So I am not really big in the general channels and the only real discord channels I am in are my teams channels. So I have no idea on people’s personalities, demeanor, or anything that has nothing to do with pure TPE. These ratings are gonna be strictly based on team need and TPE so don’t be hurt if I give you a bad grade. That just means you have that special X-Factor that doesn’t show up on paper. Also as a note the TPE values I read are from the 3/20 update so their TPE position in the class may differentiate from the TPE position they were at the draft. Also another side note I only looked at the first round. I have no clue what happened after that and frankly I’m too lazy to find out. Now let’s get started.
Pick 1.1 - Baltimore Hawks - Bigred1580 - Luke Quick - Wide Receiver - Kansas City Coyotes
Grade: A-
With the first overall pick the Baltimore Hawks decide you go with Luke Quick at Wide Reciever. To be honest Baltimore needs just about every position so they really couldn’t go wrong with their first pick. He is a top tier earner but there are two different players in the same position in this draft with higher TPE so that brings the grade down from an A to an A-. Still a great pick and start to the draft.
Pick 1.2 - Baltimore Hawks - Infinitempg - Busch Goose - Running Back - Kansas City Coyotes
Grade: A-
With Baltimore having the first two picks they decide to go double skill position and pick up Busch Goose at running back. He is the top running back in the class so once again a great pick but they already have a young running back they picked up from just last season in Preston Parker so it wasn’t their biggest need heading into the draft. But with no other running backs on their team it’s still a great pick to pair with Parker and they should both get some good reps. Really with Baltimores team they should be picking for the future and that’s just what they’ve done with this pick.
Pick 1.3 - Orange County Otters - Gragg9 - Anton Bruckner - Corner Back - Minnesota Grey Ducks
Grade: A
With the first non Baltimore pick of the draft the Otters select Anton Bruckner at Corner Back. This is a great pick for the Otters. They only have 2 corners on the roster currently and another send down who isn’t the faster earner at the moment. With their secondary getting up there in age Bruckner will provide them some youth and a plan for the future. Nothing much more to say but great pick.
Pick 1.4 - Philadelphia Liberty - xtitanmvpx - Xavier Walls - Defensive End/Linebacker - Portland Pythons
Grade: B-
With their first draft pick the Liberty select Xavier Walls who is either a Defensive End or Linebacker. Not too sure since my 2 sources list them as different positions and I don’t feel like searching so meh. Either way is a pretty underwhelming pick. At both positions they have good players who are pretty young already and if he is a defensive end then there is 2 people in his class who have higher TPE at the positions. At linebacker it’s a little better though as he is the top TPE in his class at that position. Still a high tier earner so not the worst pick in the world but I still feel they could’ve done better.
Pick 1.5 - Arizona Outlaws - Pib - Glenn Smart - Defensive End - London Royals
Grade: A+
The Arizona Outlaws have definitely made the best pick so far in the draft filling their greatest need at Defensive End with Glenn Smart. Currently they have a regressing and IA Logan Noble Jr. at the position and that’s it. They must be extremely happy that the second highest earner in his class and top defensive end option is still on the board here for them to fill that gaping hole in the defensive line. Arguable defensive end is the most valuable position on the defense too and they have their man for the future to build around. All around amazing pick and couldn’t have done better in my opinion.
Pick 1.6 - New York Silverbacks - MachineEarnerRuns - Mongo - Defensive End - Bondi Beach Buccaneers
Grade: A
The Silverbacks selects the man with only one name Mongo at Defensive End. Looking at the Silverbacks roster they don’t really have any pressing needs currently except their Defensive Line is getting up there in age. It’s more their defensive tackles they are gonna need but the defensive line is pretty interchangeable so not mad that they went defensive end. Mongo is also the second highest earner at the defensive end position in this class and would be the first if he is made to play defensive tackle. Solid pick up at a position of need.
Pick 1.7 - San Jose Sabercats - j00 - Juno Hu - Corner Back - Tijuana Luchadores
Grade: B+
Hard not to be biased when a team picks your partner in crime from the DSFL but I will try my best not to be. Overall San Jose has 2 needs and this filled one of them so it’s a great choice. He’s second in TPE for his position so since they wanted to fill CB they picked him up. The reason it’s not an A and got bumped down to a B+ is because I feel their other need (Defensive line/Linebacker) is a more important position. Overall it’s a good pick though and I know I said I would leave the users personality and such out of this but.... great guy.
