well as a solid 60% win rate with five winning seasons out of six. Furthermore, his improvement-adjusted win rate sits at 76%, a stunning 16% increase on his true win rate. On the other hand, AW13 only spent time as a co-GM, and his management stint aligned roughly with the peak of the players on the San Jose roster. Plus, the 1-13 season at the start of his tenure may be inflating his improvement-adjusted win percentage. AW13 is certainly one of the more interesting cases of this project.

--------------------------------------------
We close out the first portion of our ranking series with JKortesi from the Austin Copperheads. This is going to be a theme with a lot of these top 21 GMs, but he is one of the founding GMs of expansion Austin. Austin under JKortesi, along with AdamS, was able to be the fastest expansion team to win an Ultimus. After five seasons at co-GM, Kortesi had his chance at Head GM for four seasons, appearing in another Ultimus, this one a loss. Starting off from 0 wins, Austin was able to be raised to impressive levels, a huge part owed to the effort that Kortesi put into the team. He is one of the rare instances of GMs on this list without a positive regular season record, but that also is largely due to the difficulties of starting an expansion team, and he had to suffer through some hard seasons before bringing the team into stability.
Look forward to seeing any debates about this list, and for any predictions on who else will make it for the top 20, whenever that gets posted. Huge thanks to @124715, with writing not being something I am good at, he went through and peer edited the whole thing, while adding in extra informatinon that I had missed. Thank you for reading, congrats to the people that made it, and look out for the next portion!