Pick 1.8 - Yellowknife Wraiths - Skorch - Andrew Warthol - Defensive End - Minnesota Grey Ducks
Grade: B+
The Wraiths are very similar to the Sabercats in that they had 2 positions of need and they filled one of them with their first round pick. Where they differ is that I feel they picked the bigger priority by filling the need on the defensive line (arguably the most important position on the defense) instead of going for the less important RB of the future. Couple this with how quickly all the good defensive lineman are flying off the board it is a good pick. Now you may be thinking “then why did they get the same grade?” Well I’ll tell you little Timmy. There was a better Defensive Lineman still on the board and he also fit better in their team need by being a Defensive Tackle instead of being a Defensive End.
Pick 1.9 - Berlin Fire Salamanders - noanic - Troy Abed - Quarter Back - Kansas City Coyotes
Grade: C
Our first Quarter back in this honestly stacked quarter back class is finally off the board. I am not a fan of this pick. Now looking at the Salamanders team they have a ton of players about to hit regression and their quarter back is one of them so it was a good idea to pick up their quarter back of the future now. The problem I have with the pick is the class is stacked at quarter back so in the early rounds you should be looking to fill the spots of all those other guys who are hitting regression. Not only that but he is the 5th quarterback in TPE so he most likely would’ve fell to the 3rd round or later. If their quarter back wasn’t about to hit regression this would’ve been a D or worse. This is one of those times where this guy must have that X-factor that I don’t know about since I’m not around much.
Pick 1.10 - Chicago Butchers - firstfray - Dexter Hall - Linebacker - Kansas City Coyotes
Grade: C-
The Butchers grab the best Linebacker on the board in Dexter Hall. Hate is a strong word so I won’t say I hate this pick but I strongly dislike it. Looking at the Butchers roster they are similar to the Salamanders in that they have a ton of players about to or are already in regression. None of those players play linebacker. That basically sum up this pick. They have a bunch of needs for the future and they went with a non need. The only two reasons this isn’t a D is because he has high TPE and you can use linebackers like pseudo defensive lineman which is a future need for them. Man these last two picks have been pretty disappointing.
Pick 1.11 - Colorado Yeti - Modern_Duke - Manhattan Project - Running Back - London Royals
Grade: B+
Like the two picks before them the Yeti also have a fair few players who are gonna be regressing but unlike the other two picks I like this one. Let’s go down the list of why this is a good pick comparatively. Unlike the Salamanders picking the 5th best player in the position. The Yeti selected the best at the position left on the board. Plus one to Yeti. Now unlike the Butchers selecting one of the only positions where their guys aren’t about to hit regression they selected the position where their player is hitting regression. Another point to the Yeti. The only reason this got dropped down to a B+ is because they do have a young running back still on the team in Drip Dad so they could’ve went for a different position of need but you always need at least 2 running backs and the Yeti are going to be set at the position for a long time.
Pick 1.12 - Honolulu Hahalua - z0rem - Prof. Godfrey Gravity - Defensive Tackle - Kansas City Coyotes
Grade: A+
With the twelfth pick the Hahalua select a Defensive Tackle in Prof Godfrey Gravity. This is a fantastic pick for the Hahalua as this is definitely their biggest need and they got the best available and well best in the draft at the position. I have never seen such a smart and calculated pick as good as this one since the Outlaws selected Glenn Smart. I could not have asked for more with this pick and I am sure the Hahalua are excited for the future with this much needed youth on their defensive line. Great pick
Pick 1.13 - New Orleans Second Line - dude-man - Cade Williams - Offensive Lineman - Tijuana Luchadores
Grade: A
I know the grading may look biased because it is my old teammate joining me in my current team but I honesty am a very big fan of this pick. The second line only have 1 human offensive so offensive line is probably the biggest position of need on the team. The only argument is that they could have picked up a Tight End here since their current tight end is deep into regression but that’s kind of pulling at straws with their strong wide reciever core to make up for it. Now let’s see if the final pick can keep this roll if great picks going.
Pick 1.14 - Baltimore Hawks - UltimateYeehaw - Chunt The Badger - Wide Receiver - Dallas Birddogs
Grade: B+
With the last pick of the 1st round the Baltimore Hawks look to pair up Chunt The Badger with their first overall pick Luke Quick. Now as previously stated the Hawks have so much needs there really wasn’t a wrong pick this draft and now their offense is basically set for the foreseeable future besides the quarter back position but as we know this class is stacked at quarter back so they have more than enough time to pick one up in the later rounds. They did get docked a bit because there is still a wide receiver on the board who is much better than Chunt. Besides that though a solid pick to build their future around.
In conclusion I thought this draft was actually really good from most teams. A couple I feel kinda let me down but you know those X-factors are something I can’t account for. Maybe on day I’ll pop into discord chats so I can get a better gauge of the user rather than just the numbers on a piece of paper. But that’s for another day.
